Not actually pets, but we have a couple of pretty cool birds that have taken up residence on the property...

A Pileated Woodpecker

And a Red Shouldered Hawk

Not that I'm a bird expert... If you look at the pictures in Microsoft Lens, it'll identify them for you 🙂

I've tried over the years to get pictures of Pileated's and others like Bald Eagles, Osprey, Hawks and Owles, but have never come close to these good of pictures! Well done, or just lucky! Used to hear the ke, ke,ke of Pileateds quite often in Georgia. Rarely got to see them let alone get a good picture, they are a very shy bird!

The woodpecker was in the tree right out the back door yesterday morning as I was going to feed the horses... The hawk I saw through my man cave window and snuck around back to get a good shot...

Luckily, I had a camera (as we all do) with me 😉

Camera might be the difference! I remember sneaking around the cabin in Wisconsin to get a picture of a Pileated. All I had was my phone. Still, probably the best picture I ever got of one.

Great pics!  I would have incorrectly guessed a Cooper's Hawk.  Thanks for posting!

Not sure I’ve mentioned our latest kitten fosters, but they are a trip.

The boy Misha watched the first half of the game with me today. He was obsessed with the movement of the players and I guess the squeaking of the shoes. He was doing this pretty much the entire time.

I would have liked to see him watching Fran freak out.

Has anyone gotten into sports/competitions with their pets?

We’re starting to do some dog sports. We’ve been training for k9 agility for a few months and hope to compete soon for the first time.

My Great Dane could out nap any of you sons of guns, or your dogs..... that kind of a sport? Or 😄

We've had a couple of guests this week... My youngest left her 2 dogs with us while they showed our granddaughter the wonders of Disney World... She'll pick up Bravo (Golden... 10 months old with a bit of energy 🙂) and Marcy (Corgi and the sweetest, smartest, and best behaved dog on the planet... Perfect) today...

I was never really a cat person, but this is my girl... The most beautiful cat I've ever seen... She adopted us when we moved here 10+ years ago... My first interaction every day... She lets me know she's hungry as soon as I walk out the door...

My son has a calico that adopted the family.

I couldn't stand cats growing up. About 12 years ago a stray showed up to the house and my wife got attached to it. The little kid next door was looking for his cat and it was the one that showed up. So we had to go adopt one. And well there is now.

Since I can't have a tiger and foxes don't make good pets, cats will have to substitute.  They are still technically wild animals. They just tolerate humans.

I did have a pet raccoon when I was growing up and we had an iguana. I guess I'm into exotics. But no snakes, lizards are fine though.

And of course there's always been a dog around.
