If he had still reclassified but committed to another school I would've talked about how we missed on him last year. Since he was a 2020 recruit and all. But IU did land him and it made their recruiting class of 2020 even better.

Maybe we should go ahead and award Lander as the 2021 Mr Basketball.

But keep telling yourself whatever you need to to keep from having to face the reality that the 2021 recruiting class has been disappointing.

To me Kaufman is the only one in Indiana that we lost out on. We ended up recruiting nobody else in Indiana besides him. We stopped on Furst and Wesley. Isn’t the quote get old and stay old? I’d rather have a 22 year old player with two years of eligibility who has had success in the ACC and now has motivation to make his dad proud compared to a freshman that has to adjust to being in college for the first 2 years potentially before he makes an impact. I understand Lander is in the 2020 class because he reclassified but we didn’t recruit his position in 2021 because he reclassified early so there wasn’t a need for it. We also lost a coach right in the middle of recruiting that hurt us in recruiting some out of state players and hunter didn’t have time to make a difference on 2021 class. We can get 2 more grad transfers after we see our needs because trust me Kids will transfer since they are guaranteed to be able to play immediately without a waiver. So just wait to see what transfers we get before judging if the class was a fail. The problem with IU fans is they want results Now Now Now. Recruiting is Hard y’all. Also we want shooters and need shooters yet the top guys in Indiana are not shooters. It can’t go both ways to say recruit Indiana high school players first but we have to get shooters. The “shooters” in the class of 2021 didn’t even get power 5 offers. If Archie took Luke Brown who went to Stetson people would complain he is now pulling a Crean and then it wouldn’t leave open spots for guys like Stewart to come in late. Also. There is so much behind the scenes stuff that none of us even know about. Corrupt things still happen, kids get in trouble and it’s never released to the public, kids change their mind, parents influence the decision. I guarantee none of us could do better and we would all be fired by now. Also don’t y’all realize if we fire our coach that we start all over again. Next year will be the first year that Archie has HIS guys only and that’s assuming Durham doesn’t stay. Archie in year 5 and 6 will be better than whatever coach is here in year 1 and 2 and then y’all will complain again for wanting a coach after year 4 if that player doesn’t have success. Can you imagine if Villanova gave up on Jay Wright or Duke gave up on Coach K after 4 years? Or Virginia gave up on Tony Bennett after they lost to a 16 seed.

Lander is from Indiana but reclassified to 2020. At that point he was no longer a 2021 recruit, otherwise he'd still be in HS instead of playing for IU this year. That's how reclassifying works.

True or false: IU has one HS senior committed to play for IU next year.

True or false: That player is not Lander and is also not from Indiana.

True or false: IU has 0 current Indiana seniors committed to play for IU next year.

True or false: Purdue has commitments from Kaufman and Furst.

True or false: Kaufman and Furst are the highest ranked current Indiana HS seniors.

Just because they are high rated doesn’t mean they are worth getting. Furst got absolutely dominated by Duncomb. You really think that Furst is that good? If he is #2 ranked Indiana high school player then it’s a complete down year.

    This year it's true.

To me I’ll take Duncomb 7 days a week over Furst. I think the only person worth recruiting in the 2021 class was Kaufman. Furst is big and scores points but that’s in high school. To me he is going to be overwhelmed and outmatched and not be that good in the big ten. So Purdue is up 1-0 on Indiana recruits this year only and as good as Kaufman is I might want an older grad transfer like Stewart compared to a freshman Kaufman. Stewart doesn’t come here if Kaufman is here IMO

If TJD returns, we're fine.  Still need a little more frontcourt depth, but having an all-american level player in the frontcourt limits the amount of bodies you need there.  If neither Brunk or TJD return, we're in trouble without a solid grad-transfer.

Don’t forget a 2022 can always reclassify to fill those voids. To me unless Brunk doesn’t want to play overseas he comes back next year to showcase himself

Unless those kids graduate early and say Leal perhaps wants to get his masters at Stanford or something. I don’t think we can make many assumptions at all about our roster long term. Just what we have now and what is coming in...but in 3-4 years all our freshman might want to be grad transfers...unless we change our name to Wisconsin I just don’t know kids are going to stick around for 5 years.

