  1. I like that about Tom Allen. He isn’t a stone faced machine, or one that will just spew sunshine and rainbows. He’s respectful enough to keep the details private, but you can tell when he’s good and pissed off. And rightfully so. The McFadden deal was horse feces, but there was enough blame to go around to justify more than one ass chewing.
  2. Biiiiig one. Right behind Landon Turner. Creek was keeping us within the same ZIP code as Teflon John’s first class of mercenaries, and was every bit the equal of Wall and Bledsoe that night. Goes without saying that those two have had decent enough NBA careers. I still doubt Bledsoe’s ability to spell “NBA”, but that that’s a different topic.
  3. Wait….you’re on to something here…..thinking of AMC as an actual company instead of a trading instrument…..BRILLIANT!
  4. That’s actually not that unusual. Mile (RIP) was in his 70s, if memory serves.
  5. Mo Creek Same story as Penix: talented kid, big heart, head in the right place, but can’t shake the injury bug. They describe thoroughbred horses as locomotives with champagne glasses for ankles. Guys like Creek and Penix fit that mold.
  6. You know how hard it is to find a candystriped patent leather bodysuit with matching whip?
  7. I’d say 99% of the time, the 4 TOs would do it. The return TD was just some extra sauce on the $&!+ sundae.
  8. Indiana football is my dominatrix….I love the pain.
  9. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve said this, I’d be posting this from my Gulfstream.
  10. Shifting gears from drinking to profusely drinking
  11. I haven’t been able to say this with any conviction very often in the past, but…..I trust this staff. I trust Tom Allen. We can adjust. They’re not perfect, so it might not work, but we’re not a ship without a captain and competent crew anymore. Like I said above….we’re down a defensive cornerstone and our QB is playing like reheated crap….and we’re up at halftime against a top 10 opponent. There are worse situations to be in.
  12. We’re down a cornerstone on that side of the ball today though.
  13. Not pretty, but up at halftime against a top 10 opponent. Worse situations to be in.
  14. Squeeze got squoze. Volume wasn’t there. I bailed out at $29/share. Still wound up turning about 12%. Nothing life changing, but hey…beats losing.
  15. I’ll add the traveling Vietnam Wall memorial. The wall itself was a moving site, but the scene surrounding it even more so. You can’t help but feel the pain when you see some of the toughest looking men you’ve ever seen reduced to publicly sobbing on the ground at the sight of a name carved in black granite. There is also something admirable. Individuals from all walks of life: corporate execs to outlaw bikers, every race, religion, ethnicity imaginable….if you wore a uniform and know a name on that wall, there was only one word used….”brother”.
  16. There’s likely still room. All calls for the 17th are currently ITM, or if not are really close. Can’t remember if there were any at $45. Total for them all is about 7M outstanding shares…..and the current float is about 1.5M. Oops. This is the unique situation of being a relatively new former SPAC that someone happened to catch this for. A stock that’s been around longer, not as likely to happen since it’d have more eyes on it for longer. If it’s one of those situations that makes you think “That doesn’t happen….”, you’re right. But it has.
  17. If you're up for a moderate gamble....IRNT. Similar setup to GME/AMC.
  18. He should consider UK. They got Eric Bledsoe eligible, why not a kid from a fake high school?
  19. Thing with Ryan wasn't just his heater. His curve was nasty...borderline unnatural, and his fastball made it that much more effective. Ryan, Randy Johnson, Walter Johnson, Bob Feller
  20. Trivia: Ryan tore his ulnar collateral ligament during the first inning of his final career start. His final pitch at the age of 46, even with the torn UCL, was 98MPH.
  21. Win total wise? Perhaps. But it's hard to turn down a cool million a year from your hometown team in 1979, which is 20% higher than anyone else was making at the time.
  22. December 1971: The Mets send Nolan Ryan and some spare parts to the Angels for Jim Fregosi. Fregosi, who had been an All Star in the past, wound up playing 145 games for the Mets over the next two seasons. Oops.
  23. The worst part….he didn’t even have the decency to involve strippers or extra servings of Italian sausage. How are we supposed to make good jokes at his expense now?
  24. Had the Nebraska/Illinois game on in the background of a kids' birthday party over the weekend. Hosts are Buckeye fans. I hadn't mentioned my allegiance yet, but when they showed a graphic of the preseason ranked B10 teams, I was astounded when they had nothing but complimentary things to say about Indiana. One said that aside from Alabama, we were hands down their toughest opponent all last season. Of course this is when I chime in. The response: "Thank God....last thing this neighborhood needs is more UK fans." My answer: "I think that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me."
  25. Someone inform Mr. Fryfogle, Mr. Hendershot and Mr. Carr of this.
