  1. All 4 of the West Coast schools in Top 10. If the Pac 12 was as mediocre as rumored the last few years, what does that say about the B1G?
  2. If I'm Cal and Stanford, I'm thinking hard about whether it makes sense to jump back to the Pac 12. Neither is even remotely a football school anyway, so not a huge deal leaving a power conference. And, it would be much easier travel for other sports.
  3. I'm in 4 leagues. Had Tua and Hill on one team. Had Waddle on another (HSN2). And, went against Achane in yet another (Champions). A whole lot of ground to make up . On my team with Tua, I went out and picked up Mayfield before Tua even made it to the locker room.
  4. Looking at backup QBs on other teams that the Dolphins could pursue. I see 2 that are intriguing. - Andy Dalton of the Panthers - Jimmy Garappolo of the Rams. Carolina is likely destined to get the first pick in next year's draft anyway. Might as well get some draft picks from the Dolphins. At 36, Dalton is not the long term answer when they finally give up on Bryce Young. Garappolo would cost more, as the Rams have playoff hopes and probably like the idea of having Jimmy G available if Stafford goes down. But, he's not the long term answer for whe Stafford hangs them up.
  5. Ryan Tannehill might be getting a call tomorrow, if not tonight.
  6. Yes, He says "Hello, I've struck out 156 times myself this season, which is 12th most in MLB. And, in my first full season in the Major Leagues, much like Elly is going to do, I led all of MLB with 208 strikeouts. While some people compare me to the modern day Babe Ruth, it's worth noting that Babe never struck out more than 93 times in a season." That's what Aaron Judge says.
  7. Wright is going to have a big game tonight. Why do I say that, you ask, since Achane is playing. I say it because I picked up Wright in both HSN leagues, but since Achane is playing, I can't bring myself to start him. I assume that Wilson will get most of the work when Achane is not on the field. So, watch Wright get 3 touches, but one of them will be a 77 yard TD.
  8. What we can't lose sight of is the fact the time element, whether we want to admit it or not, changes perspective. I grew up in the 1970's. I was spanked by my parents, even occasionally received a belt. Never bad enough to leave bruises or anything, but I was, on occasion, disciplined that way. My dad was the kindest, most honorable man I ever knew. He disciplined us in that manner because, at least in 1970's Southern Indiana, that was an accepted form of discipline. Today, a parent would get charged with abuse for even thinking about using a belt on a child. Different times, different perspectives. And, as I mentioned in earlier post, different people, different perspectives. What seems to be inappropriate to one person may be perfectly natural to the next 49 people placed in the exact same scenario. Both of those things need to be considered when dealing with something that happened 25 years ago.
  9. Which would/should have been thoroughly explained to the player why a certain test was being done. That's something we need to better understand.
  10. You're not getting any Francine remnants? Southern Indiana is targeted for all day rain Friday and intermittent showers Saturday and Sunday.
  11. Understood. But that's the military. To my point, if it was University policy, then you have to look at this differently than if the Dr. conducted the test on his own. In the latter, it's fair to ask why without immediately assuming guilt.
  12. Well said. It's okay to want the top of the mountain, be disappointed when we don't reach it, and still be pleased with the overall result. I'm going to be pissed after every single loss this year, even against OSU. But, in the end, if I'm watching us play in a game after Purdue this season, I'll be content.
  13. I can only go off of personal experience. I did not play college sports. My high school sports physical did require the 'turn your head and cough' exam. But, I never received any prostate exam that went beyond that until I was over 50. The difficult thing about this type of situation is that what makes one person uncomfortable may not make the next 9 patients that get the exact same treatment uncomfortable at all. Add in the fact that society has changed in the last 25 years and things that were commonly accepted back then would not be viewed the same as they are today. More facts are required before judgement is passed either way. The main question I have is who decided an 18-22 year old athlete required a rectal exam? That type of exam would seem to be unnecessary given the demographic. Was it University policy? That's the main answer I would be seeking before I pass any judgement here.
  14. He swings and misses way too much, but stats show that he gets more 'bad' strikes called on him than just about anyone in the majors. I assume his height is a contributing factor in that.
