  1. Just a thought on what Pacers would give up to get Gordon. If they believe with him and a healthy Vic (after January 1st) they are better than this year's team I'd say offer up next year 1st round choice. Assuming we improve that pick would be in the 20's....I'd take what I know we're getting in Eric Gordon vs the unknown of a 1st round pick in the 20's.
  2. Wow. Durant declined option with GSW now unrestricted free agent. Must really either A) want out of there or B) extremely confident someone will pay regardless of health.
  3. That's what I'm thinking. If they could make this work it would be an ideal scenario given what Pacers have to spend, what they need, and willingness of a player to come here.
  4. Pacers would be the 3rd team in the Rockets/76ers deal.
  5. Question for those that follow NBA very closely and understand contracts. If Houston is serious in wanting to bring Jimmy Butler in could they potentially ask Pacers to be part of 3 team trade to get salary relief? Possibly sending Gordon to Pacers where he could play 2 until Vic returns? Somebody just tweeted this out and thought it was a good point. Pacers need shooting. Have a need at 2 guard until Vic returns.
  6. B all day long....but I'm not a fan of Russell and I'm certainly not interested in paying him $10M more per year than our franchise star (Vic). The second you do that deal is the second you better have $ ready for Vic.
  7. No doubt. Hopefully he gets his stuff together....but even at 31 people still make plenty of mistakes. He's got plenty of time.
  8. Agree all day. I was surprised some people actually thought he was mid first material but like you said once you get to the 2nd round I don't see much risk. Speaking of Oden. Was watching him yesterday for Ice Cube's Big3 tourney here in Indy. Hard to believe he's only 31. Guy has been on the front page for what feels like 15 years....and still only 31. Shoot he's already lived 2-3 lives and has 2-3 more coming. Just nice to see him on the court. Hopefully he can make the best of these chances.
  9. Agree all day. Somehow the NBA Owners and Manfred are going to have to get control of this. My fear is the problem is already so far gone they can't.
  10. Willie Cauley Stein apparently wants out of Sacramento. I wish there was a way to penalize a player in situations like this. What I mean is they don't honor the deal they aren't eligible for supermax deal or whatever it's called. All a player has to do is say he wants a fresh start and poof....an organization who invested a top 6 pick 4 years ago might have nothing to show for it. I know it's never going to happen and probably shouldn't but the NBA has a runaway freight train of a problem with these players forcing teams hands.
  11. We were discussing a bit earlier and my understanding is there's a reason Kawhi hasn't signed his deal. He can be absorbed into the Lakers deal without cap expectations? Not sure. Seems like there's plenty of ways to manipulate this thing but the biggest point still remains. What do the Lakers have to offer to Raptors in order for this to work?
  12. My limited understanding is they've been clearing cap space all week to make it happen for either Kawhi or possibly Kyrie.
  13. Cool. Some cryptic tweets from Kuzma last night suggested Kawhi/Lakers. Probably reading a bit much into it.
  14. Ok...saw some tweets last night and this morning. Seemed to imply Lakers.
  15. For those that follow more closely than I. Is it pretty much assumed Kawhi going to Lakers?
  16. Yep. I thought everyone knew that part. It's been brewing. Maybe Rajon Rondo wasn't that far off in his assessment of Paul last October? Basically said he's not the guy everyone thinks.
  17. Chris Paul demanding a trade. PS...He's scheduled to make $38M next year and I believe $41M the next 2 seasons. He's 34 year old point guard. What planet does this guy live on? Chris Paul is one of those guys who who always seemed to have a good guy reputation but maybe Dakich has been right all these years. Has called him a total fraud for years.
  18. Pelicans did pretty well all things considered with Davis certainly leaving. They get Ball to go with Jrue. They'll draft Zion...to go along with Ingram. Will be curious to see if they trade the 4th for a Veteran to pair with others. The 2021 pick to me is worthless because Lakers won't be that bad. They get 2022 and can swap picks in 2023...assuming the 2023 could be valuable because Lakers are setup to win over next 2-3 seasons after that they could tank thus making their pick potentially a lottery pick. NBA is breathing a sigh of relief this morning. Lakers are least marketable now for next year.
  19. My 5 seconds of research came up with 2 names. Randy Williams and Leroy Gamble. Both on the 1958-59 team. 2 players from Gary in 60 years. Haha.
  20. Yep. Warriors beat Spurs once when Kawhi was out. Warriors beat Cleveland without Kyrie and Kevin Love. Injuries part of the deal. We all hate them but they happen.
  21. Kudos to Raptors and owners for making a move to get Kawhi and having it payoff. Wish the Pacers would to the same one of these years. Every time I see VanVleet play I'm always amazed. Here's a kid from Rockford, Illinois. Literally hours from Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern and others and zero scholarship offers. Wichita St and I think Colorado St were the only 2 schools to offer. I understand why we didn't (Yogi) but to get zero looks from Big 10?
  22. Agree....and just to clarify. I'm not saying trading Turner is a bad idea (I still like him) but I don't want to trade him for Conley.
  23. Agree with this all day long. Glad to hear there are others who feel the same. Getting rid of Turner now just doesn't make any sense....but getting rid of him for Conley makes even less sense. Maybe my NBA brain isn't working the right way.
  24. You didn't like Lance? Give me a few of him for every team.
