42in vert? my lanta

Yes guys--- insert "derrr but can he shoot" jokes. We get it.

Those are some pretty ridiculous highlights for a dude that's not even ranked.

The relevance is this guys highlight tapes are all of him just being a freakish athlete. It’s hard to get my hopes up for a guy like this when I think about JG

Plus, they never show the missed shots, or blown defensive assignments.

For context there are some differences between this kid and JG. Blazi is 6’8 with a 7’2 wingspan. He’s also a possible redshirt candidate if thing workout right. I personally think he’s worth the risk as the 13th guy on the roster for a year.

I still don't understand. They're two different people, kids, and situations.

Example-- what if this kid isn't done growing? What if he's a punk? Lets get him on a visit and find some stuff out..

That's the vetting part. The part Archie sucked at, Crean tried too often, and Woodson hasn't been stellar at..

But ultimately we have 7 schollies..

I prefer scholly 12 or 13 to be used on a player like this.. kids "ceiling" looks like a walking mismatch at the modern 4.

There’s a big difference between elite athleticism and elite instinctive athleticism. JG is still looking for the light switch, this kids blocks give the impression of instinctive athleticism. The  timing of the jumps was pretty impressive.

This kind of confirms the thoughts I had looking at this. Probably a guy we’d like after he develops, but not a guy to count on for immediate impact next year.

I totally agree with what you’re saying. I’m not saying I don’t want him or to take a chance on him what I’m saying is that for people overly optimistic just to take a step back and pray he develops.

Also, there are different types of athleticism.  I’d call Geronimo a straight line athlete.  Can run and jump.  But this young man is far more agile.  It’s a totally different type of athlete when you look at them laterally.  Some of those drives through the lane, no way could Geronimo do that.

As a low risk-high reward prospect… I was sold on that volleyball spike/block that bounced 13 feet after smashing the floor. Kidding aside, you never know until you know. What I know is that you always recruit athletes with major upside. Sometimes you end up with an OG Anunnoby or Victor Oladipo, and worst case… a guy that doesn’t crack the rotation and transfers after two years. Either way, sign me up for the potential and sell me on the work.

Looks like he is playing against 5th graders…worst defense I’ve ever seen. I can’t tell anything about him other than yes he is athletic….but the competition looks terrible!

There's a haphazard-ness to Blazi's game that reminds me a bit of Troy Williams. Just that desire to fly all around the court and then bang on someone.

And I don't see that as a negative. Sure, he's rough around the edges. And maybe given the lack of certainty of more established players on the roster at this point in time, including him isn't the best decision, but I do think having someone capable of creating havoc is a nice element for a team to have. If nothing else, it provides a level of entertainment, which is the reason we all watch.