  15. You might be right. Here's an image captured during Cowboys practice today.
  16. Featured matchups for Week 2 Champions League The only matchup between two 1-0 teams. @Indykev appears to have a formidable team should everyone in his starting lineup continue to perform at Week 1 levels. And, he's poised to get even stronger at receiver with Hollywood Brown nearing a return to action. In addition, he has 2019 covered with Dalvin Cook should the world get sucked into a time-altering black hole. @B_A, meanwhile, has a little receiver problem with Puca Nacua out, Tee Higgins' status being up in the air, and some guy off the street throwing to Christian Watson. That said, he still has the likes of Lamar Jackson, Nico Collins, Isaiah Pacheco, and George Kittle, who are all capable of huge games. HSN2 In HSN2 this week, we will focus on the matchup between @02Hoosier and @TiminNC. @02Hoosier beat 5fouls last week on the strength of about 87,400 points from 49ers kicker Jake Moody (no, I'm not bitter at all). Assuming Moody only gets, let's say 8-10 points this week like a normal kicker (5fouls had a 12 point cushion this past week, and, no, I'm not bitter), 02Hoosier may have to rely on a repeat performance from Cooper Kupp. @TiminNC, interestingly, has no Carolina players on his roster. I would strongly encourage him to pick up 3-4 Panthers to optimize his team. Bryce Young, Miles Sanders, and the Carolina defense can all be had through a Free Agent pickup. Get them today before someone else does. Short of stocking up on Panthers, Tim will have to rely on Josh Allen, a group of steady backs and receivers, and the 49er defense to try and get his first victory of the year..
  17. Specifically as it relates to the Bengals/Burrow, a big part of it, not only this season, but the last several, is the lack of camp and preseason game reps. Part of that is Burrow has had a lot of injuries and ailments like appendicitis, and part is organizational philosophy. Specifically to this season, I don't think Burrow's wrist is 100%.
  18. Fill in the blank. Caitlin Clark has more of an impact on her sport than anyone in the last 50 years with the exception of __________ - Tiger Woods - Who else? Obviously founding fathers of a sport, and mammoth historical figures like Jackie Robinson, but those go back more than 50 years. The WNBA was decidedly 2nd tier among sports leagues before this season. Arenas were half full at best and you had to search hard for TV coverage. That's all changed, and it's hard to identify a single athlete having this level of impact. Magic/Bird/MJ/LeBron? Huge impacts, but Magic and Bird did it together, Jordan built upon it, and LBJ rode the wave. Michael Phelps? Hard to say with an Olympic Sport because they are out of the spotlight 3 out of 4 years.
  19. Summary of Colts discussion Ballard is Btown's uncle Ballard lets his dog crap in Scott's yard and does not pick it up
  20. Last night's 49ers/Jets score of 32-19 was a Scorigami. Kind of surprising that had not happened before.
  21. Standing's after Week 1. @IUFLA with an impressive 13-2 record for the week. Rumor has it that he had one of his horses make the picks for him (left foot visitor, right foot home team). Regardless of how he arrived at the 13-2 mark, his performance did catch the eye f certain 'auditors' in Vegas, who have sent 'representatives' to @IUFLA house to talk and 'twist' his arm for more details. On the flip side, @B_A is putting away the dart board and is looking to buy a horse to help with next week's picks.
  22. HSN2 Weekly Recap Winners: @02Hoosier, @Indykev; @btownqb; @mrflynn03; @Parakeet Jones. and @Sagamore In the featured matchup of the week, Sagamore overcame the big fat 0.00 contributed by Christian McCaffrey by relying on big weeks from rookie QB Jayden Daniels, as well as geriatric receivers Mike Evans and Stefon Diggs. Despite a big week from the Dallas defense, @Naturalhoosier is left wondering what possessed him to draft Amari Cooper and Evan Engram.
  23. I have a goal of providing weekly summaries of both HSN leagues so that everyone can see what's going on in the other league. Champions League Winners: @ATX_sig, @KDB, @Indykev, @PAHoosier, @B_A, and @Seeking6 In the week's featured matchup between @Seeking6 and @dgambill, Seeking6 rode big games from Cooper Kupp and the Bears defense to overcome sub-par performances from Raheem Mostert and Travis Kelce. Dgambill really wishes he had started Jameson Williams instead of Drake London.
  24. And, yet, I always seem to expect more from him.
