I hate how the quads re-arrange themselves every day. It's a very disingenuous feature of the NET. You should get credit for how good that team was when you played them - and I understand that can be challenging to rank teams with these advanced statistical models earlier than halfway through the season. Take for example football. If you played Maryland in September this year (or any year really), it's more akin to playing Ohio State. Play them later in October, not so much. Same thing in basketball. Playing Purdue in November vs late February. A team that lost it's star players and plummeted down the rankings by the end of the season shouldn't negate how great a win over them early in the season was.

None of these advanced ranking stats mean anything until the sample size gets much larger. We're what, 6 games into the season? Meaningless

Your reply is disingenuous. TJD is undersized for a 5 but excels at that role and is an outstanding athlete. If Edey were the same height as TJD, or even your average 5, he would be a bench player at best. Edey is an outstanding college player, but you, and every Purdue fan, are lying to yourselves if you think that has anything to do with anything other than his absolutely gargantuan size and perhaps his effort and work ethic. He’s a great college athlete, but let’s not confuse that with “athleticism.”

If we are consistently taking/making 10 fewer threes than the other team every game, that’s a minimum of an automatic ten point deficit. We’d have to make an additional five two-point shots to compensate. That’s one hell of an unnecessary hole to dig yourself into.

Iowa is in for a rude awakening now that divisions are going away unless they get better on offense quickly. We will never recruit like Michigan does. We absolutely need good lines; I’m with you there, but building your team around the running game in 2023 is going to be losing football far more often than it’s going to be winning.
