  1. Study by IUPUI estimates that the infection rate in Indiana is 10-11 times greater than what has been reported and the mortality rate is sitting at about 0.58%. https://www.wdrb.com/news/indiana-study-estimates-186-000-hoosiers-had-contracted-covid-19-by-late-april/article_398fe804-954b-11ea-bb10-3ba99724a338.html
  2. In California, if you test positive and ultimately get eaten by a mountain lion, your cause of death will go down as Covid-19..
  3. Total number of cases can be misleading depending on how much testing is done. The real thing to watch is the number of deaths 2-3 weeks from now (which should take those states through an entire cycle of infections, illness, and ultimately death or recovery.
  4. Crazy. Social distancing should not be too difficult to achieve in a cemetary. https://www.foxnews.com/us/boy-scouts-banned-memorial-day-coronavirus-veterans
  5. I'm thinking about moving to Wuhan to get away from the virus.
  6. In my defense, there was a battle of Corydon and the town did fall. It just was not the first.
  7. Agree with you there. I went out last night to a couple of places. At Meijer, probably 75% of people were wearing masks. However, at the book store in the mall, me and the workers were the only ones with a mask on. Not a single other patron had a mask.
  8. I'm going with Corydon.
  9. When my daughter was pre-school age, she was undergoing treatment for cancer. She could not attend pre-school with other children due to the risk of infection. We compensated by having a certified pre-school teacher come to the house twice a week. I guess what I am trying to say is that there have always been at-risk scenarios that have prevented certain children from attending school. Unfortunately, Covid represents one of those situations. But, based on the information we have, I don't think anything supports a full scale shutdown of school facilities. Parents of at-risk students absolutely will need to be cautious, but that has always been the case. Yes, Covid has proven to be serious for a very small population of school age children. But, I personally don't think the education of the 99.9% of children not impacted should suffer. .
  10. It was in Indiana. I don't remember the town. Seymour is popping into my head, but that is probably not right.
  11. We have a winner. 238 players from Venezuela since 2000.
  12. We eat at the Steak N Shake in Clarksville more than we eat at any other restaurant in that town. We also frequent the ones in Seymour and Southport if we're on I-65 between Indy and home.
  13. We only had 3 options and were asked to list our 3 preferences. I thought that was kind of silly because my 'preference' for Option 3 on my list was 0%, but I had to rank it as a preferred option because we had to choose 3 from a list of 3.
  14. No. They are 3rd on the list with 64.
  15. Man. I hope our locals Steak n Shakes are not impacted. One of the Fouls family favorites.
  16. The Dominican Republic has produced more MLB players since 2000 than any other foreign country with 395 players. What country ranks second on that list? .
  17. I'm having this very discussion on a different board (not basketball related). In my opinion, if you open up most of the economy, you have to open up schools as well. Single parents or two income families simply cannot support an ongoing home-based learning approach for elementary and middle school aged children. You could possibly get away with it with high schoolers, though I don't even trust my own high school children to adequately apply themselves, especially if I'm not home to keep an eye on them.
  18. I don't know if it's simply Corona fatigue, but Dr. Fauci is starting to annoy me a bit. I think everyone understands that re-opening comes with risks, just as remaining closed comes with a different set of risks. The facts are that he, himself, underestimated this thing back in January and February.
  19. Got a survey from my kids school this morning asking me to rank my preferences on alternative learning models for the 20-21 school year. Just receiving the survey makes me concerned not only about school in the fall, but high school sports and college sports as well.
  20. Are you counting a punter as a kicker? If so, I believe Ray Guy is the answer to the first question..
  21. Naples, Florida closes beach because people are not obeying social distancing. https://www.foxnews.com/us/florida-city-closes-beaches-visitors-defying-social-distancing
  22. Can someone explain to me why cruise ship employees are still stuck on the boats? If they don't have Covid, why would they not be allowed off the ship? And, even if they did have a mild case of Covid, their 14-21 day quarantine would be well over by now.
  23. My 5th wife was a quintessential dragon lady. And, if she set her tweezers aside for a few days.....well, let's just say I never actually called her a bearded dragon.
  24. Loss of smell has been known to by a symptom. New study indicates that there is a correlation between loss of smell and how serious the particular case is. Basically, loss of smell might be an early indicator of more serious symptoms to come, whereas those cases where the person does not lose smell typically tend to be milder. https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/the-one-symptom-that-predicts-how-bad-your-coronavirus-case-will-be/ar-BB13QeKi?ocid=msedgntp
  25. High school fall sports are definitely at risk. I'm actually concerned about high school basketball. With how bad things are in the Indy area, will Marion County schools still be remote learning?
