    In one of the Hoosier hysterics interviews with Coach Hunter he’s mentioned wanting to be a head coach. In my opinion he’s the assistant we lose first with some success. Coach Ya probably has some FBI stink on him still and hasn’t given an indication that he wants to be a head coach. I also agree that Fife stays.

    Yeah I was afraid of Hunter leaving and would hate to see him go. But that’s the price of success unfortunately

    With the portal and ramifications of the NIL, the discussion of who stays and goes is interesting.

    If you are counting schollies between 2022 and 2023, this is what I think we can count on for departures:  TJD, Stewart, Thompson, Kopp, XJ, Phinisee, Durr.  So you can see seven schollies between 2022 and 2023, and it could easily be 8-9 if JHS is one and done and Bates is one or two and done.

    So, you get four easily for 2022 (hoping for JHS, Clowney, Banks and Gunn).

    That would leave 3 minimum, and likely 4-6 for 2023.

    If I had to guess (because it is a known unknown right now):

    • Probably gone in 2022: Stewart, TJD, Thompson, XJ;
    • Phinisee is questionable (although he will have played his full four years);
    • Not sure, but could see them back: Kopp and Bates; and
    • Gone by 2023: Durr, Phinisee, and Kopp (for sure), probably Bates, maybe even JHS.

    I could easily see two four man classes coming in '22 and '23 and possibly still having a spot each year for a veteran transfer.

    What I think isn’t talked about enough is what assistant coaches want to pursue head coaching jobs because IMO that’s the most important battle we have on our hands because we are going to become successful. IMO fife stays because he is the next coach when Woodson retires. At this point does Hunter want to become a head coach or is he now content being an assistant? If he’s content then we are set for years. Coach Ya I think is the one I could see leave after some success.

  3. Hey everyone my wife’s aunt passed away unexpectedly a couple of days ago and we have to come to the Dayton area for the funeral. We are going to have to stay 3 nights and it’s an unexpected cost especially since we just had to spend over $4500 for IVF procedures. Does anyone have any connections to any hotels in this area that’s better than any rate I can get or access to a house that I can rent for 7 people? I know it’s a long shot but the worst anyone can say is no sorry. Thanks for the read.

    So you are wondering why football players commit earlier than basketball players? You answered your own question: "Football season starts before basketball season." Many players want to get their recruiting out of the way before they start their senior seasons so they can concentrate on just that. Football starts soon but basketball is still more than 3 months away.

    Also, as far as the number of commitments is concerned, 12 in football is about the same as 2 in basketball from a percentage perspective. IU already has 1 commitment for 2022 and I wouldn't be at all shocked if there is 1 more before basketball season starts.

    Factor in that COVID really disrupted recruiting across the board and things will be out of whack for a bit.

    So I don't see any problem nor any indication that basketball players in general are more likely to be "divas" than football players. You seem to have a preconceived notion that they are and are therefore looking for evidence to back that up. This is known as confirmation bias.

    Also we technically don’t have the spots right now so we may end up over signing for 2022 and then players decide not to leave. As the season goes on we will know more of who wants to stay and go but I mean the coaching staff has only been here 5 months and we are questioning why they haven’t started over signing yet. Also it takes time to develop relationships with this kids. Some teams have been building relationships for years so it’s not just gonna be “ Hey, I’m mike Woodson and I’m a Jeanie in a bottle and I can get you to the nba by rubbing the magic basketball” people got their wish to get rid of CAM for once be patient and let the coaching staff focus on having a successful season.

    Whats the story with his recruitment? Did we ever really connect there?

    It was with the old staff and not sure on the new staff but it’s pretty impossible to come into St. Louis and get a guy between Illinois Missouri and SLU - Travis Ford is starting to build something there.

    I'm guessing what we'll see for the most part are players doing influencer deals with companies (ie, promoting products on their social media), players doing local appearances, sponsoring summer camps in their respective sports, and players using their likeness to create things like YouTube channels where you get a rev share on ad clicks from the platform.

    There are literally kids the same age who nobody every heard of making tons of money by building YouTube channels.

    Totally agree I can also see kids creating a twitch account and making money off of them streaming playing call of duty, madden, etc. also now on the college basketball games they can now have their name on the back. Etc

    I cant believe anyone falls for that brotherhood crap they have tried to lay claim of.

    It sickens my stomach to be tossed around so cheaply.

    I mean that’s how cults work don’t ya know??? 😂😂😂 I mean the brotherhood was on full display at his creepy retirement ceremony. I thought I was watching the beginning of a tv church episode or a dance workout dvd. 😂😂😂
