Somebody get the memo to Woody that the scouts on HSN have detailed information that he may not have
This is a discussion board where people discuss topics, there is going to be differing opinions. Also fyi coaches make mistakes on players all the time.

Chet is a damn good prospect in the modern game. Mobile at 7'1, agile, skilled, can defend, and very good motor. He's probably underrated because people can't past his skinniness.
Any comparison to Shawn Bradley is lazy and ill informed.
To be honest if he is going to be compared to anyone it should be Durant. They have some of the same skillsets but Chet is probably a better defender at his age then Kevin was.

Only the big boys are going to survive with the NIL. We probably won’t be able to keep up with a Kentucky, Duke, or maybe even Kansas, but parity in College basketball will be gone.
Indiana can 100% keep up with those schools.

I don't think Scott will have to worry about Holmgren unless they get the first or second pick.
His head would explode if they somehow got the first or second pick and took Chet lol.

Had to have lunch today with a John Purdue club guy. Couldn't believe how far behind he was in his thinking about NIL and players.
He was one of those Painter will find his guys types....I just looked at him and said Painter is a fine person/good coach most of the time but if you don't get on board with NIL for your players you will be run over within a year or two.
Just got back so this thread and the news is hilarious timing.
Illinois, Indiana, OSU and Michigan are all embracing the NIL, probably other B1G teams that I haven't paid much attention to are also. Purdue and others that haven't taken advantage of it so far better catch up fast or like you said in the next year or two they will fall way behind. 👍

No proof he was contacted early. IMO, this one would’ve already been wrapped up for Purdue if NIL wasn’t a thing. Hopefully this is the wake-up call needed for us to realize it’s time to get the warchest assembled.
There isn't proof but that doesn't mean they didn't. In fact if I remember right you were the one saying they had been in contact for awhile, and this was right after he hit the portal.

i believe it was roughly 35 minutes after entering the portal he was a Purdue lock, no? 😂
Yeah I remember seeing some of their fans say that lol. 😁

Pack is committing tomorrow at 3:30
If he doesn't pick Purdue I am going to laugh my ass off. They were supposedly in talks with him for quite awhile, possibly even before he was in the portal. Some of their fans are saying the NIL is slimy and they don't want anything to do with it, but I guess contacting players early is ok. 🤦♂️

I'm just presenting information, not offering an opinion on it. The only thing I will say is that I will be very upset if we lose Jordan Geronimo due to a crowded roster. Otherwise, I'll take a wait and see attitude.
I'm not sure where I seen it, but the tweet said Jordan has no intentions of leaving. I would be pretty upset if we lost him and gained either Dennis or McNeil.

With all do respect to you had t I am going to trust the coaching staff over guys on the message board. We probably have only watched a few clips of Dennis where as coaches they probably have scouted him more thoroughly than we do. These coaches have been recruiting really well this past year so I will trust their judgement.
Ok since you are going to trust the coaching staff, never once should you question a player on the team if they are playing bad but still getting playing time. I don't know if you questioned Coach Woodsons rotations this season, but I don't want to hear one word from you about them, since you are going to trust him over message boards.

The stats I posted above lean towards him having more of a Galloway like impact.
We don't need another Galloway impact, we need someone that can shoot.
If the Hoosiers defense was bad I could see adding him, but while they were weak on the wing their whole 3point shooting as a team was weak. He just weakens it even more.

At the end of the day, they are going after him because they think he improves the team.
Who are the shooters out there that solve the need of shooting without creating a major liability in another area? There really aren't any. Pack would really be the only one I can think of, and we aren't in the running for him. All others that have experience are 35'ish% 3 point shooters. And you could make a case for or against whether that will translate to this team. Whether it's style of play, level of competition, etc.
There's no shooter out there that just wows anyone without being a bum in another area.
Your probably right that there might not be any shooters out there, that is why I would just stick with the team the way it is. We don't need another inefficient non shooter getting ample amount of playing time. And make no mistake if he does come to the Hoosiers he isn't joining them to get 10 to 15 minutes a game only. He has been a starter so they are going to play him over 20 minutes a game I would guess.

I’ll support him and I trust Woody but Dennis doesn’t move the needle much nationally. Hope he proves me wrong, if he even commits.
I think he is just Rob 2.0.
I hope he works out, but like you said I don't think he moves the needle at all.

He doesn't possess this ability?
He is decent at it. But he is clearly being sought after for his defense not his ok ability to break down off the dribble. His offense is nothing special, in fact it is pretty pedestrian . I will assume that you watched the Hoosiers last season and should know this, but every single person that knows anything about college ball will tell you that their biggest problem was shooting the three. Dennis doesn't help that at all.

We have solved our biggest problem which was not enough guys being able to break the defense down off the dribble.
We can develop shooting.
That isn't why they are going after Dennis, they are going after him for his defense, not his supposed in your mind ability to break defense down off the dribble. We need shooters and he isn't it. Bates and Galloway MIGHT improve their shooting but it would be nice to have a player that is already a good shooter if they don't.

If we add him we still haven't solved our biggest problem, shooting.

You mean 40.0 33.6 33.6 and 29.7 respectively. Yours make it look a tiny tiny bit better looking on a forum, but it is still bad. 😁

Rumor is, Calipari was spotted in Kokomo today.
Maybe he is at the dirt track there looking to buy a sprint car. He isn't a threat to win anything in college basketball anymore so he might be looking to change his profession.

Decent little pickup if they do get him. He won't replace what they lost but he will maybe help them sneak into the Top 25 occasionally this season.
