....this IS the overlying issue! He so wants to be the guy that bridged the gap between the old and the new as well as being a former Coach Knight stud bring relevance back to IU again. I know deep down inside this is what his dream is to do, but it is not going to happen, that ship has sailed......

It's been said over and over again, but this is truly a "dead man walking" situation if this ship isn't righted.

How can you be a gap if you haven’t laid a foundation to work hard on.

I was thinking about that last night. What if we had landed Love, Knecht, and kept Bates....

I'm of course assuming we actually change styles too, but a lineup of Love, Galloway, Bates, Knecht, and Ware would be the most unstoppable offense in the country if we played the right way.

Yes exactly! His infatuation with XJ and his Ego really ruined something special this year. He says he wants to bring IU back to glory but yet he’s not putting the true effort in to do that. My mentor is an assistant basketball coach at UNF and has stage 4 cancer and still shows up to work, goes out recruiting, etc all in between chemo treatments. He texted me when I asked if he was coming back next year and his exact quote to me was “Not sure…might be coming to an end. Have to really think about it after the season. College coaching takes so much energy to be successful. Don’t want to stop but also don’t want to kill myself doing it” he earned everything given to him considering he didn’t play college basketball. That right there tells you the commitment it takes and Woodson is taking his job for granted and ruining everything in the process. This is kids futures, assistant coaches chances to get promoted, fans that don’t have long to live to enjoy one last ride, he is so pre occupied with his way of doing things and being lazy that he doesn’t take any of that into consideration. It’s mind blowing and frustrating.

"Symbolic loss" as they put it and it truly is. Not only is he a shooter they desperately need, but a gym rat hard worker, willing passer and willing defender. Everything an IU player used to be. They pin it squarely on IU's offensive system.

"He's a winner. He does all the necessary things on and off the floor, which you like," Woodson said Monday night on his radio show. "But I just like the fact that he competes. He likes to compete. He can shoot the ball. He can pass the ball. He handles the basketball. There's a lot of quality things that he does on the floor, and we're fortunate enough to get him."

"I just think it's going to be a major plus for our program because he can really shoot the basketball, and we don't really have that right now."

"It was something missing that we needed, and we got to go out and continue to find kids who can make shots," Woodson said.

IU assistant coach Brian Walsh was the primary recruiter for the Montverde Academy product, and his year-plus-long pursuit of McNeeley was ultimately enough to secure his commitment and eventual National Letter of Intent. "Brian Walsh did a hell of a job recruiting him," Woodson said. "He made the commitment to come (to IU) after a lot of schools were trying to get him.

I wonder what Walsh is thinking now.

I just hope we don’t lose Walsh. He’s been the one big bright spot on the staff.

I'm 50/50.  It would beyond insane if the administration brings him back for more season just so Mike can walk the green mile.  Everyone knows exactly how this will end and it will be very toxic and ugly.  Not sure the program could ever recover.

I hope on Sunday when Woodson has the mic the fans boo him like crazy

I don't mean to defend him too much, but what was he supposed to do with this team? Have Cupps score 20 a night? X? There just weren't options. Certainly the roster is his fault, but he at least tried to get guys like Love and Knecht.

The problem is how hard did he try? He chose a trouble maker in X over a guy who would come in and control everything (who wanted to be here btw) and was the pure scorer we needed in love. He didn’t promise Knecht playing time yet when a guy is in the portal and 20 teams are after him saying I can’t promise you minutes is the most idiotic thing you can say to a kid who is transferring to boost his nba chances. If he would’ve put his ego aside for 1 month during recruiting our team would be wayyyyyy different and Liam wouldn’t have decommited.

You have one recruit…and you don’t stay in touch to keep him. That’s some coach we have. Woody has no business running a program. We are approaching Patrick Ewing ineptitude now.

No he sure doesn’t and he probably doesn’t care he lost him. His ego is so big that he think he will just go out and build a team if his choice. We’ll hate to tell him but he lost portal players because he wouldn’t promise playing time. Well he will have plenty this year and probably still won’t promise playing time. I’ve never been more confused and frustrated at how and why we can let him keep being the coach. I wish someone would come remove QB because he is as much if not more at fault for letting his friendship get in the way of IU. Too bad there isn’t something in writing about personal friendships getting in the way as a way to remove QB.

