  1. In case anyone cares, I broke down some numbers because someone on a different site said we're a terrible 2nd half team, and it's actually the other way around:

    2nd half scores

    Florida GC 37 IU 41
    ARMY 33 IU 40
    Wright St. 31 IU 35
    UCONN 40 IU 27
    Louisville. 37 IU 40
    Harvard 36 IU 50
    MD 25 IU 25
    MIch. 36 IU 41
    Auburn 52 IU 42
    KU 43 IU 31
    Morehead 32 IU 44
    N.Alabama 32 IU 40
    Kennesaw 41 IU 50
    Nebraska 45 IU 37
    OSU 27 IU 34
    Rutgers 36 IU 30
    Minn. 31 IU 33
    PU 36 IU 37
    Wisky 52 IU 53
    ILL 32 IU 28
    Iowa 40 IU 35

    2nd half Them 774       IU 793
    1st half Them  775        IU 752
    Total     Them 1549       IU 1545

I could be off, but I double checked this a couple of times (only the second half scores) then just subtracted those points from the total scored/given up.

If it's just an elbow, maybe it's not as bad of an injury as it looked. I thought he may have broken his wrist or dislocated his shoulder/wrist.

I know Leal hot some shots, played solid defense....just a solid game.

But what really stands out is that he knows exactly where he and his teaches need to be at all times at both ends of the court.

Almost never out of position. Almost never in the wrong place. And typically gets his teammates in position along the way.

    Smart player.

What I like about him most, honestly, is he rebounds. Guards rebounding really, really make a big difference getting into the offense quicker. This team is so much better when they play faster but under control.

Get use to it because this is what college basketball is today. Between true one and dones and now the portal you will have a lot of roster turnover ever year

I don't disagree and I also didn't say I am 100% against getting one and "dones", I just wouldn't focus on those guys until we have some stability in making the tourney year in year out, meaning I think we need a more consistent roster especially with guards. That being said, I think IU fans have to come to grips with the fact that we might have some down years or stretches during a season that might not be up to snuff. I definitely don't think Woody has done a good job this year (especially by not getting a guard in the portal), and though this is frustrating (we do deserve a winner), calling for his head in the middle of the season or ripping players on social media isn't doing the program any favors. At least wait until the off season to light the torches. Part of this weird cycle IU has been in is because of the lack of consistent guard play for many years. Part of that has to do with guards being recruited out of position or not being very good (recruiting them purely because they are from Indiana or have a lot of stars) or transferring. This program will only turn this around when the guard play improves across the board. Cupps is a very good start.

i don't disagree with you.  i'm not super concerned with getting Indiana kids, but see where you're coming from.  more important than Indiana kids though are the type of kids and right fit.  i mentioned this before though...who on here is confident that Woodson would mold a top team out of lesser talent than what we currently have?  people like to say stars don't matter, etc.  okay, but would Woodson take a bunch of 3 star and some 4 star kids like Painter and make them tough, play great defense, rebound exceptionally, play smart, unselfish, etc.?  as much as i hate Purdue, doesn't Painter do that every year?

IU seems to have a lot of roster turnover. That's why I am not a big proponent of going after guys who want to be one and done.

Right. We have three five stars in the starting lineup, and then two guards that are 4th and 6th year players and both in their third under Woodson.

You can’t really make the case he doesn’t have enough talent on this team AND is a good player development guy.

I am not sure how much more evidence people need when it comes to "five stars". That's not really indicative of instant success. This team is not well constructed and that's the main thing I blame on Woody and the others. They brought in Sparks and Walker when they needed to bring in at least one other guard/shooters. X was coming off a serious injury so we really had no idea what we'd get from him day in day out. He's been way worse than expected but they should have at least protected against that and the obvious lack of a pure shooter. I think they can still turn it around to certain extent, but Woody needs to play the guys who have shown something and not keep playing guys just to play them. This next week or so is make or break.

On Assembly Call last night they said Leal wasn't dressed due to some sort of injury

I don't think people understand, Leal has been hurt A LOT. He was basically hurt all last season. He was listed as "out" last night.

