  1. I've seen about half of the Top 20 players in the state live. As far as being a high school player, there isn't. Not even close. Those recruiting ranking are based on college potential, and that is not as cut and dried. It may not have superstar talent, but the 2021 class is still extraordinarily deep. I will say this. 5 years from now, I expect Luke Brown to have had a better college career than many of those ranked ahead of him.
  2. Blackford, with Luke Brown, came down to New Albany and beat the Bulldogs tonight 71-70. Brown had 17 in the first quarter, 33 for the game (despite being constantly double-teamed), and made a fantastic pass that led to the game winning bucket. I included more details on my impressions of his game in the Like Brown thread for those of you that may be interested, but no longer visit that thread.
  3. Quit trying to bait me. I simply said we are in danger of being shorthanded in the frontcourt next season. You can try and twist that any way you want, but I'm not going to play the game.
  4. Absolutely the coaching staff is aware of this. But, knowing it and sealing the deal with a transfer, let alone the perfect match like Bielfeldt was, are two different things. We experienced the not so great match of team and transfer when we landed Fitzner.
  5. If we had several lights out three point shooters, that could work. With our current roster, I'm concerned that won't be effective.
  6. Big difference in 'or' vs. 'and' Anyway, since when you say 'we'. you're talking about Purdue, I understand why you aren't worried. But, this is an IU forum, and 'WE" should be if its both TJD and Brunk.
  7. @Mike. Admittedly, I play for laughs quite a bit on the forum. And, sometimes when I'm not, I'll misspell a word, that creates an unintentional funny. But, try as a might, I find nothing humorous about this post. Care to enlighten me (and, probably everyone else), why the quoted post is funny.
  8. If TJD returns, we're fine. Still need a little more frontcourt depth, but having an all-american level player in the frontcourt limits the amount of bodies you need there. If neither Brunk or TJD return, we're in trouble without a solid grad-transfer.
  9. When everyone was talking about the class 2-3 years ago, Lander was in it. Even so, let's not discount some of those guys because of their ranking. As it stands, there are 21 D1 players out there already. That's almost 2 All-Star Teams. There are years where Indiana doesn't produce enough to fill out one all star team. - Since IU missed out on Furst and Kaufman, DJ Hughes would have provided solid frontcourt depth. - Barnhizer is going to be a good Big Ten player. We just happen to be full at his position. - 2-3 years from now, Kooper Jacobi is going to be a player that Big Ten schools will be kicking themselves for missing out on - Luke Brown is a basketball player. Would he be all Big Ten? No. But as an upperclassman, he could help a Big Ten team. Jake Heidreber, like Jacobi, is another one that bigger schools are going to wonder how they overlooked him when it is all said and done.
  10. In theory, in the backcourt, we got what we needed from the class of '21 with Lander. We won't miss not getting Wesley. Anything else in the backcourt would have been icing on the cake. Our big misses in the class are with the frontcourt. . With the structure of our roster, we needed either Furst or Kaufman, Missing out on both hurts, and losing both to Purdue is worst case scenario. IU needs a Max Biefeldt level grad transfer, or the lack of a second Big out of the class of '21 could set us back a couple of years.

  13. There was never any doubt. A lifetime of being a Bengals fan has prepared me for games like this.
  14. As a Bengals fan, I'm envisioning multiple ways they can blow this. And, they will. It's just a matter of how.
  15. The virus is spreading at home. People don't wear masks at home, even if there is a mask mandate. Lifting mask mandates will result in more spread, because the virus would spread more in public, which would take it into more homes, where people don't wear masks. It's a vicious cycle.
  16. Prayers for you entire family Scott. Are you starting to feel any better?
  17. I've been getting the flu vaccine through work the last 10 years or so. Have not had the flu since. Didn't get the flu every year before I started getting the vaccine, but I did get it every now and then. At least for me, the flu vaccine seems to work.
  18. If vaccines don't work why don't we have smallpox any longer? Why doesn't measles kill people liked it used to? Polio? I can understand there being some reluctance in this case because the vaccines were approved quicker than normal. But, I've never understood the general condemnation of vaccines by certain individuals and groups.
  19. I disagree that the flu vaccine is not effective. It absolutely is effective at reducing the severity of the symptoms. Yes, there will always be exceptions.. People that don't smoke can still get lung cancer. People that aren't obese still get heart disease and diabetes. So, yes, people the get a vaccine (whether it be the flu or Covid) may still get sick. But, a lot fewer will and even fewer will have serious symptoms.
  20. The vaccine may not totally eliminate the virus, but it could/should reduce the impacts. I look at this vaccine to be more like the flu vaccine versus the smallpox vaccine.

  22. That gives Illinois 3 losses. As a result, they just got invited to play in a NY6 Bowl.
  23. Morehead must be really bad to lose to the Cay-uts.
  24. I'm really curious to see how Goode does at Illinois. I'm obviously biased, but I tend to think Kooper Jacobi of Silver Creek is as good as Goode, but Jacobi did not get those high major offers. Jacobi was averaging over 35 ppg for the first 5 games of the year when Kaufman was out. He only had 17 last night as Kaufman returned, but when he had to be The Man, he was.
