....Interesting post I found on a rival IU message board.....

"Some people who were there are saying another car with a gun was at a stoplight next to X's car, there were some words exchanged or something like that. I'm not sure this is solely a Mike Woodson decision,....this might be a Scott Dolson, President Whitten, and Woodson decision. We've had some football players make some really bad decisions lately, beating up girlfriend, having pot in the car, and running from the police, none of them were dismissed."

Everything is rumors right now. One message board was supposedly saying he was doing 150mph.

What he got arrested for and what he ends up charged with are probably two different things.

Everything will probably be dropped down to misdemeanors and he in all probability will be given Pre-Trial diversion which is basically stay out of trouble for however long it is.

Why did knight assault the officer? He just decided to go out on the street and put a jack ass in a garbage can? Tell the whole story or trap shut.

He punched a police officer over the use of a gym, that was currently being used by the Brazilian national team. And if I remember right refused to return to Puerto Rico for the trial. It has been a long time so not sure about all of it. He broke the law and had other incidents, so I guess in the eyes of some on here he should have been fired way before he was. Also Mark Few probably should have been fired also shouldn't he?

  4. One thing that is lost in all this, we can all go back to not liking Matta now, or at least I can. All he is to me now is a former Buckeye and current Bulldog coach that took a one-year vacation in Bloomington. His time or impact for the Hoosiers wasn't enough for me to give two 💩 that he is gone.

My hot take, my decision on X as Woodson would almost be completely controlled by what TJD decides.  If he leaves, I would probably ask X to go, turn the ball over to the young guys and start the rebuild.  I don't think we do much without TJD anyway.

If TJD is staying, I give him another chance and make a push for a BIG title.

I doubt very much that whatever Trayce decides to do will have any impact on Woodsons decision about Xavier, nor should it.

    going 90 in a 45?

Yes and it is still only considered a Class C Misdemeanor in Indiana, which usually amounts to a slap on the wrist. So I don't know what your point is. Yes it was stupid but  people need to quit acting like he did the crime of the century.

I didn’t like Fide getting let go at first but wasn’t looking at it as a terrible thing, but now that Matta is leaving, I’m starting to wonder what the heck is going on?

While I didn't like Fife getting let go Matta is getting a head coaching job, completely different situation.

Really, what CMW chooses to do is moot at this point until the legal process works it’s way through the system. He may not even have a decision to make if the decision is made to prosecute X to the fullest. On the other hand, he may get no more than a slap on the wrist. If that happens, then Woodson will have to make a decision.

Personally, unless this becomes much more serious than what we know now, removing X from the team seems too drastic.

And, agree with @IUFLAin that what happened at Pitt is as irrelevant as what happened at your former jobs not impacting how you are treated on your current position

These will all be misdemeanors most likely so he will probably get probation or Pre-Trial diversion. Which amounts to staying out of trouble with a slap on the wrist.

My god this was not speeding it was reckless driving and resisting arrest.  Speeding is going 55 in a 45 and not 90 in a 40

My god reckless driving for speeding is just a Class C misdemeanor, which also includes driving to slow or passing a car on a slope or curve.

This was not a speeding ticket but reckless driving and resisting arrest.  I know I would since I am a courier and drive all day long.

In Indiana you can get a reckless driving charge for going to slow lol.

I am pretty sure it is just a misdemeanor

If the boss found out about it I would think most professions would fire the employee.

Scott he was speeding, something everyone on these forums has done. Then he panicked and tried to switch places so it looked like he wasn't driving, not the smartest thing to do but not the crime of the century.

Even with family members there is a breaking point when you have to just let go and let that person get the help needed.  I saw my aunt and uncle keep getting my two cousins out of trouble time after time because of alcohol and drugs but it never helped.  They kept drinking and eventually killed both of them.  One because of the liver damage and the other throwing up while passed out and he died.

As far as I know this is his first run in with the law. If it was a regular thing then you might have a point but I haven't heard of any other ones.

All I’m saying is if you all had a family member who was killed by a driver speeding (I’ve had 2) one in a car and 1 on a sidewalk who was 7 years old and your little brother and he was hit by a driver going 50 in a 25, you may look at it a little bit more serious than just a “ whoops bad decision”.In this situation thank goodness nobody was hurt.

Take out the basketball aspect and if that’s your family member who was potentially put it harms way, it’s serious to you then. Imagine your son or daughter is driving home and that car turns just a little bit the wrong way and hits them. There always potential for things to go wrong anytime you’re in a car, but definitely shows a severe lack of good decision making and disregard for anyone but himself. We’ve all made bad decisions, but just because he ain’t perfect and neither are we doesn’t mean it’s okay either.

In terms of being on the team I’ll leave that up to coach obviously, but I hope he learns his lesson regardless if he’s on the team or not and learns it isn’t all about X. If this was on somebody else’s team ya’ll would be all over him more than you are.

My only post on the subject.

I had a sister killed in a drunk driving accident, but that doesn't change my opinion about he shouldn't be kicked off the team. He is a young man that made a stupid mistake and hopefully he learns from it.

Well I have never been arrested or done anything that would warrant be put in jail.  I just don't see how it is so hard for kids to stay out of trouble and do the right things.

We all can't be perfect Scott lol. I for one have gotten in trouble for a lot worse then what Xavier did, and you know what was the best thing that came out of it, my family and friends didn't turn their backs on me and kick me out of their lives.

If these games showed us anything,  it should be we have to recruit on a national level.  Wanting kids from Indiana, just because they are from Indiana is not going to cut it.

If there is a top player from Indiana go after them, but like you said Hoosiers need to recruit nationally.👍
