  1. I think he would have flourished at IU. UVA plays an even worse version of Wisconsin basketball.
  2. I fully expect Purdue to win this game handily, but a team that presses the whole game and a 5 who can draw Edey away from the basket are the two worst matchup factors Purdue could ask for.
  3. Kent state shoots 24 threes per game, but they only hit an average of 8. Gotta pressure them off the three line. If they shoot above average from three, it could get ugly.
  4. He picked like half of the south bracket as an upset haha
  5. Purdue has got to be the luckiest team in the country in one possession games with a few seconds left
  6. I think it depends entirely on whether conference tournaments are really valued. If they aren't, like the committee suggests, we should be a 4. If they are, we likely end up a 5. In reality, there is very little difference between the two. Really no operative difference in difficulty of path until you get to 3 or 6.
  7. So far, considering the setbacks this team has faced with injuries, I think the team has done pretty well. I also think the preseason expectations were sky high for a second year coach inheriting what Woodson did. Honestly, I'm just going to enjoy watching IU play in the tournament. For everyone that's calling this year a disappointment if we don't get to X round in the tournament, I just don't understand that mentality as a fan. Woodson made huge improvements last year, and we've been that much better this year despite massive injury problems. The tournament is mostly about matchups and luck, so I'm not going to get myself too upset with any outcome. Instead, I'm going to enjoy watching IU in the NCAA with the knowledge that they have the potential to make it pretty far if things fall in our favor.
  8. Why was he shooting? We only have 6 fouls
  9. At some point we are going to have to hit some threes
  10. Good call for sure, but the Edey can do no wrong narrative in this game is getting really tiring
  11. I wouldn't say we gave that one up. Not much more we could have done to defend that
  12. Yeah, we don't shoot nearly enough threes. I think it's our biggest weakness. They hit, what, 5-6 in that half? We hit one and only shot three. That's not enough.
  13. Refs aren't going to let Rutgers win this
  14. That it's okay? No, that was my own editorializing, but that he's hard to officiate because of his size? Ad infinitum.
  15. Don't worry, he's just hard to officiate because he's 7'4", so it's okay.
  16. The way this tournament is going it's more likely to be Minnesota!
  17. Lol okay, he could probably play point guard, too.
  18. His biggest asset is that he has normal coordination, which is extremely rare for players above 7'. Most are extremely gangly and uncoordinated. He also does a really good job of taking advantage of his height, but yeah, he has average talent while being a good 5-7 inches taller than the other team's tallest player. If he was as talented as Purdue fans think he is, he'd be a consensus #1 pick.
  19. You don't need to hit kids to discipline them. Just because it was done in your day doesn't mean it was better or that people were better behaved. Norms and rules shift generationally. What looked like "correct" behavior when you were a kid is not the same as today. Also, I'm speaking as a former teacher. The kids that want to be there and pay attention for the most part will behave. The kids that don't, won't. Smacking them with a paddle will not change that. In fact, it will only deepen their resentment and derision.
  20. This is not true. There are much, much harsher consequences now than there ever were before for acting like an idiot. Those consequences also follow kids for the rest of their lives these days. I'd also argue there is really no difference in the number of good parents out there now compared to "back in the day."
  21. I came here to say exactly this. They've probably got a good indication from someone at the NCAA that it will be approved, otherwise it's unlikely IU would be making it public that they'll be applying.
  22. Refs letting OSU get away with murder
