  1. So if I am reading all of this correct, either Chris on BTB or Trilly are the main source for every one of these rumors? So one is getting their information from the other or they are getting their info from the same person? I say this because they've both been basically saying the same things at the same time. And if all this Buckner stuff is true, then Dolson and the President need to get together and say, sorry Quinn, we hired Scott to make these decisions. I might be a simpleton here, but that doesn't seem like that would be "out of line".
  2. Could be, maybe not if what is being said is true at all. I'm sure at some point if X wasn't going to be healthy enough to play he could have tried to get a medical waiver. But regardless, I think you get the overall point. Woody being on the hot seat isn't just about this season's drop.
  3. I agree and I am not a huge fan of "fire the coach" threads and hashtags, but he wasn't a great hire because of this. NBA guys don't grind like college guys do. He's making $4 million and enjoying life more than an average college coach. It seems he is definitely blowing off recruiting. But the administration kind of has an issue. His results have been "okay" until this year. But he was mainly rolling with TJD in the first two years. If he gets to 17 to 18 wins, it's going to be a tougher call than what we think. If they have a guy lined up (like Pearl) then that is one thing. That would be a power move. If they do a search and come out with mediocre candidate like the guys in the running last time then we are just rolling like the Bears/IU Football. Fire the coach every few years but never get better.
  4. I had read the same info as mentioned and summarized like this: Skipping recruiting days over the last 3 years. Recruits hearing from other HC more than Woodson. Needs major help from the portal to overhaul a roster. Choosing to pursue "ready-made" players instead of recruiting and developing HS kids Woodson publicly stating 2 point shots are good while having one of the worst 3 point rates 3 years in a row. HS, AAU, and other coaches/trainers have heard very little from a certain HC over the course of 3 years. It's March of year 3. It took until Feb. for Woodson to go see Sisley and Mullins, two of the top in-state prospects and he didn't see Mullins in a game until the sectional semifinals. Told Boogie Fland "Boogie, again, I cannot promise you minutes because I am anticipating that Xavier Johnson may be getting a seventh year..." I am literally just reposting what was posted on BTB and based on what Rabby has been posting.
  5. I agree. And I am not sticking up for Woody. He was a reach hire to begin with (zero college experience) and most thought a stopgap. PU has had some "down" years in 2012 to 2015 and had a crap year in 2020. I am not saying Woody shouldn't be let go either, but at some point good coaches have down years, and IU has been mediocre for a long time, so it' not super surprising we're having a down year now. Woody did screw up this roster and if what you read about recruiting is true, he doesn't seem like any sort of grinder and you definitely need that nowadays. Hopefully things work out for the best regardless.
  6. Maybe, but the "bullshit" seemed pretty bad.
  7. Who was? Exactly. I don't think anyone was "excited" by the hire but more ok with it because there seemed to be some semblance of a plan and structure. I also never thought he'd be here more than 6 years tops tbh. It will be interesting to see what happens.
  8. That's not entirely true. My brother's daughter didn't get in from out of state and she was accepted to PSU and a dozen other schools just as good as IU. Seems like you are not a big fan of the school?
  9. I drink. Not once have I berated college students at a dorm or been accused of beating up anyone let a lone a woman. She could be nuts, seems like she might have been, so maybe it's not a good idea/decision to hangout with her if you are a high profile college coach making millions of dollars.
  10. And Wilson never got arrested for drinking, doesn't mean there weren't a lot of warning signs about potential issues. I just think hiring him would be a different type of risk. Imagine recruiting kids mom's and having to explain what happened. If I was a parent, I would want to know what happened with full details.
  11. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-basketball/news/chris-beard-arrest-charge-texas-basketball-coach/ol2lywzuphmjr7ixzfamteim "Beard told police that he has audio recordings showing he was not the primary aggressor. He was asked if he would be willing to share those audio recordings to which he said 'no.'" I assume those recordings would not be great for him either. This was a pretty ugly situation and even if she was the aggressor, seems like he might have some decision making issues. As I recall, she was rather notorious which leads me to believe he probably dug his own grave by merely being in this relationship. If you're a high profile anything, you have to be a little bit more selective in the relationships and friends you keep otherwise stuff like this is likely to happen.
