As we've seen in the past (very recent past) being "linked" with a kid and actually getting him are two very different things. I still think some of the Twitter folks post things just for clicks anyway. Doesn't hurt them as they are not predicting anything at this point. Even when they do predict, those things change as reality sets in.

Changing because of an UA contract is daydreaming. Basketball history? Yeah, distant history. Our history over the last three decades stinks. Recruiting? He seems to be doing better than we are. I think players would play for him wherever he is. He doesn't have to move to get his players. I still don't see a reason for him to leave Auburn for our mess.

I have a hard time understanding why some think Pearl would leave the successful program he has built at Auburn for the mess we now have here. I don't see that happening.

I agree. That whole thing is something anyone could simply conjure up, insider or not, and "meeting" actually taking place or not. Anyone want to say they could not have come up with the same just making it up in their own imagination?

There are always two sides to every coin. I have always thought the "fundraiser" had a bit of a pre-determined outcome. They miraculously hit their goal last-minute? A bit fishy at best. Let's also remember the Simons have benefited as well. Public funds on two different arenas? And the new practice facility? Tax incentives for their companies? The $1 per year life-time lease on the Circle Center Mall property? Wonder how the investors in the still fairly new (at that time) Union Station project felt about that? That project went under and took people with it. Yeah, it has been a definite two-way street.

I think that has been some of the problem. Aiming for ONLY the cream of the crop and striking out on all of them. Seems to be the same, be it in the portal or recruiting high school players.

As great as hitting that shot was, I was impressed with his reaction. No "woofing" or prancing down the floor. No "look at me" posing. He immediately got in defensive position and was ready.

Honest, and perhaps mis-informed question here. How many fans are there among those who don't participate on boards like this, that would not know who he is? That is not meant as a slight to the man, but it isn't as though FAU is on ESPN every week, so I can imagine his name recognition being lower than some other coaches.

That is exactly why I created an account and am on this site now. I had been on BTB for a while and found out if you even question some of the "insiders" over there you are in for ridicule. Never have seen anywhere similar to that. Looks like this place may be a bit more friendly.
