Joe is smart. So is Theo. Both know what's being said and how it plays out in fan world. Theo gets criticized for moves/trades. Joe gets criticized for players not performing. Part of the deal. Not sure who is right or wrong. I think they work perfectly together. Hope it continues....considering it's the greatest Cubs success in our lifetime.

Always remember the easiest "fix" is to fire the manager...the Cubs(and I hope Theo realizes this) better understand that Joe WILL be a sought out commodity if he is cut loose.  And he will win wherever goes.

Know it all well. I don't like conventional thinking though. I think it's lazy and sometimes can come back and bite a team or program.

Well the Reds game got out of hand quickly with the Nats scoring 6 runs in the 5th.  Bauer had only given up 1 run on 1 hit before the inning.  If the Reds lose this game then they will be like 3-18 against the Nats in the last 4 years.  The Nat showed how small ball cam work in the 3rd when they got a single, a stolen base, a sac bunt and then a san fly for a run.  The Reds had 2 on and no outs but it took 3 wild pitches for them to score there only run.  Winker led off the 4th with a hit but no speed or threat to steal a base he did not score.

Maybe I just don't understand modern baseball...

Hamels hasn't been sharp...4 runs in 2 innings...he comes up in the top of the 3rd with 1 out and Caratini at 1st...got a nice ovation from Phillie fans...and never squares to bunt...2 swings and a called 3rd strike...

What am I missing here?

A dinger would have cut that lead in half.

BTW, Hamels is single-handily cratering my sons fantasy league team tonight.

Yeah, he does have 2 dingers in a 14 year career...but to be fair, 4 of those years were in the AL with the Rangers...

The Cubs just look so uninspired...

Getting tired of trying to rationalize or understand these Cubs. When you suck this bad on the road there's nothing much to say. I know Cole was bad last night and has been recently.....but I got bigger concerns with our offense.

I want to be respectful of other teams fans but there is absolutely no way this team should be tied for first or whatever they are. That's how bad this team..especially on the road.

Zobrist goes to AAA this weekend, and he has to be on the roster by September 1st to qualify for post season play. I keep tricking myself into believing what will spur this team...

If we get closer like Kimbrel

If we get more bullpen help

If we get some trade deadline help

When Kimbrel and Contreras get healthy

If we get Zobrist back

I'm hopeful...but it would not surprise me at all if the Cubs miss the playoff this year...

For the Kyle Schwarber fans. 1 home run away from 100. Would be the quickest to 100 in Cubs history.

Really the quickest? That’s super surprising to me. I knew he’d hit homers but also thought his batting average would be a lot better than it has been. Career .229 hitter?

It surprised me as well...so did finding out that Bryant holds the "record" now for the Cubs.
