This one is interesting. Locally, the word was his Uncle (who I “think” is his guardian) said he cannot get below a B, or else no basketball. Rumor was he got a C and therefore, no basketball until that grade was brought up. Sounds good, right?  Everyone said, “wow, good for his Uncle for stressing academics!”

Only problem with this is, he was shown having workouts in Bloomington (presumably with the Bloomington South team) during the time he was being disciplined for grades. So then, everyone started questioning, “He can’t play with his local school team due to grades, but it makes sense for him to be allowed to drive almost 2 hours to play and workout with a different team?”

    Something doesn’t quite add up.

Wow thanks for the response that’s awesome

East coast?  Who are all these east coast guys we've landed?

It’s not necessarily about who we’ve gotten now but in years past the east coast guys have been very successful for us and we need to continue building bridges and oh yeah that Aminu guy we want. Bruiser is the one building the relationship with him and he happens to be an east coast guy.

No jump shot yet, and no right hand yet.  Honestly unless he improves both of those dramatically he will be here after next year too.  Not a dis on the kid at all, just going by what I saw this year.  Hopefully he gets both of those and gets drafted next year.

I agree... when he would post up to make a right handed layup he would instead dribble into the lane With way more traffic and take a way lower percentage shot. When I coach I preach high vs. low percentage shots to my kids. Developing a game to give yourself as many high percentage shots as possible is so key.

My nephew is his teammate. Showed me some stuff last night on Hooks - that isn't out for public viewing of him in game and practices

What kind of info would you want cybergates?

Here is what I've gathered since I couldn't stop watching his reels. Dude is a stud.

Lean but a wiry strong kid.More B1G ready body than many a past IU recruit was going into college as of his 8th grade year.. IDEAL frame for more weight as he grows but he doesn't need much to go with the big boys as is.

.Physical on the interior but also able to fit such a broad skillset  into a finesse scheme. Eyes are usually up typical of kids who play above the rim most of the time.Decent overall awarenss on both ends, and will makw blue collar plays along with the highlight reel stuff.Killer in transition.Killer.

Good handle for his size. Will throw it down your neck if he is given any space and sometimes when trying not to.Best way to contain is get nto him early and often and draw fouls..Being in the right spot might be the only way to contain him at some point on his current trajectory.Justin Smith - athletic with natural  killer instinct.Solid comparison there physically but Hooks looks stronger now than Smith did as a Freshman at IU..

He could still learn a few more post.moves.

Sneaky off ball movement on offense , and ability to recover to make a play on or off the ball defensively -  even if he doesn't get the first step. Versatile etc etc.

Solid shooter as of what I viewed, but that could use some work .JMO.Athletic enough to do whatever he works towards improving. The impressive thing to me is a lot of his opponents know what's coming but not much they can do about it.

Protects the rim with enthusiam. As in pins shots to backboards with one hand and pulls them down enthusiasm.Very stingy at the rim .Can't emphasize that enough on all I have saw.Not a kid who merely wants to block a shot.He wants to beat that s*** up!

Not saying Hooks will, but as a player he LOOKS capable of reclassifying a year early if there.were to ever be a scenario where he finished high school requirements for college early, and really wanted to get a jumpstart.

The only things that can stop kids with his talent are poor decisions or attitudes.I didn't get that far on my curiosity since it got late. Not sure if he takes plays off or other ill habits since I was Hook-ed on the obbious .Lol

Not sure who all is in contact .Will let you know .I'll ask my nephew more  today at dinner.

Thanks for the great information. I’d be curious who his favorite team is and if he is an Indiana fan at all. If not unless we do something these next couple of years we have no chance because with kids going pro the dukes and Kentucky’s will be going hard after him

    Timeline :

    IU offers July 20.

Jordan official visit at the end of August.

Jordan commits to IU on Sept. 2.

Certainly a lot different than what we have seen in the past. Recruit X, narrowing list to ten. Recruit X names his final five. Recruit X announces he will take all of his official visits.

Recruit X has good things to say about all the coaches he visited.  Recruit X sets a date for commitment. Recruit X delays the commit date. FINALLY.  Recruit X commits.

So what you’re saying is if Jordan stays all 4 years he will officially be your second favorite Hoosier behind DD

Uhh....Caleb Love still has an official visit coming up...how about Love and Garcia...and Jerome balls out so hard this year he goes pro! I’d be ok with that situation.

I already thought about him going pro even if it’s a late first early second round because of his condition! Make money while he can. I def wouldn’t blame him and I hope/think he could be that good!

NBA, that’s what the kids want. (Most anyway) Again not saying he’s a bad coach at all, actually think he’s damn good.  Just saying he develops bigs and I don’t see it. I’ll agree he gets guys who fit his system, although I don’t think Swanigan really did but you have to take a guy like that.

Hence why people think Calipari is a good coach because he gets guys to the NBA... wel duhhh when you have a gazillion McDonald’s all Americans it’s essentially an all star team and even if you averaged 9 points a game ur getting drafted high just on potential. I’d love to see calipari coach for one year with no McDonald’s all Americans. Flip flop him and Virginia’s coach for one year and see what happens. I bet more players than not have busted coming out of Kentucky but people still buy into the hype aka that ketchup kids parent
