    Big 10 NIL Funding

    Total funding

    IU $82,939,020

    PU $33,529,207

    Better pick up your game...

Lol the collective figure is simply an estimate and there’s no way to know how much we actually have. And IIRC, your numbers are inflated because of a donation to the athletic department from the university to help with COVID costs.  Wasn’t a “true” donation but rather a loan that the university has to pay back. $38 million gift from the school.

Kinda funny how salty they're getting over all this...

Tradition does matter, whether they like it or not...in today's world, not as much as NIL money (which they're lacking as well) but it does matter...

Far from salty just having a conversation. How do you know we’re lacking?  Any proof there?  You think Kel’el Ware comes to IU if you guys didn’t open up the checkbook?  I think tradition matters for high school recruits more than portal guys tbh.

Would they have cared, if you had beaten UConn?

I’m sure it would’ve been nice but in the grand scheme of things, it wouldn’t have changed much for Purdue. They’re not going to start recruiting completely different types of kids/players just because they made it to the championship game.  May help get their foot in the door with some higher-rated guys but Painter knows what type of player/person he wants on his team.

Isn't IU one of those "multiple programs"?

No team won a championship in all 3 of those decades...

    Rent free, baby...

I guess it’s rent free for the other program he’s talking about too?  Or maybe he’s just making a general comment and people freaked out for no reason.  Regardless, he hit the nail on the head about kids not caring about that stuff.

Turdue will always feel like a crappy second rate program to a lot of people on the outside with such little brotherish behavior.  The fact that it happened before playing for a NATIONAL ChAMPIONSHIP just proves how juvenile and insecure a huge portion of that fanbase is.

Toiletmakers, IU fans laugh at your ridiculousness as IU continues to live rent-free in your tiny pea-brained heads. 😂

...and for good measure...one of my all-time favorite GIFs...

I’ll be honest that I think it’s dumb and should go away unless we’re playing you guys. Don’t think it’s a huge portion of our fanbase but mostly the students. Hopefully they make a change at some point because it’s a bad look.

What's that got to do with anything? IU board, and I'm an IU fan...

Yet minutes after the game, you broke your neck getting here to tell us what a great year you'd had, regardless of the loss...

Yeah, we're in that noggin alright...

Cool?  I post on multiple boards of multiple fanbases.

I'd say take a hard pass on that. Purdue stood by the kid after mistakes...and now he bolts? Seems to me something else is off.

It’s literally nothing.  This was decided before the season even started.  Pretty obvious what kind of culture Painter has built where former players come back on the regular. Gillis and Morton will be part of that group moving forward and left on good terms.  Gillis got 5 years at Purdue but something is off because he’s not going to get 6?

So this is what we're supposed to believe?

That initially, Purdue didn't believe in or participate in NIL...

    Until Edey needed a payday...

And now Gillis is moving on, not because of NIL because he makes plenty at Purdue, but because prior to the season Painter told him he'd lose minutes? So he went out, won B10 6th man of the year, averaged 21 mpg on the best Purdue team in 44 years, and he's leaving because he wants 9 mpg more? Do I have this right?

    😂😂😂

NIL at Purdue changed when they lost Pack to Miami.  They got the alliance up to speed quickly after that happened. NIL was well funded before Edey won NPOY.

And yes Gillis wants a bigger role. Good for him and I wish him the best.

So what would happen if they said the were coming back for their 5th year. Maybe  Painter doesn't believe in having players stay for 5 years.

He wouldn’t have signed 6 players if that were the case. And Gillis did stay 5 years since he redshirted his freshman year. He was a ‘19 recruit.

Dudesl like Terrance Shannon and Tyson Walker get big playing time and nice NIL money at a P6 school...not undersized 4s that average 7ppg...

If you think he's gonna go somewhere and be a centerpiece, you're delusional...

Morton played 25 mpg as a sophomore and isn’t as good/sought after as Gillis. I never said he’d be a centerpiece. You can play 30 mpg and not be a centerpiece. Loyer played 28 mpg and wasn’t a centerpiece. Gillis can absolutely get those minutes. Hunter got 34 mpg at Butler and he wasn’t close to their best player.

over signed by 3, someone was getting Painted over.

Not painted over when you had 2 guys graduate. That was always part of the plan hence why Painter signed 6. Those discussions happened with Morton and Gillis before the season. The same situation happened with Eric Hunter. He let CMP know he wasn’t coming back and when he changed his mind later on, Painter had already moved on so he ended up at Butler.

I think NIL will hurt Purdue basketball badly. Especially when the other Big Ten university in the state is handing out 500K to 1 million dollar checks.

Does Sisley want to play at Purdue for free or get 500K from Indiana? 🤔

It hasn’t yet aside from losing Nijel Pack. It clearly didn’t hurt with the incoming recruiting class and won’t with Sisley.

Baloney...he was 6th man of the year in the Big 10...he wants to start and get 30+ minutes a game he's not getting that at any school in a P6 conference, and the alternatives don't provide "nice NIL paydays."

lol if you don’t think he can get 30+ minutes a game at a P6 school.  He’s not leaving for lack of NIL support.  Why do you think he’s leaving?

  14. 6 minutes ago, IUFLA said:

Or maybe this whole "Purdue guys play for the name on the front" isn't flying so well as the NIL era really kicked in and they're tired of being suckers...

Kids like Catchings, Heide, and Colvin will eventually catch on too...

Gillis was doing very well for himself NIL-wise and every Purdue fan has known since the year started that Morton and Gillis weren’t coming back to use their Covid year. Gillis wants to play more and will get that chance someplace else. That’s all it is lol. Purdue has yet to lose a current player because of NIL concerns.

Cool. So he loved his time so much at Purdue that he loved the idea of others getting the same experience so he decided what? Exiting stage left was the better part of valor?

I’m sure he had plenty of conversations with Painter about what his role would look like next year. He’s been at Purdue 5 years and likely wants to go somewhere he can get 30+ minutes a game next year and a nice NIL payday. He won’t get that at Purdue.

I expect there to be one or two more that will surprise and disappoint PU fans

Guess it depends on what you think would surprise/disappoint us? I’d say I’m extremely confident Smith, Loyer, TKR, Colvin, and Heide are staying and those are the only guys I’d be disappointed in losing tbh.
