Now that K is gone and the Scheyer era is here, is Duke about to slide from the top tier?

It’s possible, particularly in an area like the back. A year's worth of rehab with no additional setbacks can do wonders.
That and the head coach at IU is a lot more pressure and demanding than the head coach at Butler.
Just read this - or any - IU board for confirmation.

Great, now the rumors will be that X is actually ineligible due to being an extraterrestrial from Melmac.
I read this on another board.

At the end of the day KL showed us very little in his 2 years here. If he can start for someone else next year I would call it a personal success on his part. JMO
KL did not have a lot of opportunities to show us a lot, but he made a few passes in those opportunities that made my interest piqued. He understands angles.
But in terms of success, I would even say that playing meaningful minutes next year in p6 conference would be personal success. He still has 3 years of eligibility...

The Big East is a very tough conference and getting tougher with its recent coaching hires. That said if Matta likes Lander after seeing him up close for an entire year then I’ll trust his evaluation that he feels like he can get more out of him.
I think KL could break out at a lot of places. Honestly, if this board is any indication of the IY fandom at large, there was a lot of waffling between "he will be the greatest pg at IU since IT" to the "he will never play at this level".
The extremity of the views on his play probably are sub-optimal.

Everything is rumors right now. One message board was supposedly saying he was doing 150mph.
Great, now the other message board will be saying that this message board is reporting that he was doing 150 mph...

I believe in KL. I would have been happy if he stayed, but a fresh start might work him wonders as well.

Don’t we have 4 S16’s and 1 E8 the last 10?
we have 3 S16's in the last 10 tournaments and we have fired 2 coaches in that time frame...

Way too good
NIL could alter the calculus significantly. A fan favorite walk-on might be able to generate more income than the value of a scholarship. Conceivably, they could earn enough to pay tuition/room and board and take some money home.

B1G was not good this year

If Walsh is indeed the hire, can we all agree to support it until early next season at least?

Are we seriously creating a new topic specifically about where to put BLAME on how Fife’s departure was or wasn’t handled properly! Good grief, give it a rest. I swear, some of you guys on here can’t function without trying to find any speck of fault or wrong doing when it comes to IU athletics decision making….Geesh!🙄
YEP indeed !!! 🤣 - I thought about creating a Kumbaya thread, but I felt this one fits the spirit of the board more.

Was just coming here to post that the winds seemed to be blowing that way.
Looks like we are all seeing the same things.

There seems to be a hint that we may be looking at Walsh as the replacement on the other site.

Let's get some quantifiable numbers on this topic that has hardly been addressed on this board 😉 - for fun!

...There are those automatically defend Coach Woodson and see no wrong with anything he ever does...
I do not think this is accurate at all (although it mostly does apply to me 🤣). I think the majority of the (vocal part) of the board has been critical of CMW at some point - if not much of the time.
From my recollection, it was mostly only IUFLA - sorry IUFLA if you were not one of the early defender and I am misremembering - and myself who initially defended the CMW hire on this board.
Glad to provide entertainment though!

I really don't know where to put this... Hope Rob hooks up with ML at Ball St!
It would be kind of cool for IU fans, but with any health, Rob can definitely play at a B1G Ten level.
If I am Shrewsberry, Collins, Hoiburg or any coach of one of the B1G schools where the fans are less insane, I am calling him right now.

I will miss Rob; this is a sad moment for me.

The second part is 100% fact for THIS thread.
"No one said anything against Dane until more and more information came out. Actually, it was people automatically ripping Woodson. "
I just went back through AND this is verifiably true - anyone who does not believe, go check. The first couple of pages dismiss the rumor and it is on page 3 (when rumor gained legs on Wednesday) that there are a slew of unfounded attacks on CMW.
This board has always been quick to attack CMW; anyone who doubts this should just go back to the CMW hire threads. Then we discuss not defending our own.
CMW is the coach and probably will be for 6-10 years. Let's stop eating our own and see how things play out.

Next step head coach at IU
I wish I could still believe this, but the last few years have taught me that IU basketball does not work as in my fantasies... especially when it comes to former players OR Indiana connected persons coming.

Since we are going with unfounded conspiracy theories about leaking, might as well go with one that paints everyone in the best possible light:
- Fife is let go by IU due to irreconcilable differences with CMW - both to blame
- Ridiculous fan backlash happens in twitter-verse and elsewhere, damaging IU's ability to recruit
- Fife, who loves IU more than himself (which I do believe to some extent), tells Rabjohns to release information that paints his time at IU in a less than favorable light in order to exculpate IU and Woodson in order to not be a distraction for IU's recruiting and search for a new assistant
- CMW, wishing to protect Fife's future options, contacts Rabjohn and requests that he remove the private details about Fife
I guess it is kind of fun to just make stuff up...

Yes, Gillespie can play.

If that Filipowski thing happened as stated there, that's incredibly stupid. But Chris007 is forever the guy who guaranteed Stevens was coming. It's hard to believe Fife is that stupid in front of a recruit.
Chris007 also said Fife might be gone a month ago. He is right as often as anyone I have ever seen on these kind of boards.

As long as it is not Youniversity of Indiana - that would be rubbish!
