Brings up an interesting question...
Could he have won at IU with the kind of kids we as a fan base want in our program?
He was 24-4 when Sampsongate hit. No, he didn’t recruit student athletes, the team was failing classes etc. But those dudes could play and let’s not forget EJ. Excellent coach, but no concern for academics at all.
The “rules” though were silly, they got him on phone call violations that were legal the next season. He got away from the NCAA ad they came down on Okla, it was a vendetta, and then IU self-reported -

I’m old enough to clearly remember 88, but 84 was one year before I started getting into IU basketball.
Luckily I was into IU basketball in 87, while at IU 😁

Richmond up 11 with a little over 3 to go — and espn kept having uk’s percentage of winning over 50 percent until recently

I’m not shocked. Richmond is no joke this year.
They generally have a good b-ball program. Now whether uk should be ranked 10 is another question

UK tied with Richmond in second half

Still making money.
He’ll never get much love from IU fans, IU was just a stopover for him on his way to the NBA, but I can’t ever fault a guy who chases his dream and succeeds. He’s a solid pro who has stuck in the League.

My oldest daughter (36) tested positive today...
Said she's feeling ok, can't taste anything, and has a low grade fever...
Very sorry to hear this but glad she otherwise is feeling ok. Now that we understand how to treat this Virus she will be in good hands. Our firm administrator had it and went through all the symptoms, but is now ok. Hoping your daughter recovers quickly

Keeping you and your wife in our thoughts.

From a coaching perspective, I like how Izzo holds them accountable for the full 40 minutes.
From an officiating perspective I like how Izzo holds the officials accountable ... oh wait

Would love to see Lander gain confidence and become really comfortable by Big Ten season. Imagine Lander and TJD putting Cockburn in the PnR all game long.
Lander’s been talking about running PnR with TJD from day 1, only a matter of time ....

Well Fouls reminded me I need to get around to buying a new Christmas tree. We can’t have real trees because my wife is allergic to them (dang it). Have had the same huge Xmas tree for the last ten years, but it has lost too many (fake) pine needles.
Now I will have the misfortune of thinking of Fouls every Christmas Day while looking at a new fake tree.... -

Golden State will be one of the intriguing stories of the year. They still have Steph and Draymond and a top 3 coach in Kerr along with Pop and Spo. Steph is in the media warning everyone that he’s been ignited by the naysayers.
Steph’s legacy can be impacted by how he carries them. He’s a brilliant shooter and a hall of famer. He really can help his resume by leading this squad to 50 wins. s
Steph is one of the game's best all-time shooters and lead guards. That said, with Klay's really unfortunate injury, I think GS's time has come and gone. Steph said some of the same things last year before his season-ending injury. The team doesn't have the pieces any more, and Draymond was exposed for what he really is -- a strong complimentary player who needs guys like Klay et al. on the perimeter in order to play to his game. Without them, he's average.

Nice to see all the coaches wearing a towel over their shoulder, in tribute to Coach John Thompson

Honestly it's not looking good for my grandma, but she's in her late 90's and her quality of life has been suboptimal for the last few years, so when her time comes, it may be a blessing. I'm more concerned about my aunt, who has otherwise been in good health, but spent the last two days visiting my grandma in the hospital, feeding her, handling her dentures, and f*cking singing songs with her, basically everything you would NOT want to do around someone who has Covid, she did.
In my lifetime, I've lost four relatives/family members in the last week of December. I have a feeling my grandma will be #5. This is why I don't look forward to the holidays anymore.
That is hard. I hope things work out better for your Grans and aunt.

You know I've followed his game. You know I've seen him play a ton and watch as much NBA as anyone on this board.
I would never say Jaylen Brown is as good as Kawhi, just like I would never say OG is as good as Brown currently.
Do Brown and OG both have characteristics and similarities of Kawhi's game? Sure, they both do, but Brown would have to take another big leap to get there and OG would have to take a massive leap. Tons of guys have potential and signs they could be great, realizing it is the hard part.
Once again, OG's is an excellent player and I'd love my team to have him. He plays his role really well. He's an excellent defender and efficient in his role offensively. I haven't said any different.
But, he is currently a role player. He's a 4th/5th offensive option on his team. Maybe with Ibaka and Gasol moving on and Lowry aging Toronto will change their style and he'll get more opportunities to create.
But at this point his efficiency is great and his 13 shots per game are great, but he's not a creator, he largely scores and gets those shots off of Toronto's play makers creating.
I dont even know what we're talking about anymore. I was discussing Boston vs Toronto and how Boston arguably, with Lowry aging, has the two best players between the two teams. You brought OG out of nowhere, who again while a really good young player with a bright future, isn't in that conversation.
I'm a big OG fan, just being realistic about where he currently is in the NBA.
Hmm, I didn’t bring OG out of nowhere but it’s all good. We apparently see OG’s upside and current level of play differently. That’s ok. I wouldn’t put Brown though anywhere remotely in the Kawhi comparison, they are just different players and I don’t see Brown having anywhere near that defensive potential, just a different style of player. He’s better offfensively than OG at this stage, never said otherwise, but also recognize based on his stats with what his usage is that OG is fully capable of being a 20 ppg player, and he is the better defender, I really don’t think that’s fairly arguable.
On Boston v Toronto,C’s have the clear advantage right now.

Yes. The program under Sampson was a mess academically and multiple players had substance abuse issues. It was not a good place for a number of academically oriented players. The academics were in very bad shape while at the same time a number of very good players were headed to IU or in the pipleline, the team was winning on the court but losing the culture of IU
