This is going to sound harsh, so I want to say up front that I hope Trayce is able to obtain his dreams and play professionally in the NBA and blah, blah, blah...

That being said, as a fan, I care more about how the decisions impact the team as a whole.  I don't follow the NBA...like hardly at all.  On the off chance I do sit and watch, it would be the Pacers.  I wish the IU players well when they move on to the next level but outside of that, I don't really care because I am not them, a member of their family, or really much of a fan of the team they are professionally going to play for.

So I get where Scott is coming from.  We have not had too much of this type of thing yet, but you can ask Kentucky fans how great it is when the program's focus (per the coach) is getting guys to the league.  I want to watch IU win games so having decisions drag on that could impact the team I actually watch's ability to win next year is kind of annoying.  Even if I completely get it from the player's standpoint, it is still kind of a pain in the ass.

I guess we differ on what is important

Yeah I guess we do, yours is selfishly thinking of only your enjoyment as a Hoosier fan. Mine is thinking this kid has been a great ambassador for the Hoosiers so I hope he takes his time and does what is best for him. If it impacts the Hoosiers, then so be it those are the breaks in life.

For the most part, either go or stay.  For him personally I think it is the right thing to do but I am more worried how it effects IU going forward

I am not the least bit worried about how this affects IU, he has been one of the most dedicated Hoosiers of all time and if he wants to take his time then I say go for it, no matter the impact it has on the Hoosiers.

LOL, I love going to Rupps Rafters to put everything in perspective.

That lifetime contract they gave Cal was the definition of stupidity. He is safely collecting a big check while still getting players to the NBA. He has no reason to change the status quo and I am loving it. Very few blindly support him anymore.

I also wouldn't discount JHS getting Rob's minutes.  I feel like JHS is going to play just as good of defense as Rob, but actually provide a consistent offensive game as well. Nothing flashy, but an important role.

Yeah good point, I am a fan of Robs but his offense could be pretty frustrating at times. Hopefully even if Hood-Schifino defense isn't as good as Robs his offense is more consistent.

Key phrase is “if we get a shooter or two”. Without an added, elite shooter we aren’t much better. And if we add two, somebody else has to go. Only have one free spot.

Even if we don't I think both Bates and Galloway will make big jumps in their game and shooting. Also I wouldn't be surprised to see Leal improve and give the Hoosiers a shooter off the bench.

The Hoosiers being contenders in March all depends on the improvement of their younger guys like Bates, Galloway and Geronimo. I expect to see big jumps from those players.

Then we need a 3 point shooting wing from the portal.  Every guard and forward on the team better be working on the 3 ball all summer.  We should be in the BIG discussion preseason.

If we get a shooter or two or if a few players already on the team improves from the arc, with those two possibly returning I can easily see IU Top 15 to start the season. Which would make me do the happy dance lol.

Nijel Pack was visiting Purdue today according to my source

I don't think he is even on the Hoosiers radar, or at least I haven't heard anything about them even contacting him. From what some have been saying Purdue has been pulling a Kentucky and been in contact with him for a while now.

You need NBA talent to win, not necessarily one and done types. Talent is the way and always has been.

Well yeah of course you need talent, nobody is saying you don't, but it doesn't have to be all these 5-star players just passing through college to get to the NBA. Most championship teams have experience, just look at this years title game. It was mostly all upperclassmen with a few sophomores sprinkled in getting most of the playing time. And I think the only one to play in the title game that is a projected lottery pick is Agbaji.

If you look at the past few champions you will see teams where they had players stay 4 years like Villanova, Baylor and UNC. They all had older players and it didn't hurt them with players staying.

Yeah the one and done model for winning a championship is a thing of the past. Teams that win might still have them but experienced guard play or even just overall experience is the way to go now.

Yep....and I'd point to our friends from Champaign for that model. They've won plenty in the regular season the last 2 years....Ayo returning and losing...and Kofi returning twice and losing in tourney again has made life tough for Underwood on the recruiting trail.

Wish Coach would still post on here. He could explain better than I.

Yeah you definitely have to win in March.

I've tried a couple times to explain to our visiting friends on here and in the theme of consistency I'll say the same thing. We want TJD to go to the pros. We want him to get drafted and contribute. The sooner that happens...the sooner Coach Woodson can point to guys and say I can do the same for you.

As a selfish college fan I'd love for TJD to return. We could put up 25 wins next year....but long term the sooner we get guys to the league the sooner recruiting becomes just a bit easier.

*I know someone will come along and point out Kentucky results soon so I'll add I know.

I get what you are saying and you are right. But I will say another way of making it easier to recruit is winning, and TJD makes that easier. If the Hoosiers are winning they should have no problems getting good players.

This season he was 35-118 (29%) from 3. He ‘can’ hit them, but about as consistently as Race does.

He has made 176 in three seasons, at least he is willing to take them. We have players lately that get buck fever, or in this case three-point fever when they get outside the arc. Also he is a good defender which is a plus.

Ok, projected #21 was based on TJD and RT coming back for their last seasons. This doesn't mean anything other than Jeff Borzello getting paid for the article.

And Michigan and Illinois the only two teams ahead of the Hoosiers we're projected Top 20 only if Kofi and Hunter come back. The B1G is going to have to earn their respect next season unlike this year.

Yesterday some of us spent a lot of time talking about Home Depot. Is it a coincidence that I got an email that I did not sign up for and ads started appearing on my laptop and phone from Home Depot

I've had that happen before also. Kind of makes you go hmm that is odd. 👍

It took getting to the off-season, but we are ranked. #21 in the way too early ESPN rankings. 🎉🥳

Those rankings are catching up to the B1G failures in March anymore. The highest team is Michigan at 11th if Hunter returns and Illinois at #17 if Kofi returns, the Hoosiers are next at #21 if Trayce comes back. Not exactually great expectations for the B1G and the ones that are up there have some big question marks. Of course, these will all change by the start of the season and the rankings will end up with like 6 B1G teams ridiculously in them lol.

I think there's a ton of difference between Hubert Davis and Mike Davis, way in Hubert's favor...

Hubert has the NBA background, been around the program for more than a few years, and I think he'll recruit better. I actually think he's a great long term solution for UNC.

Scheyer? I'm not so sure about. I think he's a good Xs and Os guy, but can he keep Duke getting 5 star kids? I know he's got a nice haul for next year, but can he keep that momentum...

You could be right about Davis, but no one knows for sure. There have been other coaches that have had immediate success to only end up flaming out.

I admit, knowing Carolina and Duke was about to experience a coaching staff change. I wanted the same misery for their fan base that the IU fan base has had to endure. Actually I expected it. Dang it I was wrong…

Their misery could still happen, remember after the Hoosiers coaching change Mike Davis got to the Final Four also. Plus we have no idea how Dukes new coach is going to do. So hold off on saying you were wrong.

Oops I missed that Scott already said this lol