  12. Sorry, I had to laugh. It was pretty apparent that CBK was going to struggle with the new generation of kids.
  13. Seems like the last few years, when it gets bad at IU, it gets real bad. They can't beat anybody. 2017, 2019, 2021 and this year. Always have key injuries: '24 - X, '21 - Franklin, '19 - Romeo, '17 - OG and Morgan. Not an excuse. Need depth and a system. The difference this year, it is 2/26 and we have been out it for at least two months. Even when Archie was here, we we're at at least on the bubble for most of the year. This year, not so much.
  14. ?? UK had 7 players in the NBA All Star game this year. They last won a championship in 2012. IU hasn't been a consistently good program since the 90s. But Calipari is the poster boy for mediocrity and doing less with more than anyone in the country.
  15. I agree. Bringing in Matta and even Fife (not Woody's guys) indicated it was Woody's job BUT with conditions. Regardless, Dolson has to think about that when setting up the buyout amounts and the extension. He's the AD.
  16. Thank you. I am probably in the minority here, but I think this is a good thing. Although Queen seems like a very good player, him coming here would be more of the style we've been playing and I think everyone would agree, it's not the best offense. Now if Malik transfers, we're in trouble. I would take Queen 9/10 ten, but we need guards not more bigs.
  17. This season has stunk no doubt about it. But they were/are not going to fire Woody after one down season after two seasons of decent improvement. This will be a a key off season, but I swear people really need to focus on other things on day-to-day basis. Coming to a forum every day to over dissect every issue, calling for Woody's head etc has to be exhausting. Like my mom used to say, go outside and play. Go to a friends house. Take a break from the day to day complaining about IUBB. Some people are still bitching about Crean and the Zone. Some of these fans were not even alive when IU was a top program (haven't been since the 90s). I don't think anyone is accepting this season or mediocrity, but college sports is a total different landscape than it use to be. Some teams simply are not going to be very good because of roster turnover or portal issues. Each season is going to be different than the next more so than it used to be. Does that give Woody and excuse? Do I think Woody is the greatest coach? No. But I also don't think he's what a lot of people are saying. I think you just have to ride this season out, hope they win a few here at the end then flush this season down the toilet. That being said, he can't afford another season like this one any time soon.
  18. Our offense would be decent if people could make some open threes and there are a lot of them to be had. You think other BIG programs are running sophisticated offenses? PU's? They throw it to Edey, he makes his stuff or gets a foul called or he throws it out to open guys. Not rocket science. Last year they couldn't make the open three, this year they can. Our offense is not very good because we don't have guards (the healthy ones that is) that can 1. Create their own shot. 2. Shoot. And because both X and Newton are hurt we're playing a FR PG that wasn't projected to be starting or playing big minutes and a two guard who is a three. Not saying Woody doesn't take blame (leaving an open scholarship, overloading at four) but this roster was thin at guard and got thinner when both X and Newton went down basically for the year. Now I am of the opinion that Cupps shouldn't be playing as much as he is regardless of the situation. He'll be a good four year guy but his in over his head both offensively and defensively, but he's fighting and will get better as a result of this.
  19. I actually do because I think he knows he screwed up this season trusting what was already on the roster.
  20. There are "three" issues I have with Woody this season: 1. This^^ Starting the same guys no matter how well they are playing or the matchups (and automatically starting Cupps just because he's the only natural PG behind X, and I do think Cupps will be good). 2. Leaving an open scholarship and overloading the roster with forwards (Sparks and Walker, only needed one) via the portal instead of loading up on shooters/guards. 3. Not pushing the team to play faster and/or playing with smaller lineups. Lots of things have gone wrong (lack of shooting being the most obvious), but I think these are my biggest complaints if I was making a list to send to Woody.
  21. You can't say year 4 looks worse until you see the roster, imo it will probably be better. And "luckily made the tournament"? You are either in or not. So is it "unluckily" not making the tournament when you feel like you should have made it? This season stinks, no doubt about it but let's not starting poking holes in the other seasons just to make this season seem worse than it already is. This season has gone about as bad is it could under the circumstances.
  22. I also had to laugh about the NYK betting ad. That's Twitter these days. Filled with bots and ads in the replies.
