  1. Not necessarily my favorite book or anything, but I just finished the second book in Cormac McCarthy’s Border Trilogy - The Crossing. Man, that was tough read on the subway to finish. Was worried about the horse. And what about the dog??? Thought I was going to start crying like a little bitch about the horse. WAs really a great book, but emotionally draining for an animal lover for sure. Any other fans of those books. I’m about to start the first one, which I’ve also never read. All the Pretty Horses.
  2. I haven’t, but everyone says I should! We don’t watch a ton of TV and have missed so many good shows.
  3. I am so unfamiliar with her, but I love her droll vibe. Any particular late night show, or just start searching on Youtube.
  4. Maryland is pretty much our second home, spending a ton of time on the Eastern Shore. But I do not like the team. I would like to see TJD destroy their interior defense tonight. Like a 35 pt and 18 rebound type night.
  5. I thought the second season of White Lotus was pretty great. I could watch Jennifer Coolidge in anything and Aubrey Plaza is always great. I really loved the two local girls who were schooling the hotel guests.
  6. Ha, I was a Copsman in the Navy and had to go onto a submarine one time - to take a sailor off who we were admitting to the psych ward. I recall thinking, “I could never live on one of these!” Now, I have “Yellow Submarine” in my head…
  7. Yeah, I think our minds are pretty good at adapting to things like that. The retinal specialist said it will take awhile, but the brain adapts.
  8. Truth! Also didn’t stand too close to the subway tracks. 😅
  9. Oh man, that is SOOO true. I can’t imagine anything more cringe inducing than eyeball isssues - except for ball ball issues. If all goes well, recovery of vision in that eye after about 3-4 months. Just got back from retinal specialist. Still working on spatial stuff - equilibrium is all wonky. Bumped into the wall a couple times on my way in to Manhattan, but didn’t knock anyone over or anything!
  10. I smoked a bowl first. Made me nice and mellow for the game. I think there may have been some fist pumping when JHS hit like a bazillion threes in a row though.
  11. Thank you, man! Am taking it easy this weekend and hoping for a better week this week.
  12. That was one of the most fun games to watch in ages. JHS was unstoppable from three. Pretty crazy that we might get XJ back soon. If we work him and Race in and are at full strength, we will be a tough team come March.
  13. Oh my god, the injection in the eye. Had that twice this week. It’s a bit more than “You’ll feel a sharp pinch” isn’t it? I apparently had ruptured capillaries b/c of the tear. There was so much blood in the back of my eye that they couldn’t get a clear picture of the tear for a couple of days. Glad you had a full recovery - pretty crazy how much we take our vision for granted until it’s threatened.
  14. So, I normally don’t watch videos that are posted. But I’m glad I went back and watched this short clip. Really good stuff.
  15. Thank you, brother! My wife is taking good care of me. Pain is gone as of today and just chilling to see what what happens. I’ve had floaters off and on for several years. Feel like those are pretty common. Have learned this week that flashes of light are the real danger sign for a retinal tear. If you get those, get to an ER. Untreated, I guess it can turn into a complete retainl detachment and permanent vision loss. Thank you for the kind words, my friend! But make sure you take care of your eyes too! Yeah man, they were really perplexed by it. Usually related to things like diabetes and high blood pressure, but I don’t have those. Also could be trauma related and they say people who are more nearsighted (that’s me!) are more prone to tears. Bottom line is if you see new or weird flashes in the corner of your eye, don’t ignore it! Things can go pear-shaped quickly. Vision in that eye is still bad, but it’s now like looking through a mesh screen instead of looking through safety glass.
  16. They talked about the system she came up in. You can tell she really benefited from that.
  17. So, had a hell of a week health-wise. Tuesday night as I was falling asleep I had this weird lightning flash across my vision several times. The next morning on my way to the sub, I kept having these weird flashes in the outside corner of my right eye. They kind of got worse as the morning went on, until I consulted Dr. Google. Online it said, “get thee to an eye doctor stat if you have flashing in your eye.” I was already at work, so I called the Eye Center about 11 blocks north and they said to come in immediately. Went in and they did a crazy amount of tests and took pictures of the back of my eye. There was so much blood in the back of my eye that they couldn’t get a clear picture, but they thought it could be a retinal tear or detachment. They told me to monitor and let them know if it worsened. And to come back the next day if it did. Woke up the next morning to do alternate side parking and I had these really large undulating black snakes in my vision and a gauzy veil over half of my right eye. After taking care of parking, I called my boss (an internist) to tell her what was going on and she said to immediately go to our ER. So, hightailed it on the sub to Manhattan. Spent ALL day in the ER getting tests. They finally were able to take a picture of the back of my eye that showed a retinal tear. Got it operated on this morning with chryo gas to seal the tear and they are hoping I will regain my vision in that eye. Went from thinking I was going to go blind, to now hoping things will go back to normal. When I was worrying about learning braille and considering books on tape, I kept thinking, “Thank the lord for Don Fisher.” 🤠
  18. Yes, it‘s hard to believe she’s a freshman b/c she seems so poised.
  19. Keep marching on and destroy them. The women did their part with authority, now it’s time for the men to step up.
  20. Ha, the axe throwing was big a couple of years ago here. Lots of places where you could drink and throw axes. Which kind of seemed like a bad combo to me.
  21. Gerzon steal and layup followed by Parrish steal and layup. Gerzon is impressive from three.
  22. OSU is good. Their freshman McMahon is REALLY good. Almost through the first half.