    Hahahahaha true

You are assuming A) we won't have our own transfers, B) seniors don't move on with their life to another career, C) we actually land an impact transfer.  Even if all that breaks our way we end up with imbalanced classes, something that plagued Crean.

But we don’t because every single player gets this year free so we actually can pretend that all of the freshmen are redshirt freshmen. So technically next year besides Duncomb we are technically getting Leal, Geronimo, Galloway, and Lander. That’s a 5 kid recruiting class haha.

So if we don't get Miller or Aminu we're still fine?  2021 recruiting class of 1 guy is fine?  I get it that 2020 is different, transfers, yada yada.  But to me this would be a big problem to have 1 legitimate recruit in a year in which we really need 3-4.

I don’t think we know because of the free year. Transfers and Brunk and or Durham coming back etc

I doubt he realizes that fans can influence recruits for the good and the bad.  If the fans are always negative and calling for the coaches head everyday it will hurt as much as anything.  This fan base can be a huge asset with how loyal we can be and the huge following of the basketball program.  It also can be a negative as well especially now with social media and more people can spout out non sense

I 1000% agree. I’m soooo freaking tired of all of these “fans” being babies because we didn’t get a couple recruits. In the 2021 in state class there was literally 1 or maybe 2 players I wanted everyone else to me wasn’t worth it... they also are forgetting that our 2020 class was loaded and 3 of the 4 are 4 year players. People need to chill out and stop worrying. In the words of Aaron Rodgers R-E-L-A-X

Hate Purdue but they know how to recruit players who fit their system.Indiana hit and miss will know this year if we are on track.

Why are you an Indiana fan? I haven’t seen you say anything positive at all ever about Indiana. Instead of being so negative why don’t you try just letting situations play out.

I'm starting to not like IU's chances with this recruiting class moving forward. I know Lander is at IU but who knows if he'll be around after this year. I think he will but if he plays well who knows. I get that there will be a lot of transfers but if you're banking on that to fill out a recruiting class you could be in trouble. I don't put this all on CAM and the staff because things happen in recruiting but they need to find a player or two that they really lock in on and don't miss because of the last 3 guys that it was known were a priority CAM has missed on 2 of them and that can be fine if you recruit like UK but CAM hasn't done that.

I’ve said this multiple times and I will continue to say it. I love CAM but I do put this on him. His strategy is to let the assistant coaches be the lead recruits and then he is the closer even when it’s on big time recruits. AM is a top 15 player and CAM didn’t even start building a relationship until recently. People ask how Howard is getting all of these recruits to commit and other coaches too and it’s all about the head coach establishing the relationship early.

    Few tidbits.

I am not getting that warm fuzzy feeling anymore on Mason Miller. Still think there is a shot but he is being sold as the guy at Creighton.

Really like and am pretty confident in landing both TK and AM. If we don't its not from lack of effort for sure. Both camps really like our staff, and what they are being told. If they go somewhere else its just a matter of what they feel is best overall.  As of today we are in a great position with both. Close the deal Coach

In regards to MM. being the guy means nothing if it doesn’t give you a great chance to get drafted high in the NBA draft. There have been only two first round draft picks for Creighton since 1985 and both of them were stone cold killer shooters. MM is not that and going to Creighton doesn’t give him the chances of getting drafted high like at IU no matter how relevant IU is or not.

He reclassified down to 2022, and he is going to have a huge role the next two years on what is a very good prep school team.  I think it was a good sign that he indicated IU was pushing hard still because Bruiser was his point man.

Just reading the article I get this sneaky suspicion he really likes IU and could be our first commitment of 2022.... ignore this I was thinking of C.J. Gunn

    A couple questions here...

    1. Indiana is almost never the first major offer so what changed with this kid... someone in his range (because rankings do matter in offers) is where Indiana always waits to make an offer especially with them having way more targets at that position for 2021 and 2022.
    2. is this someone who is low because of his points but could skyrocket as he develops with the reclassification?
    3. what’s your first impressions of him?
