  1. And their facilities are CRAP. If the only thing players cared about were Xbox stations and juice bars in the locker room, programs like UConn and Gonzaga wouldn’t exist.
  2. I don’t think you’re crazy. Just think you’re severely misinformed and miss the bigger picture…repeatedly.
  3. yeah would hate to think Ledlum committed to UT over IU because UT has a cereal bar and Gatorade slushee machine and IU doesn’t. We all know that isn’t the case though.
  4. I sent a daughter to Alabama during the Avery Johnson years. I drove her back to Tuscaloosa after Christmas break and took her to a basketball game as I was staying the night. I started to count the number of fans in attendance but had to stop as a basketball game broke out with Jacksonville State (Bama won in OT). If you would have told me there was 2500 people there I would have said count the tickets. Fans of these football schools DO NOT CARE when their teams are bad. EDIT——missed where a new thread for this topic was started. Will move my discussion there. Sorry mods.
  5. *when their teams are good That’s my point. SEC programs will turn out when their teams are good (see Arkansas, Alabama) but overall the support doesn’t match the support at a school like Indiana. Arkansas was lucky to have 8-9k fans a game during the Heath and Pelphrey years. You really don’t know what you’re talking about and it shows.
  6. I will assure you there wasn’t a single player on Arkansas making TJD money last year. Not even close.
  7. It certainly didn’t help Arkansas recruiting in the 25 years between Nolan Richardson and Eric Musselman. Bud Walton arena was a ghost town when we played there a few years back.
  8. Nobody at Arkansas or UT cares about hoops. Back in the early to mid 2000s I used to travel to and through Knoxville for work and made several acquaintances with UT people. Women’s hoops was the only basketball those people cared about and they still had Philip Fulmer as their football coach. Same thing with Arkansas. I vacation down in the Ozarks for a few weeks every August and it is heavy Arkansas land down there in several areas. Fans at both those schools would flat tell you they’d shut down their basketball programs if it meant having an elite football team every year. Fans at both schools respect having good basketball teams, especially when their football teams struggle (UT may have found something w Heupel), but at the end of the day the basketball support at those schools doesn’t hold a candle to the support at a place like IU. You’ll never see a UT or Ark basketball player get an NIL deal like TJD. Hell out 13th scholarship player Anthony Leal is making more than many of their starters. At the end of the day, recruiting comes down to selling a vision. I believe both Musselman and Barnes are getting it done over our current staff and the results certainly don’t lie. You can use facilities, style of play, scenery, etc as excuses all you want, but at the end of the day it simply comes down to selling a vision.
  9. Smart a$$? Simply pointing out another targeted player is off the board. Think it deserves acknowledgement. Ain’t that the thread title; “Transfers with IU interest”? If I missed the remarks earlier forgive me, came back from dinner with 50+ notifications and must have missed it.
  10. Cormac Ryan to UNC. Think we can get Childress back? This time on scholarship? Might crack the rotation at this pace.
  11. Nope just some good news. Our competition is making moves in the portal. We have one hand tied behind our back.
  12. I haven't been wrong about anything. If you're not in the portal by May 11th is does nothing for IU next year as you don't get immediate eligibility. Unless you think 2000 more guys are entering the portal in the next 2.5 weeks and the portal will only get stronger (it won't) then I'll have what you're having. IU will end up using their 3 remaining scholarships because at the end of the day it's still Indiana and playing in the B10 is still a big deal to many players currently in the portal, but we'll see who the smartest guy in the room is when IU inevitably takes a step back because they didn't capitalize on their key targets they identified early on.
  13. It's still a swing and miss and a significant blow to next years prospectives. Hope Banks and Gunn make the jump, the team needs it. I'll see everybody in awhile.
  14. This site not have an ignore feature anymore?
  15. It's still not a comparison Scott. Arkansas and Tennessee are football schools first and foremost BY FAR.
  16. For what? Arguing that Ledlum was a swing and miss by the staff? Please tell me what rules or violations I have broken? I haven't insulted a single person despite being the minority opinion. Look in the mirror Scott.
  17. I haven't posted on Rivals since 2019, just remember you always being on the short end of the stick there. You've been a member here mere months longer than me. Calm down Scott.
  18. I was told Ledlum wasn't a good player because he was only ranked 53rd in the portal?
  19. You're not trying to push the narrative that the portal is only going to get stronger from here until May 11th are you?
  20. Oh we'll definitely add players in the coming weeks, that I'm not worried about. What I'm worried about is adding the level of player that doesn't push the needle for next years prospective. I don't care how big of a sunshine pumper you are, and there's a ton on here, but the quality of player in the portal is dwindling by the day and not even cheeriest of leprechauns can deny that.
  21. You're not seriously trying to argue basketball is a bigger draw at Tennessee or Arkansas are you? At least I hope you're not.
  22. It is accurate. After May 11th nobody else can enter the portal. Whoever is in the portal after May 11th are your options to choose from. Not that hard to understand. Guys in the portal after 5/11 are likely their for a reason. We needed filets not table scraps this portal season.
  23. I'm not a huge fan of consolation prizes. Wake me up when our perimeter scoring and athleticism has been addressed.
  24. That is correct. After May 11th, what you see is what you get. Hope the staff has a plan, they need one.
