These lists are always frustrating. If the question is who has the best chance to win a title then sure, I buy the Clippers at 3, but if it is who is playing best right now (which is how I understand Power Rankings to be) then how can you put a team at 3 fresh off of a 50 point clobbering?

It's funny, for sure, but they don't put that much stock in one regular season game, and the Clips just came of a convincing W over Denver after beating LA. How in the world the Clips played that poorly is a good question, regardless. Interesting going forward to watch how they adapt to Lue's new system, and it's almost a triangle set up, a different look. I have thought it would take them to about a quarter of the way in to start playing consistent good ball, they started better than I thought they would, but it's only 3 regular season games, really can't put too much stock into anything at this point.

Wow, the Mars are beating the Clippers 62-18 with 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter!?!?

Yeah it’s crazy - haven’t watched it, guess the clips just decided not to show up, I mean they just beat LA and Denver - Kawhi is out but that can’t be it,crazy

that's why we play the games.  To see how we stack up.  I just think our offensive deficiencies are going to be our downfall on to many close winnable games.  Our defense will keep us close in a lot of games though, which are just going to cause more heartache since we're going to be within striking distance so many time.

    Just my crystal ball prediction

Yeah I understand and wasn’t implying you were being unreasonable, I agree it looks (at this point) that we’ll be riding our D. I hope to see some adjustments- playing time adjustments and offensive sets to spread outside scoring, but we do have guys who can score, it’s implementation and strategy imo more than personnel

I think those extra few weeks off were beneficial to the Clippers😀

We're just having fun, it's just the first game and I suspect the Clips will need about a quarter of the season to gel, Lue is running things differently and there are new pieces, but a nice start!

so with the theory he isn't cheating, we're saying someone who has gotten in trouble at least twice for cheating has turned Houston into a powerhouse without cheating because he learned his lesson?  i hope so.  that would be good for him.  i'll always be against him for what he did to us though.

In fairness we did it to ourselves. The U self-reported and unilaterally imposed all of those “sanctions,” the destruction of our program — and the phone gate BS that the NCAA went after was legal by the next year. His recruiting resulted in horrible academics and what was basically a drug culture within the program, that needed to go, but the ruination of our program was done by IU itself.

So we believe Butler is a locker room problem despite the fact that Dwayne Wade was on his side with the Chicago thing, and all the teams he left got worse without him but completely disregard any such rumors about PG despite every team he's left getting better without him and the very documented and very real "Paul George has no clue what he is talking about" saga that recently played out with the Clippers and Doc Rivers?

If we are really comparing Paul George to Jimmy Butler I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that would argue against PG being more talented. I also think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone aside front yourself that would pick PG over Butler if they needed to win a game.

Man there is no question, whatsoever, as documented in all kinds of stories, articles, etc., that Butler caused and was involved in all kinds of locker room issues in his earlier years. That was baggage following him. Your refusal to acknowledge that is frankly worse than my perceived love of all things PG. I have, can and do acknowledge that PG has said some extremely stupid things, acted like a fool, including several times over the past year, that his "between the ears" thing has him looking bad at times -- and BTW I guess it's cool to simply ignore that he was going through depression this year, you know, a medical condition, let's just laugh at depression right? -- but lots of guys have picked PG over Butler to win a game, give me a freaking break, PG has won all kinds of games and just two years ago averaged 28 PPG, 2nd in the League, while being in the final 3 for both MVP and defensive MVP. Golly, who would pick PG with that kind of game?

That said, if I myself were picking between the two right now, based on last season, I would pick Butler, hands down, because he has his stuff together, right now, he's playing fantastic ball. However, that's based on last season, now we'll see how PG does this year with time to gel and actually play with his teammates, unlike last year, and whether he is mentally and physically good. Remember the debates we had on your claim PG's defense was gone after his year-long injury, that he wasn't the same player, and the next year he was a finalist for defensive MVP? Let's see how this season pans out.

Now I'm done with the repeated barbs and PG discussion.

If we are under .500 in conference again which is quite possible and we are bubble/miss tourney it's warm.

If buts and maybes don't apply to this season. He is absolutely not, at all, on the hot seat, much as some may want to trumpet panic and worry.  The B1G is one of the best 2 conferences in the country this year, period. Whatever 'quite possible' stuff you want to throw out there, realistically, if he doesn't have IU in the tourney this year, by not being one of the top 5-8 teams or so (and yes it looks like the B1G will likely field 8 teams) then next season the pressure will start to build, but he aint going anywhere anytime soon, period.

His seat is at least a tad toasty...If IU wouldn't make the tourney this year, I'd guarantee it'd be quite warm for 21-22...So I don't think any sane coach would even slightly compromise this year simply to get a 5 star more playing time in the hope that it would benefit us in subsequent years...

A bird in the hand, my friend...

It's not toasty, etc. but in any event we're not talking about playing Lander so he can benefit us in subsequent years, we're talking about getting him going this year, to benefit us this year, just as again Izzo for example does with his players. I don't like Izzo, but he's sane and most coaches would be playing Lander. We've had a game where he played 7 minutes.

Again, CAM's approach has us looking good generally, but Lander's upside is tremendous and -- imo -- he will need to continue to play more for IU to achieve the level of success we all want this year. This isn't about next year at all. Lander is the real deal. No one coming into this season was talking about limiting his minutes.

So PG didn’t sleep with Roy Hibberts fiancé? Guess we will never know but it wasn’t a coincidence as soon as that came out Hibbert called teammates out for being selfish and his career pretty much plummeted after that. 🤷‍♂️

He called teammates out for being selfish because Lance was stealing rebounds, and Hibbert actually said just that. The sleep with a girlfriend BS is the same as it was when people tried to say Romeo did. God the way these BS rumors are spread is so silly
