  1. One word I want officially retired from all platforms at ESPN and other talking heads. "Sources" Every single sports journalist in America was dead wrong. Not one had an inkling this was going to happen. In fact my guess is Jerry West somehow let it be leaked that Raptors or Lakers stuff was solid to provide a smokescreen for the deal. No clue where this trade ends up historically but this has a Herschel Walker feel to it.
  2. One other thing I'll add. Amazing how badly Kawhi said he wanted to play with PG. Did Bird or anyone at the Pacers know this?
  3. I'm still in awe of how well Jerry West executed this. I don't care about the Clippers or Kawhi or PG at all but this was brilliant. Reminds of how well Sampson executed the Eric Gordon stuff. Waited to the last minute so Bubbles thought he still had a chance and flipped. Weber didn't have time to recover and essentially ended his time at Illinois.
  4. This is going to be funny when people start connecting the dots. Paul George used to date Doc Rivers daughter. He cheated on her with a stripper in Miami. Think they've already discussed before because I'm assuming some reporter will ask about it.
  5. If I'm OKC this morning I have to figure out the direction of the franchise. Do they try and start over with so many picks like Boston did? Try to get rid of Westbrook and just do a major rebuild??
  6. Pretty much standard for him. Until proven otherwise I don't think they'll win a title with him. He did what he did with Pacers, said yes to OKC, said no to Lakers, reaffirmed his stance in OKC....now headed to Clippers. His team/advisors have had a rough few years.
  7. Regarding the timing part of this deal, trade,etc....somewhere this morning Jerry West is smiling ear to ear and showing people why he's still the best in the business. The delay was strategy. The execution and timing was perfect. Lakers will still be really good (might still be the best) but these moves by Clippers were made to get the most and leave others scrambling. Jerry West folks. To me draft picks (especially where they'll be getting them) have never been worth less.
  8. Wow. Didn't see Kawhi choosing Clippers....and I certainly didn't see Paul George getting traded last night. Pretty much shows what the OKC folks thought of the prospects of he and RW playing/working together. Master moves by Clippers getting this one done.
  9. Yep. Hopefully one of these next 2-3 years everything clicks and we don't have another big injury. East is open for business.
  10. That's what I really like what Pritchard is doing. Character guys that fit well. Hopefully it will translate to W's.
  11. So when Kawhi announces for Lakers are we assuming Lakers replace GSW next year as favorites out West? Anyone else going to be able to top Lebron, Davis, and Kawhi?
  12. Just one factor and I know it's only $5-$6M (still a chunk of change) is no state income tax in Florida vs whatever the rate is in Pennsylvania. Not just contract, but endorsement $, shoe deals,etc....would love to know the total savings for guys when they choose Florida, Texas, Arizona over other states.
  13. My cousin works at Marquette. Big Bucks fan. When news broke last night he was ticked. Said Brogdon is not only a very good player but a perfect locker room and fit guy for Pacers and what the city/state look for in their hoops players. Of course every signing or draft has some risk (his is injury history) but his upside to me is far greater than upside of others we let go. Worth the risk in my opinion.
  14. Very well said. Target the young up and coming second tier guys is perfect. Hopefully we hit because if Vic can return to form (even in January) the East is pretty wide open. Could be just a matter of getting hot at the right time in March.
  15. Yep. The small market stuff has just been a crutch for years for owners/fans. If a team is run correctly....anything can happen. Like you said yesterday was a perfect example of it.
  16. Even as dysfunctional as the Knicks are I get why this specific contract wasn't extended. Of course much like IU basketball....after a couple of decades your fans want something. Anything. Especially in pro game. I'm not a Durant fan so I feel very, very confident in saying this. Kyrie and Durant is pure train wreck.
  17. Can any of the diehard NBA guys/gals/fans let us know about Pacers moves? Seems to me on surface pretty good. Tough spot to navigate contracts,etc...but getting a proven scorer in Brogdon, add Lamb....seems good on paper.
  18. So happy for Thomas Bryant. 3 years. $25 Million. Lifetime $ now. Hard work does pay off!!
  19. Yep. Bulls. Took the $ because the Bulls will suck for about another 15 years. Train wreck of an organization on all levels.
  20. Really happy about the Brogdon/Lamb addition. Hate losing Bojan....but they snapped back pretty quick. My limited knowledge seems like Pacers just said they would rather have Turner and those 2 guys instead of keeping Bojan and not getting others. That make sense? I'm feeling pretty good with these moves. Probably wrong on my part.
  21. Wow. Lose Bojan but get Brogdon who I think is one of the best free agency moves we could do. Really, really like Brogdon.
  22. I know it's not your opinion but Doyel saying that might be the dumbest thing I've heard in awhile i.e. politics. (I know we can't discuss so I'll just leave it there). Regarding night life. I'm still amazed at people who think Indy is boring. Maybe 20 years ago but literally something for everyone all over the city. Mass Ave, Fountain Square, Canal, Ripple, Keystone, Carmel,etc.....people suggesting Indy is boring obviously haven't been out in a couple of decades.
  23. Regarding Collison. My guess is come December Lebron will lob a call and say we need you and he'll be a Laker before end of the season.
  24. Seems like the Lakers followed up on what we were discussing last week. They cleared space to now have another max guy.
  25. Just a thought on what Pacers would give up to get Gordon. If they believe with him and a healthy Vic (after January 1st) they are better than this year's team I'd say offer up next year 1st round choice. Assuming we improve that pick would be in the 20's....I'd take what I know we're getting in Eric Gordon vs the unknown of a 1st round pick in the 20's.