I think it sucks arse they are airing this iconic game on peacock. Trying to make people pay for another channel. Well they can suck my c—-. Pure BS!

There are many ways to watch games without paying. Also, if you know anyone who does have Peacock, I think you have can have up to three people logged in at once.

The one thing i really liked in this game was it seemed we really concentrated on early offense in the first half. When Minny made their run late in the second half, it appeared to me we slowed ourselves down, but early we attacked and took good, fairly quick looks. Hope that continues. I see what most say about Johnson slowing things and pounding the ball too much.

This! They play sooooo much better when they get into the offense early. Push the ball!!

Tonight we saw players pass up decent 2s for good 3s for the first time this year. The Galloway play midway through the 2nd half was a great example of this.

And I am here for that all day long. Gotta get comfortable taking them to make a little bit easier to make them when you really need 'em.

I totally get the point, but the.. uniqueness and the excitement it can add makes me love it, tbh.  I get why others don't.  It also infuriates me when IU misses the front end, which I will die on my hill saying they must do more than any other team in CBB

They also seem to be on the brunt end of career nights for bench guys and desperation threes. I swear every game some guy who averages 6.7 points hits 6 threes and scores 25 points, canning sh*t from the parking lot or banking it in with a second left on the clock. But yes. Please make FTs.

I'd really like to see college basketball get rid of the one-and-one. It's too onerous on the offense, and too often ends up benefiting the defense that committed the infraction. I saw two instances tonight where a missed front end led to a quick run out and basket for the other team. Traditionalists will say make your free throws, but to that I say defend without fouling. The bonus should be two shots every time.

I agree fundamentally, but it does lead to excitement at the end of games and for the most part the team hacking/behind doesn't win.

Sorry, but this is a silly overreaction.

You think Duke fans were calling for the suspension and dismissal of any of their players who were literally notorious for some cheap shots? Allen got suspended ONE GAME by Coach K for kicking and tripping players  Do you think their fans or team "bloggers" were starting polls online? Remember when Cody took Draymond's hand and banged himself in the nuts to get a phantom foul? Jadlow throwing a ball off a guy's face? You don't think Fife and M. Lewis played "dirty" at times? I don't condone X's actions, but the outrage people have for certain players is misguided if you ask me. I'm just tired of people bashing our own players online every chance they get. Bitch about Woody, fine. But posting a poll or saying a player should be suspended or kicked off the team for some rough play (yes maybe even dirty) on social media is ridiculous. IU fans tend to be too righteous and it doesn't do the program any good.

Addition: He got booted from the game. IU lost. I'm not sure why IU fans would want him to miss more games.  Potentially throw away any chance IU has left this season. Some IU fans have failed to realize there has been a sea change in college sports. In the player empowerment era, it is not a good idea to take the extreme hard line every time a player messes up. Why handcuff yourself even more? All the hardliners have zero clue what was overlooked back in the day because information/news wasn't as easily accessible/available, the coaches were buddies with the beat writers or had a relationship with the local law enforcement. Now every time some kid messes up the whole world hears about and if there is a play ie X's bird check or whatever the video is played online over and over and over and over purely to incite more clicks, more outrage, and more opinions.

    1. X sneaks freshman out of the hotel and are suspended for the Northwestern game. Critical game. we lose.

    2. Drives down Walnut Street at 100 mph and then switches seats to throw someone else under the bus.

    3. Nuts an Ohio State player last year.

    4. Nearly gets in a fight on the floor of a game.

    5. Nuts his second victim @ Rutgers.

    6. Had baggage at Pitt and we still take him.

    He has LOW IQ.

Woodson needs to remove the captain title from x.

    X needs suspended!

If Woody does nothing and starts X the next game.

    Woody needs to be fired!

The team will only get worse not only this year but next year also.

The BRAND is being destroyed by a non-Hoosier.

I will be done with IU and find another team to follow if X starts the next game.

I too, thought it was a lousy and incorrect call, but....the female color commentator mentioned that the protected arc doesn't apply to women's game.

I found that extremely odd. Not even sure if it's true. Maybe the gal was trying to cover for the officials. I don't know. But if it is true, then it would have been a charge on Sara.
