  1. Hate to hear that Scott. Best of luck with the upcoming tests.
  2. I still have Direct TV. Too many channels that my wife likes that are hard to find through streaming. And, i like getting the local channels as well. I will, agree with you about their customer service. It's incredible how much that has suffered since the merger with AT&T. Without sports, I personally get very little value whatsoever out of Direct TV. The family streams Netflix and Amazon Prime as well. I could probably cobble together a package of streaming resources that would be cheaper and meet my needs, but the wife would not be happy.
  3. Thinking out of the box here. Could it be a good thing that people are catching the virus this summer, when it does not appear to be as strong as it was earlier? The alternative might be those same people catching it in November-March when respiratory illnesses are usually worse. In other words, will catching the virus in June, July, and August save lives since those people that do so will, in theory, have antibodies to help prevent infection later? Something to think about.
  4. Well, I was there the whole day.
  5. Now that you mention it, I've not heard anything about Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, or Sammy Sosa catching the virus.
  6. She's on a business trip with her boss. He can't seem to do anything without her help. They take a lot of business trips, even with all the travel restrictions.
  7. Man. Spent the day in jail and I missed a bunch of drama. Edit: Visiting ex-wife #4. Don't want you guys to worry about me.
  8. Rolling three day average of deaths in the U.S. for June 13-15 was the lowest it has been since March 25-27. Numbers come from the Worldometer website that provides totals for many sources including New York Times and Johns Hopkins. Scroll down after clicking link to see graph. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
  9. Testing only works if those that test positive quarantine themselves. And, unfortunately, I think a lot of people would not. People just don't seem to understand that the best way to get back to 'normal' is do the simple things now (wear a mask in public, stay home if you have symptoms, avoid large crowds, etc.).
  10. Can't speak to the demonstrations in NYC, but, for the most part, protestors in Louisville were not wearing masks.
  11. Was at Home Depot this afternoon. The workers were not even wearing masks. Saw about 20 of them while in store and only 1 had a mask on. Was at Lowes yesterday and all workers had masks on. You could tell the difference among patrons as well. 50% or more of Lowes customers had masks on. Probably only 20% of Home Depot customers had a mask on.
  12. It's very likely going to end up doing that anyway. I personally think that for the foreseeable future, positive cases will remain high while the death rate continues to decline. At what point do things like face masks (which I still wear in public) and social distancing (which I still practice as well) become disappear altogether? After all, both of those things would be useful during a standard flu season, but have never been widely used tools to prevent the spread of the flu.
  13. The behavior in the video is reckless and deserves to be called out. That said, I take exception to the position this Lane Moore guy has taken with tying it into the protests. His flippant comment is exactly what is wrong with both of these major stories. For many that are commenting, it's an all or nothing position. One side is 100% wrong while the other is 100% right. It does not work that way, In this case, yes, this street gathering is likely to spread the coronavirus. But, so are large gatherings of protesters. So, no, there is no reason to 'skip that theory' as he says so in his post. The reality is neither example should be overlooked as a cause in the virus spreading. He could have posted the same video, called it irresponsible, and left out the editorial comment. Americans need to stop being hypocritical and calling out one thing while being accepting something else that has the same consequences.
  14. As a general rule, I'm talking about the virus affecting the most susceptible. Why do some patients in a nursing home get the virus and others do not? Why does a husband get the virus and his wife does not? Why does one meat-packing worker die of the virus, but his co-worker only get minor symptoms? Much like many other diseases, some people are more vulnerable to the worst the disease has to offer than others. I don't know why, and I doubt anyone does. Will people continue to get sick and die of the virus? Yes. Eventually, however, as with other diseases, even if there is no vaccine, the number of people susceptible to serious impacts of the virus will be less abundant.
  15. The other thing to keep in mind is that the most vulnerable have already been impacted. In Indiana, more than 50 percent of deaths are people over 80.
  16. 27,221 new cases reported in the U.S. today. Highest daily total since May 21st. 791 new deaths reported.
  17. I'm not disputing that we can have high draft picks. I just did not think this particular class was going to have someone go that high.
  18. Yeah. Once they reduced the draft to 5 rounds, I figured that probably shut the IU players out.
  19. Updated with this Thursday's totals. Increases in cases, drop in deaths. Will be interesting to see if those trends continue for through the summer. More cases as more testing and less social distancing occur, but lower deaths as the most vulnerable have already succumbed to the virus.
  20. Rolling three day average of new cases in the U.S. for June 7-9 was the lowest it has been since March 26-28. Numbers come from the Worldometer website that provides totals for many sources including New York Times and Johns Hopkins. 21. To add to what Blue has said. I did reach out to the mods privately, and each and every one shared his own personal thoughts, which I appreciated. I'll be honest, I still don't have a clear understanding of why reporting facts, regardless of the source would be political. That said, I appreciate all of our mods, and I have a great respect for this wonderful board that @Colonialcresterhas given us to enjoy over the years. If some felt I was being political, I can't exactly apologize, because I wasn't. Facts are facts, regardless of the source. As I explained to the mods, in my voting life, I have probably voted for an equal number of candidates from each party. However, what I can do is be more careful with choosing my sources. Some sources are simply going to generate a negative reaction regardless of the content of the story. In the end, I don't want to be responsible for bringing political discord to the board.
  22. I encourage you to pick it back up. I'm getting ready to start Season 4 tonight. And, from the research I've done, Season 4 gets tremendous ratings on quality.
  23. Are you still watching Bosch? I've watched a single episode for the last 30 nights straight. I prefer to view at a steady pace versus 3-4 episodes at a time. Anyway, 30 straight nights has got me through Season 3. Looking forward to the next 30 episodes and getting caught up. I'm loving every minute of it. Will be kind of sad when I do finish. Several months before Season 7 drops. After Bosch, I'm thinking about starting through The Americans. I only caught part of 1 episode when it was on TV. I think I'll like it.
  24. I find it interesting to compare current numbers to the same day of the week in previous weeks. It does not make sense to compare a Sunday to a Wednesday, for instance, because not everyone reports consistently on the weekends. New U.S. cases over last 5 Thursdays June 11th - 23,300 June 4th - 22,268 May 28th - 22,658 May 21st - 28,175 May 14th - 27,246 May 7th - 29,162 New U.S. deaths over last 5 Thursdays June 11th - 904 June 4th - 1,031 May 28th - 1,223 May 21st - 1,411 May 14th - 1,753 May 7th - 2,129 Not as fast as we would like, but appears to be steady progress.
