Is it just me, but does anyone else think TJD will eventually be more valuable and successful than Edey in the NBA?
….not that it matters or s a p*ssin’ contest or anything? Lol

I don’t think it’s that crazy. The league isn’t like it was 20 years ago where guys Edey’s size had a bigger role.

I was a ref at one time. no such rule as over the back as people like to call it. its a push you are calling. but yes I would foul Edey out in the first half of every game. Purdue is in trouble come tournament time by the way Big Ten refs call their games. Good refs will have Edey with 2 or 3 fouls in the first 15 mins.

Again, they didn’t lose before the conference started so this whole “once they get away from Big Ten refs” idea doesn’t hold any weight. Edey has yet to be in serious foul trouble in any of the NCAA tournament games he’s played in so why would that magically change this year?

Or that they actually call fouls that Edey commits

You realize it’s not some big conspiracy right? The folks that claim he’s getting preferential treatment in conference play  either don’t realize or forget that they didn’t lose in non-conference against one of the hardest schedules in the country. We can win ugly if we have to.

And I surmise Purdue will run into a team in the tournament that will copy MSU’s blueprint.

Oh no doubt. The recipe to beat Purdue is hope you shoot lights out from 3 and hope the refs let you get away with hacking Edey. Or hope that we have an off night shooting the ball but that was a bigger issue last year than this year.

    Sparty played it perfectly

    Play physical

    run through screens

    Jump into defenders

    Make it chippy

When fouls get out of hand….like 8-2 scream & cry about refs and watch them “even” it out

if MP played the bench the entire game tomorrow I’d be ok

Them mucking it up like that is the only way they can hang with us. Honestly it’s not a bad strategy.

Where he will be about as useful as Trey Kaufman has been. I've seen the kid play. He can shoot. He's intelligent. But he's not that athletic. Maybe against Seymour HS he is.

Lol TKR has played his role well. Will have a much bigger opportunity next year after the 2x NPOY is gone.  That’s not the knock you think it is on TKR.

We'll see. I know Jake Heidbreder. I know his family. I won't be shocked to see him avg 17+ a game for Clemson next season. Loyer is already a solid SG. I get Collin Hartman vibes from Benter but maybe he will hit a higher ceiling.

Comparing Benter to Hartman is one of the odder comparisons I’ve seen lol.

Hey gang and the rest. Try this one on for size. Liam was already gone....Kansas said 45 days ago you can decommit to save you and your family the face once IU moves on from Woodson this year. It's an easy out. Fans would understand. Coach is fired we'd love to have you. It's easy to comprehend.

Once Woodson was announced to come back Kansas made the move to save face (own interests)  and make the kid "still look good" by saying hey we want your commit now or we're looking elsewhere.....so the kid and his family announced as quickly as they could.

Kansas and Self played a great game of chess.....but this was in play looooooooooooooooooooooooong before yesterday's announcement of Woodson returning. I hope people understand.

    PS....I hope I haven't insulted anyone.

That's the pot calling the kettle black... Many believe we lost Garcia because of those 2 clowns and their incessant tweets of naming their kids after him if he committed, and crazy-ass questions when they talked to him. They were complete jerks jumping into the middle of the recruitment.

Those two dudes put new meaning to the word cringe.

The offensive rebounding was kind of my point. He takes 4 shots per game, I'd imagine 1-2 of those are offensive rebounds and maybe another 1 is maybe a PnR and then maybe 1-2 on post ups (probably when Edey is sitting)?

The main point was that I don't think anybody would categorize Purdue's offense as a 3-out/double post offense.

    That's not their system.

Ahh that’s totally valid yeah. We’re much more of a pick and roll team compared to last year where it was throw into Edey and hope for the best haha.

Yes and no. I'd imagine given how good Edey is that they actually rarely post-up TKR. He's mainly setting screens on and off the ball.

Also, TKR starts but plays less minutes than Mason Gillis who is shooting nearly 50% from 3 at just over 3 attempts per game.

But back to the real point, nobody hate an inside-out offense. Paint touches are critical in any basketball system.

We hate two bigs clogging the lane offense with almost everything going through the post.

TKR actually posts up a decent amount. Depends on match-ups of course and whether Edey is in too. He’ll be a focal point on offense next year. He also is a great offensive rebounder too.

The pool will be smaller for sure, a lot depends on if the court ruling allowing multiple transfers holds up or not. I think the upcoming off season will be absolute chaos. Not worried about Catchings, Underwood will find talent.

You need a bunch of teams to do the same and I'm still not sure it's some magic secret to beat NET. You still have to beat those teams by 40.

And maybe start off by beating Army by more than 8 points, eh? 🤣

My question is do you think that method is sustainable with that much roster turnover each year? I think it can be tough because you don’t know if guys are in it to be program guys or just in it for a paycheck.

Our old friend Stuben has reappeared over on BTB and is having trouble making friends over there.  He is doing the same over there that he did here to get banned. He is trying to tell everyone how to think and how stupid they are if they don't agree with him. He is pretty much the only one over there defending Woodson.

Did he legit get banned here?

I don't think Purdue will suck, Painter is too good of a coach. I do wonder at their ceiling if they continue to be somewhat adverse to using the portal. And I will be glad to see Edey move on, just don't enjoy the style of basketball he enforces on the game.

Yeah, the metrics love them a lot. But look at the resumes of the bubble teams, and they still look a lot better. Worst losses are to Iowa and Ohio St.

My own opinion but I don’t think the portal will be as impactful once the COVID year is gone which IIRC, is after next season.  It’ll obviously still be there but I don’t think it’ll be to the same magnitude it’s been the last several years. Painter’s philosophy to continue building through the HS ranks and supplementing through the portal is a good philosophy IMO. Will Illini fans be kicking themselves that they didn’t go after Kanon Catchings because they were more focused on portal guys? Wouldn’t surprise me.

    1.  Purdue Athletics is a joke🏆🏆 🏆

    2.  If getting 4 year guys who value academics & athletics means no NC I’ll survive.

Purdue is my school not a T-shirt I bought at Walmart

Not saying I’m a better fan…but I care about the school & academics

Never been embarrassed to tell anyone worldwide I’m a Purdue Alum

    PS I was in MSA

    Was UCLA there?

That’s the thing: would it be cool if Purdue had a bunch of titles in golf or tennis or some other sport? Sure. Does it change my Purdue fandom? Not even a little.

Couldn’t agree return never being embarrassed to be a Purdue alum. Anytime I travel and rep Purdue, it’s either a “Boiler Up” or “Did you go to Purdue? Nice!” and then some variation of them talking about the great reputation Purdue has. I can’t recall one time where someone legit gave me a hard time for Purdue athletics tbh. It’s almost always with people understanding it’s a great school/brand. And unlike a school like Illinois with the TSJ stuff, I’m never ashamed to rep my alma mater because our coach does things the right way.

    Always...

They act like they're on some UCLA type run...

Like I said, we're 3-3 against them in the Woody era...and they've lost to double digit seeds the last 2 years...

If that's the zenith of Purdue basketball... 🤣

It's going to be enjoyable next year watching them play without Edey...

I wonder if Painter has put in for Berg's lane parking pass yet?

Love the hyperbole lol. Show me where we’re acting like we’re on a UCLA type run.

Who’s saying that’s the zenith? We’ll continue to be a really good program after Edey is gone just like we were before he got here.

I love the “just wait until Edey is gone” takes as if people think we’ll suck. We heard the same thing about Swanigan, Carsen, Ivey, etc… Painter has things rolling and it’s not going to stop just because Edey leaves. With him gone and the incoming class coming in, we’ll still be a top 25 team easily.
