  1. Used to do a fair amount of air travel but now it's limited to just a few trips each year. For our posters who travel the skies often I'm sure they could add several. My few are those who try to run up the aisle and get off plane before others, people who take their shoes off while flying to be comfortable, those who can't seem to talk at a normal tone to the person next to them, and the window seat passenger who gets up 4-5x during a flight. Was on a flight from Indy to Atlanta few weeks ago. Air travel is about 1 hr 15 minutes. This must have been some active bladder because it was 4x during the flight alone. Never an offer of I'm sorry or whatever.
  2. I'll add one more point to the NBA. Have to be some pretty nervous folks at NBA offices and ESPN. Ratings are already down 25% for Finals. Can you imagine if Lakers/Lebron don't get their stuff figured out and now add Kevin Durant. 2 of the games biggest stars out again next year come playoff time?
  3. Huge implications on plans for multiple teams and the scenario that makes the most sense now is stay with Golden St, rehab the injury and get paid $31.5M next season. I can't imagine a GM (even for the Knicks) saying yes to huge $ with an injury like that. Probably makes Anthony Davis the main prize this off season followed by Kyrie I guess. Really a shame for KD. Never been a fan but never like seeing injuries. Regarding game last night. Hats off to GSW...just back to back to back $ shots.
  4. There's a few of us there who are there often. I know he goes every day at 1 or 4pm so I generally try to avoid those slots. Between CSPAN and History Channel (which I would be fine with).....I'm good with most as long as the volume is up. The mornings I'm screwed because there are sets of women at 9 and 10 who watch the house rehab shows....which is why I settled into the midday gym time.
  5. Depends on day and time. Law and Order reruns on WE happen on Tuesday and Wednesday along with Sunday so I usually try to find the episode I like best. Of course POP TV has Beverly Hills 90210 reruns M-F from 11-3 so I usually do one of those depending on episode. Comedy Central runs The Office often so if I can find an hour I'm good. Otherwise...especially during this past season I watch an IU game on the elliptical. Takes the tension off.
  6. My hood has a small gym at the clubhouse. Nothing fancy. 8-9 machines. 3 TV's,etc....and there's an unwritten code whoever gets there first can control the tv/sound,etc...I've been forced to watch house rehab shows, anything on bravo many, many times over the last 10 years. But my peeve is this. At least turn the volume up. Nothing worse than watching a show at the gym AND you can't hear what the people are saying. There's one guy who is a rock, early 80's so I want to be careful but he likes to watch CSPAN. With no volume. To the point now when I walk in and see him I do an about face.
  7. Yep. Somehow it's our fault when politely asking the kids parents if they mind controlling their own. Keeping on that topic and since it's wedding season...peeve of mine is the outrage from the couple or family member saying they won't be coming because the bride/groom chose for it to be adult only wedding reception. Am going to one this Friday night and I know exactly how 2 of my buddies wives will be the entire time. Facetime on, texting/talking about nothing else besides her kids and eventually my 1 friend will have enough and mention why in the hell did you guys even come. Fun times!
  8. And this is what Johnny or Sally did for the 4th time today. I get scared for people who have to post an update that often.
  9. My list is a bit long. But that probably says more about me. I'll keep it consistent with grocery aisle for time being. 90 items in the self checkout. Or 4 items in the self checkout with 3 different forms of payment. Or multiple bags and people all chipping in to pay for 1 item each. Like I said my list is long. Curious to see how this one plays out. I can complain or find pet peeves with tons of things. Like I said. Probably more about me.
  10. I think you might have misunderstood my post. In the NFL the cap is a hard cap. Penalties are $5m plus potentially losing picks, draft choices,etc....no NFL owner in their right mind would go over. When I said Irsay will spend....between facilities, infrastructure, coaches, gm's,etc.....isn't even close what the Colts have and will spend compared to what Simon's have shown. At least that's my opinion.
  11. Last sentence all day long. Regarding the money part. No clue on ins and outs. I know that if an owner wants to spend he or she can. Some owners will while others are content with the idea you always have to build via the draft. Obviously the draft is the foundation but peppering it with a free agent superstar can happen. I equate it to college hoops. Build a program with solid 4 star guys and add an elite level 5 star to the mix. Same theory in NBA will work and should happen. Simon's have been very good to the city and I think in turn we've been good to them. That's the thing (even with some of his faults) you can't harp on Irsay about. He'll spend whatever is necessary to field a title team/organization.
