You have to wonder what Caleb Furst was thinking last night. Three years in and he was a non-factor. He played one minute in the title game. I don't think he played at all against NC state. Just a spectator for the tournament. He could have contributed at IU. I think the kid can play.
He’ll get his chance next year but he has seemingly regressed since his freshman year.

Pumped? No. Bittersweet appreciation maybe. 2002 stung for awhile.
Perspective I think. After so much heartbreak for us it was awesome to finally slay the non-F4 dragon/demon. You guys haven’t had that same dragon historically.

Thanks for the apology. At least you didn't elbow anyone in the face like a certain someone.

Apologies to those I snapped at. Was bummed about how the season ended. I let it get to me and I’m sorry.

Why are you on this board after your team just played in a championship game. You need to get a life
lol right on cue from you big guy.

Purdue fans chanting “IU Sucks” at their own national championship game watch personifies this program. Even Doyal, who’s basically a Purdue booster at this point, couldn’t help but make today’s column about IU. Back to mediocrity with Purdue until Painter can pull another random rabbit out of his hat, if ever.
Back to mediocrity? Get real. His recruiting is at a high-level and I’m sure it won’t hurt when recruits see the run we just went on.

Runners up? Fantastic. Way to go.
Most people would be pretty pumped about that no?

For two straight seasons purdue had the best player on the court in every game and couldn't get it done.
We literally were runners-up GTFO lol.

Gotta tip your cap to UConn. They’re damn talented and were the better team. Hell of a season for my Boilers and it’s nice to get the tournament monkey off our back. Would’ve been nice to win but a hell of a run.

I think Smith and Loyer fold under the pressure. Bama’s guards are better, but they couldn’t pull it off. Shot really well in first half and were still down 4. At half, Hurley said they just needed to get Bama to crack. They know they can impose their will. Love that attitude
Bama hit 19 3’s against us and still lost. They can be fun to watch but rely a ton on the 3-ball. Purdue very well may have to win a shootout tomorrow night.

Purdue caught a couple breaks against State between OConnell & Ramadan
Plus they couldn’t throw it in the ocean
PS how does the running ref get title game ? Just never thought of him as a great ref
True but we maybe played a B- type game and still won by 13 with Smith having one of the worst games of his career and us turning it over a bunch. Edey only taking 2 free throws and still going for 20/12 shows how dominant he was.

Officially, I’m a Mets fan. But after living here for 19 years, I won’t root against the Reds.
Have to ask how you became a Blues fan haha.

Drive 4 hours east. Opening day in Cincinnati isn’t a spectacle, it’s an all day event and is basically a holiday.
You’re not a Cards fan?

You can't tell that to Cardinal fans... They think a Clydesdale shitting on a baseball field is big time stuff...
Clydesales and all the former players coming back is beyond special. Can’t think of another team that does it better.

I know I’m biased but STL has the best opening day tradition in baseball IMO. Always such a spectacle.

I put Boiler's definition to the test.
7:24: Edey enters the lane with both feet, but almost immediately puts one foot back out.
7:23: Edey lifts the foot in the lane ever so slightly. I'm not sure a ref could have caught it, but we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. 3 second clock reset.
7:22: Edey re-enters the lane with both feet.
7:20: Ball is passed to Edey. 3 second clock resets.
7:18: Edey passes the ball back out.
7:17: Edey puts one foot outside the lane and lifts foot in lane. 3 second clock reset.
7:16: Edey exits the lane (ever so slightly...had a part of one foot parallel and on the line, but again, I'll give benefit of the doubt). Also, shot attempt. 3 Second clock reset.
7:15 Edey re-enters the lane, both feet.
7:12 Edey puts one foot halfway outside the lane and lifts the foot in the lane. We're really skirting the line here. Potential 3 second violation.
7:10: Video ends.
It's really borderline if you break it down second by second. It seems like he's very aware of what the rule is and is making an attempt to push it to its limit, but is also getting several benefit of the doubt calls like at 7:12.
Basically nothing egregious which is what a lot of folks seem to think. If it were the NBA? Yeah they’d have a legit gripe.

I’ll admit he got away with a walk there but it wasn’t 3 seconds.

Lol he absolutely left the lane during that 14 seconds, the count resets on a shot attempt, it resets when he has the ball, etc… should I continue?

Well of course it is.. but why do you qualify it as "the college 3-second" rule. Is the college rule different than what we all understand, in players ages form 5 - 50? Are there different rules, and that is why you specify "college 3 second rule"?
He's obviously worked hard on his craft, I have to appreciate that. But he does get away with A LOT !!!!!
Yes it’s different. Lifting his foot that’s in the lane resets the 3-second count (if the other foot is outside the lane) which isn’t a thing in basically every other league.

A purwho fan defending lurch... Shocked, totally shocked I am .
From what I’ve seen, a good number of folks don’t understand the college 3-second rule because what Edey does is perfectly legal.

Do you think it changes the game if he had 3 fouls called on him in a first half versus being 8 minutes into a second half with zero fouls?
Obviously it’d change the game. But if 3 fouls were called on him in a half, how many would be called on the defense. If you told me 3 were called on him but 10-15 were called on the defense, I’d say yeah that’s probably pretty accurate on what could be called if they didn’t let anything go.
I remember a play from the TN game where he was backing a guy down in the post and the guy literally had two hands on him/grabbing him the whole time. And the announcers were like, they have to call this foul right?! It took the refs like 7 seconds before they finally blew the whistle.

Hit the nail on the head. UConn is on a heck of a run and Purdue just lost to a better team. No shame in that.
