Reacher
Highly recommend the right shoes for hiking. I have one pair of hiking boots but generally prefer hiking shoes. I got a pair of Merrell trail runners for my trip to Africa. Super comfortable. Think light weight sneakers with good traction. Those and my keen sandals were all I needed for 2 weeks. Wife and I hiked Lions Head in Cape Town yesterday.

Look like they'd be kinda warm on the feet though...Waterproof? Upon further research, not waterproof. Ugh. Took them back today and got some actual hiking shoes that are waterproof and made for hiking.

Drroogh
So out hiking and hear a snap, pause and about 6ft away a branch crashes down. In my time I’ve had a few crashes but this was the closest!

I’m thinking this guy might have something to do with it.😫
jefftheref
Dropped my wife off Sunday in Bland, Virginia to resume her Appalachian Trail Adventure. She is doing another 150 miles in 10 days. I best be stocking up on Lume because she is going to be pretty ripe when I pick her up.

I also met her a couple times to resupply her with food and a change of clothes.

A couple of times when I have picked her up she has been pretty ripe, and not in a good way. She has completed 758.8 miles a little over 1/3 of the way. Hopefully I will still be alive when she finishes.