I don’t see where you can save face by keeping Woodson now. It just doesn’t make any sense at all. Woodson cannot be given another season or we’d be lucky to see the tournament again before 2030.

That’s the thing QB and whoever else isn’t realizing. By keeping Woodson next year and he suxkd and then gets fired you lose out on your new coach having a year to build something special with the 2025 class which might be top 3-5 ever in the state of Indiana. Those top 4 in state kids also all play different positions. Which would help a coach after 1 year. None of those players will be available by next offseason. Egos getting in the way of brains.

I tried telling you all. This isn’t going to be good. Year 1 post Sampson incoming if not worse

This clearly signals to me that

    1. There will be a TON of players leaving the team.
    2. I don’t know why anyone would want to keep a coach that is going to lose a ton of players because of his ego and style plus lose his best recruit.
    3. I just don’t think the players entering the portal are good enough to fill 8 plus spots.
    4. at least if we are crappy then maybe we can get Pearl in 2025. Unless having zero commits and a mass exodus would somehow be enough ammo for Dolson. I guarantee Woodson mentality is don’t wanna play for me then fine I’ll go get players who do. This day and age that mentality doesn’t work and even losing everyone he won’t take any responsibility for causing this.

What stinks for me as a fan is the fact that buying players for the now eliminates the (potential) joy of seeing some develop and grow in their careers. Some players don't get it until they're upperclassmen. Watching Victor Oladipo become Victor OLADIPO!! took time, and it was a wonderful thing to see. His blossoming was enjoyable because of where he started and where he ended up.

It's highly unlikely Kaleb Banks or CJ Gunn return -- and I mean this with the utmost sincerity -- it sucks that we won't get the chance to see their possible growth. Of course they are responsible for their own effort, but the downside to constantly buying players is that we eliminate the chances of seeing the next Haston, Wilmont, Evans, Coverdale, etc. growing and succeeding (and truly becoming) Indiana Hoosiers.

I definitely think Gunn is for sure gone. If you look at his dad’s twitter such a big difference now compared to weeks ago even. His dad is very active in there and kudos to him for never publicly calling out coaching staff for his son not getting PT,

Gallo & Leal had 15 assists between them. Gallo has emerged as the "glue guy" for running the offense IMO.

To me he’s truly the one who speeds things up but yet CMW constantly just talks about XJ coming back as reason for the uptick in tempo. I just don’t see it.

Agreed but if he can get 2-3M from NIL a top 5 draft pick makes 4x what a mid upper half 1st rounder. Grab an insurance policy and come along for the ride. If it works he goes from $4M a year for 4 years to $16M a year

The problem is a lot of times they say you don’t typically jump in the draft when you’re a junior or senior but with that being said one more year of development with his skill set he might be the unicorn.

Shared the ball really well tonight. I’m going to miss Ware.

Me too! I do think one thing Woodson has going for him is he can say look what I did with TJD and Ware and JHS and Mbako. might get him some transfer portal guys that are worthy,

  13. What’s crazy is if we win the lowest seed we can get is 7th and if Illinois beats Iowa we get 6 seed in Big Ten tourney. We definitely need to be on opposite side of Purdue to have a chance of them being upset. Keep winning and maybe we get invited to NIT lol.

Nothing Bama has ever done, sorry... nothing ANY school has ever done in terms of "cheating" has ever bothered me.

We should cheat more/be better at it. And not turn ourselves in when it happens lol gotta be the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

We don't have a moral high ground on anyone.

I agree! I mean Kansas assistant coach was literally on tape promising Zion’s dad a house and assistant coaching spot. The fact is it’s pretty hard to cheat these days especially here with the NIL resources. Pearl honestly wouldn’t have a need or reason to cheat here because he can convince anyone to give him more NIL money.

Why would Rabby and the rest put those things out? They always do what the athletic department says to do. Now Kathy just shows up out of nowhere. It’s a PR battle.

Yep pretty sketchy a brand new account just joins a message board all of a sudden with all of this “information”
