  1. That was my takeaway from the article, too. He didn't really seem to care that UCLA wanted to go to the B1G but was just upset that he found out about it the same way as everyone else and he wasn't involved.
  2. Like @BGleassaid, Crean has said good things about IU even after being fired. I don't get the impression he harbors any ill will. For as spastic as he can be, he's still a professional and seems to recognize that his firing wasn't personal. Davis has matured quite a bit since his time at IU. He recognizes many of his mistakes and will admit to them. That said, I don't know if he claims responsibility for some of the reasons people didn't think he'd be at IU for the long term. However, he did play a part in that publicly talking about making the jump to coaching in the NBA. It was comments like that which made it seem like he always had one foot out the door and was looking for the next opportunity. Nothing wrong with that, but maybe he shouldn't have stated it publicly.
  3. I sure hope so. Kopp seems like a great kid but I want him off the bench and playing backup minutes.
  4. I'm not. I think think he's going to get a lot of PT this season. He is able to play both the 4 and 5 so he can step in for either TJD or Race. I look for him to be a 20-25 mpg guy. He's too good to play less than 20 mpg. I look at it this way. How many minutes would freshman TJD get on this team? Probably 20-25 mpg. I think Reneau will be as good as or better than freshman TJD.
  5. Which team on that list do you think OSU would replace? Michigan? Purdue?
  6. Yes, he had a lot going on last season on top of the normal freshman adjustments which can be difficult by themselves. Expecting a kid and then having a close relative die. It'd be enough to cause anyone to lose focus. I think he'll be adjusted to it all soon if he isn't already and have a chance to make a huge improvement from last season.
  7. What's really impressive about that is that one of his seasons was shorter than typical due to COVID and he's only played in 2 NCAAT games. This shows just how healthy he's been able to stay and how productive he's been.
  8. I'm excited about this team if anyone is able to take Kopp's starting spot and/or relegate Kopp to backup minutes. I don't care if it's Bates or someone else like JHS, Geronimo, Banks, or Gunn. Kopp is by far the weakest returning starter from last season and the team would be much better if he was a backup player instead of a starter.
  9. https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/College-basketballs-stockrisers-after-transfer-portal-empties-189979724/#189979724_7 They have Bates on their list. Here's what they say about him: "G Tamar Bates, Indiana: Mike Woodson did not add anyone out of the transfer portal because the Hoosiers ran out of available scholarships when Trayce Jackson-Davis announced he was returning. That means Bates has a path to a huge role staring him right in the face. Bates might really be the X-Factor for Indiana in 2022-23. Indiana really needs that playmaking wing who can put pressure on the rim and be an All-Big Ten caliber weapon. Race Thompson is a really good player, but he’d be a fantastic fourth option behind Jackson-Davis, Xavier Johnson and Bates. The 6-foot-5 wing has the frame to be an impact defender, too. If Bates can earn the trust from Woodson and the Indiana coaching staff, the ceiling for the Hoosiers just completely changes."
  10. Rightfully so after the last few years of B1G faceplants in the NCAAT coupled by a large talent drain in the offseason. I hope IU has a good enough season that they'll be higher than a 4 seed even with a down B1G.
  11. I saw either on this board or another that it would take 8 schools in the ACC to want out to be able to break the agreement that all the schools agreed to. If that were to happen, I've thought it would be humorous (to me) and appropriate if the former Big East schools drove the breakup of the ACC.
  12. The "At Least Our Basketball Teams Are Good Playoff?" The Futility Bowl is the championship game?
  13. He's been helping recruit other players, too. Cupps looking like a great pickup who will be a real leader.
  14. I've seen valuations of the B1G's next TV contract up to $1.6B per year after the additions of USC and UCLA without adding anyone else. The more realistic number is around $1.3B. Even before that it was around $1B. So, yes, it'll be a monster deal.
  15. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-rankings-arizona-moves-into-top-15-after-five-star-pg-kylan-boswell-reclassifies-to-2022/ I wonder if that will work out better for them than Lander did for IU.

  17. https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/big-ten-expansion-means-revenue-estimate-spikes-especially-with-the-college-football-playoff-per-report/ Says the B1G TV rights are now in the $1.28B-1.6B per year range. Up from $1B.
  18. Therein lies IU's problem. Recruiting has improved yet IU is still behind most of the B1G in that aspect.
  19. We might have a lot of assistant coaching turnover in his time here. Not from them being fired or leaving because it's toxic, but because it sounds like he's grooming them to become head coaches themselves. Granted Fife got fired but I think Hunter and/or Rosemond will become a head coach in the next few years.
  20. Since this is a basketball board, how do you all see the addition of these teams affecting B1G basketball? Does it help the league transition away from the bruising style of basketball or do UCLA and USC get clobbered until they conform to that style?

  22. And people are worried IU brings no benefit to a super conference....
