  1. Daily Commute Musical Update

If I'm in the car by myself, this is usually an Immediate Channel Change.  However, if someone is in there with me, it's 100% of the time Carload of People Approved.  by pure definition, not a Rick Roll, but you get to give them a little taste of it by making them listen.

When I heard it today, it also brought a smile to my face.  Several years ago, I Rick-Rolled this board.  I don't recall if presented it as game highlights, a press conference, or something else.  I just remember HTD, bless his Hoosier loving heart, quoting my post and saying, "5fouls, I don't know what's wrong.  All I'm getting is music with some guy dancing around."

  2. Think about it this way.  If IU was destined to finish second in the conference standings, how would you rank the teams in order of caring if they were the team that finished first.  #1 would be the team that would bother you the least.  Purdue would be #13 as the school that would bother you the most.

That's how I rate a 'rival'.  Who do I NOT want to lose to head to head or finish behind in the conference standings.

  3. Does anyone on here ever get truly upset when we lose to Michigan?  I mean, upset beyond the fact that losing sucks, or if it was for the conference championship or something.  If not, how can you put the Wolverines in the 'rivalry' group with teams like MSU, Wisky, and Illinois (Purdue is a given).

Maybe I have a different definition of rivalry than everyone else does.  But, I would think Illinois would have to be in the Top 4 of conference rivalries for every IU fan.

  4. In my opinion, it is more of a rivalry than some of you are willing to admit.  Is it on par with Purdue and Kentucky?  Of course not.  But, the fact that we go out of the way to make fun of their coaches (Underwood, Weber before that) and take great joy when they have an off the court issue (the term dUI, etc.) means we look at them a little differently than we do a program like Michigan, Minnesota, Maryland, or even Ohio State.  Our top 4 conference rivals are Purdue and then a big gap to MSU, Wisky, and Illinois in whatever order you want to put them.

  5. So, are you guys in favor of kicking Gaylord Perry out of the Hall?  Outside of intentionally throwing a game, is there a form of cheating that is worse than another?  Where does George Brett's pine-tar fall on the scale?  Who makes that decision?  If they kept out everyone that ever cheated in some form, the Hall would be a fairly empty place.

Bonds and Clemens were Hall of Famers without steroids.  Would Gaylord Perry have been without the spitball?

  6. If someone wants to disparage IU's resume this season, it has to be rooted in non-conference strength of schedule.  We played way too many games against 300+ teams.

The road win thing needs to stop now.  As does any other argument outside of non-con SOS.  No, IU is not a perfect team.  But, neither is any other team in the country.

A 7-4 Big Ten record is a level of accomplishment that a lot of teams at the top of conferences like the WCC, Pac 12, Big East, an ACC would have difficulty matching.

Guys trying to stay on topic, this is about IU's chances.

And you're not competing just against Illinois but 356 other programs as well.

Sure, Illinois (and most teams) would benefit with more road wins as well but there's a reason the Illini are projected as a 5 seed or so right now vs IU's 8.

Wasn't trying to compare against Illinois, nor specifically arguing with you directly.  The IU doesnt win on the road is a tired argument of years past.  Yet, it continues to be brought up this year when, as I pointed out, there are 8-10 schools ahead of us in the NET that have the same number or fewer road wins.

You just happened to be the one who brought the topic up.  Nothing personal to you or Illinois.

  8. #1 key to the game.

Which of Kofi & TJD will the officials decide to put in foul trouble.  Both will have 5 fouls in the first 5 minutes if they are called under the strict definition in the rule book.  The officials need to determine early on if they want to make that the storyline.

I’d take Shannahan over Mcvey any day of the week…but I don’t trust Jimmy.

as a Bengals fan, I much prefer facing McVey than Shannahan.  McVey has absolutely made two atrocious challenges in this game.  It's like he thinks he's the smartest guy in the world.