  12. As a Pacers fan we're forced to remember that Kawhi Leonard was traded by Larry Bird to San Antonio for George Hill. Thanks Larry!! Kudos to Toronto. Maybe this might force or motivate the Pacers one of these decades to actually unhinge the Simon purse strings and go get a superstar. That whole small market stuff may have been true years/decades ago but hasn't been in awhile. In ALL sports.
  13. Just a general question or comment. Is it possible we underestimate how great Steph Curry is? He seems to never be mentioned in the coveted all time discussions. Admittedly I'm not a daily NBA fan so maybe he is but when people bring up the greatest it's always Jordan, Lebron, Kobe,etc...and rightfully so but it seems we never discuss the greatness of Steph Curry.
  14. GSW now 6-1 and 31-2 overall without Durant. I'll never subscribe to a theory where you take a great player off a team and they are better. Numbers are very impressive for the other guys.
  15. PS. Golden St is still pretty good.
  16. Yep. I'm pretty frugal but this is one thing I'm going to have to do at some point.
  17. Anyone ever do the glamping or tiny houses for rent in infield at 500? I'm not sure I would want to do 2-3 days at the track but an overnight on Saturday and wake up inside the joint on Sunday morning would be cool.
  18. I'm a little late to the party on him but he can drive. I'm a Stewart guy in all circuits but Rossi reminds me a little of Harvick. Can drive and has an edge to him. Different series I know but just similar.
  19. Rossi really growing on me. Almost like a Kanaan type. Phenomenal finish. Big Thanks to Mother Nature. No rain and blue skies for the last part. Rain out 50 miles South of IMS. We dodged one for sure. Now I need to get a second wind.
  20. Rain is staying away so far. Local guy is saying rain threats are weakening. Storms will still happen in the area but just might be later...
  21. Been watching on this one. http://ustvgo.net/nbc/ Hopefully it works for others. Regarding race. Chevy is flexing.
  22. My official and final race day forecast attempt. Rain all morning until 10/11am. Looks like a 4-5 hour window after that point. I actually think the race is ran in it's entirety. Track also has a new sealant which helps in drying. Only takes 60-90 minutes instead of 2-3 hours. In terms of the race itself. Pagenaud has been the fastest all month. Rossi has been very fast in traffic. Hard to discount veterans who know what it takes for 500 miles. If I were betting I would say Power, Rossi, Carpenter, Dixon, Kanaan is my top 5. If people are in pools if you need a cheap option that seems to always finish well is the oldest driver in the field Oriol Servia. Have a great Race Day if headed out. Be safe there and back and Happy Memorial Day!
  23. Tough one because to a good portion of the fans the prerace festivities (America The Beautiful, Taps, Back Home Again in Indiana, Flyover, National Anthem) is the reason they attend and not the actual race. With that said I don't see why they couldn't bump it up 1 hour. Of course TV drives everything in the sports world and given this NBC's first go I can't imagine them agreeing to less air time...or more specifically I can't imagine their sponsors. IndyCar needs all the TV coverage we can get.
  24. No real way to predict the weather this weekend. Temps/Humidity/Dew Points all up. I think we are good on Sunday until 2/3 or so. Green Flag is at 1245. Several factors with many implications but wish they could move start time up just 1 hour. Might make all the difference in the world....or just the opposite. Delay the start of race until storms pass. I think they said they could start race as late as 530 or 6 and still complete. I know weather is part of racing but I'd prefer to see all 500 miles.
  25. I'll just add this to the thread. Today Show is at IMS this morning along with Tom Hanks, Sheryl Crow, Elizabeth Dole,etc....and NBC has really hit this coverage out of the park. Highlighting Indy but also the real cause of them being here today for Hidden Heroes project. Seeing all of the local coverage has been pretty cool too. Some celebrities just lend their name and move along but Tom Hanks (no shock) is really invested in this one too. He's been in town for only a couple of days but has attended roughly 6-7 pretty sizeable events raising awareness, money,etc... Great cause, Executed very well by all involved.
