He could always give himself an out in his contract should iu come calling. Of course, it is unknown if osu or Louisville would do something like that.
Going to Purdue didn't stop brohm from flipping to Louisville.
I don't know what dusty makes now but might be difficult to pass up millions regardless of how much he wants to be at iu.
I would probably take the job at osu or Louisville and try to make it as easy as possible for iu to steal me later.

They need to back off the "true fans" crap.
Well everyone knows people that like Woodson are the only ones that attend games.
Those that don't like Woodson are closet Purdue fans
It is known

'Chill out' is a phrase used by every 22 year old in the world in every situation. It's harmless and meaningless.
Woodson talking about 'true fans'? Yeah, that pissed me off.
It's combined with the part about you don't get an opinion unless you coached.
So what I learned is I better support woodson if i want to be a true fan and I need to go find a coaching job in order to have an opinion.

The thing is that what we see in public is probably only 25% of the things that players and coaches receive from fans. We saw the letter that TJD got last year from a fan. DD said he got to read a lot of the letters that was to coach Davis from the fans. He couldn't believe the hatred that came from these fans.
I am sure there is stuff that gets sent that is way out of line and most of us would probably agree on it.

I see nothing in Anthony's quote that I have an issue with, and I am not on Team Woodson.
It's a player defending his coach. One could argue Leal maybe should not have been giving a speech at all since he's coming back. But, since he had the opportunity, he should be able to share how he feels.
I was at Juwan Morgan's Sr. Day, and he never even mentioned Archie. He thanked Crean, but did not utter the words 'Coach Miller' at all.
THAT was much more of a red flag about the state of things than Leal coming to Woodson's defense. If anything, Leal has every right to be upset with Woodson that he did not get quality playing time earlier.
We should embrace Leal's attitude, selflessness, and commitment instead of criticizing him for defending his coach.
It's not the coming to woodson's defense that people take issue with.. It's the "there's a reason you guys aren't coaches" line that seems to indicate people who haven't coached don't get an opinion. and then at the end telling people to chill.
People are allowed their opinion regardless of their coaching experience. Just like Leal, who has never coached, is allowed his opinion.

I was addressing that the whole time. Jesus christ. You don't think the fans play a role in the mental taxation of the D1 athlete?
What are we even doing at this point? Absolute waste of time if you can't follow along any better than this.
says the person that misquotes me.
I don't think the fans treat players poorly. And if players are taxed by fans that criticize their play on the court, then maybe they should stay away from social media.

You verbatim asked "Care to explain what shit they have to put up with?"..... so, again, you not understanding the struggles an athlete can go through is an interesting perspective to have in regards to this discussion. But because you think they get free shit it's easy? Crazy. I guess, using your words, I would call that pathetic.
Didn't say it was easy and I was asking about what shit do they have to put with from fans, given that was the subject at hand. You are trying to move the goal posts.

No, I am not acting like that, at all.
Not understanding how mentally taxing what some of our players go through, a lot of D1 athletes go through is an interesting perspective to have in regards to this discussion, though. Your words.
But getting all butthurt over AL's words from Sunday is just wild.
Those were not my words. Have issues with reading and comprehending?
Pathetic.

Right, until you realize these are actual people.
and?
Does that mean no one can have a negative opinion on what they say publicly or on how they perform on the court?
You are acting like we are defending death threats or even personal insults against the player. Talk about an over-reaction.

Wasn't necessary? If you are in Leal and TG's shoes, and feel the way they do... they seem VERY necessary.
Idk the types of shit these guys gotta put up with from fans.
Care to explain what shit they have to put up with? I bet for the most part treated very well by fans and they are big men on campus.
Any negatives they are dealing with in regards to fans are probably the same shit all players in the past have put up with as well, except now they are getting paid 6 figures.
Sorry but I don't think even other students would feel sorry for their lot in life.

Everytime this old man sees that I'm thinking what does a football quarterback have to do with basketball?? 🤪

We need to be a little thicker-skinned, then. We could just, you know, listen to AL.
He's a human, he's allowed to have an opinion, a voice.
Fans are allowed an opinion too...and without claiming they aren't true fans.

I would assume the staff has been talking to the team for weeks about not paying attention to the noise from the outside. Using the phrase the true fans are here to support you, show up to and watch the games. That would be the reason for using the term in their speeches.
Again if we can give them shit over how they are playing and coaching then they can give it back. If your butt hurt over the term true fan and some one calling you out about it. Maybe you’re not the true fan. This isn’t directed at anybody personally or staying anyone isn’t a true fan. Just don’t understand why everyone cares that much. I consider myself a fan. I can question them and bitch when they lose. I can critique the performance of players and coaches. That’s my right as a fan. The players and coaches have the right to call us out if they want. I will still be a fan today tomorrow next year and the year after it.
of course they have the right to say what they want..
And i have the right to think what they said was dumb and unnecessary.

Not much dissecting required. IUFLA didn't seem to know what he said so I provided the quote.

No, Woodson did
What Anthony said wasn't much better
"I do gotta make something very clear," Leal continued. "Adversity is part of sports, and for those of you who are so quick to give up and call for quits and everything, there's a reason that you guys aren't coaches. So relax. There's no other coach in the country that I would trust with anything in my life than coach Woodson, and there's no other university I'd want to represent. So we're gonna run it back, but you guys gotta chill."

XJ playing out of control and XJ getting his moment at senior night are 2 separate things. I doubt anyone hates XJ just because they might not think he was God's gift to the hardwood.

No. I'm going to have a hard time buying anyone put off by Leal and Galloway publicly supporting their embattled coach feels that way because they wanted Senior Night to be about celebrating Xavier Johnson. Be honest.
I am being honest.
I don't think drawing a line in the sand like that and pretending like you have to be a fan of every coach and player in order to be a "TRUE FAN" is appropriate regardless but senior night was most definitely not the time nor the place.
So yea, if they had drawn the line in the sand on another day and time, I still would have said it was a crap thing to do but that doesn't make me dishonest about thinking they shouldn't have done it on senior night.

What Woodson, Leal and to a lesser extent Galloway don't grasp is that their actions on senior night overshadowed what it was supposed to be about...those that graduated and have played their final game at IU (XJ and Walker). Instead of the focus being on them and their accomplishments, it was about true fans and not true fans and drawing a line in the sand.
