  1. They play better when they pick up the pace and get into their offense faster. If you're not a very good shooting team you have to beat/challenge teams with pace which will also get you more open looks. Their bigs can run, they need to start running. This team isn't as bad as their record. Gunn is starting to turn a corner a bit. I would like to see him play more. Woody needs to change things up. If he really wants to be the coach for a couple (or whatever) more years, he needs to make more adjustments earlier in the game. When they cut the lead to one point he should have started pressuring NW and gone with a smaller lineup. When you don't have shooters to bail you out you can't take the entire shot clock to run your offense; puts a lot of pressure on the bigs to make every basket.
  2. What are terrible take. I couldn't agree more. Get lost if that's the way you feel. Everyone is disappointed with this season. Woody will either turn it around or be gone. Not much more complicated than that.
  3. This rumor seems to have been debunked by the same person who started it FWIW.
  4. I believe we have a couple of capable QBs. So I don't think it will be the end of the world if QB1 goes down imo.
  5. Not sure it really matters that much. Most coaches are gonna wait and see what other jobs open up and use those as leverage.
  6. I agree with Derek. Some people's mindset is they are done with Woody after 2.5 years. Seen enough, you can't fire him fast enough. Same people think they are good fans because they don't accept mediocrity. But to have a great program, you have to have a great coach and great players. But what really good coaches or players (without real strong ties to IU) read that stuff/hear this noise and want to come to IU (when they can go anywhere)? You can count on two hands the programs that make the tournament every year. IU isn't one of them and hasn't been for 20 years. That is the reality. No amount of social media trolling or forum complaining is going to change that. The best way for IU to get better players and coaches in the future is for Woody to do as well as possible while he is in the position. If the fans run him out the door after one bad season, that is not helping the program. If this year ends bad and next year is also bad then this issue will take care of itself. The fans don't need to push the issue. Our job is to support the team so players and coaches will want to come to IU. Furthermore, this team goes into the year as a bubble team at best. Four new starters. We are locked in with two games with Purdue. We had no chance against Purdue this year. They are up and we are down. Plus, we kicked their a** last year (so they are not looking past us). We have injuries, they don't. We have the last two years NC teams plus Auburn. Last year we had Kansas & Xavier on the road. Plus UNC and Arizona. Very few top programs schedule like that. We schedule like a top 10 program. Only go after top recruits like a top 10 program. But have been a bottom half of the conference team (except last year). We probably need to adjust our ego a bit. Also: IU Fans (in the off season) We have to play multiple marquee games in non-con because we are Indiana. It is great that we are. Crean was a fill in the blank because he didn't. I love the schedule. I can't wait until we add Kentucky too. IU Fans (during season): We have to fire the coach because he gets blown out too much. IU has already played 4 games against top 5 opponents. Other teams: Houston - 0 Purdue - 1 UConn - 0 Arizona - 0 Auburn - 0 Tenn - 1 UNC - 1 Iowa State - 1 Marquette - 1 Only top 10 teams to beat a top 5 opponent: Purdue & Iowa State Let's bring this back to reality a bit. #WoodyQuitPlayingWeirdLineups #GetGuardsThatCanShoot #GoHoosiers
  7. You're probably right. I am very sorry if I jumped to conclusions @Indykev. Please accept my apology.
  8. You said "5 years from now lets hope he makes an impact." What did you mean by that or what are you insinuating? So he's only going to help when he's a senior? Please explain.
  9. Since when in football are we expecting freshman to contribute immediately? People bitch and moan about players transferring and the portal but still expect freshman no matter what their rankings or offers are, to be one of the best players on the field or the court. Very strange in my opinion to expect that. It used to be players had some time to develop. Not anymore I guess.
  10. My guess is most teams loses are no different. Regardless, I think this team's bigger issue is the first half, not the second. Specifically the last 10 minutes of the first half; leads tend to shrink and deficits seem to grow. They seem to start decent enough then fade not a coincidently, when the bench gets more minutes (Woody does the NBA shift). This has been very obvious watching and statistically.
  11. I might be wrong, but I am pretty sure he's dealt with a lot of injuries. One was more serious than has been discussed since people just assumed he wasn't playing because he wasn't good enough.
  12. I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but I am pretty sure Leal was hurt most of last year? I also think he has dealt with a lot of injuries during his time at IU. I don't think he should be playing starter minutes, but I do think he's earned the 10-15 minutes a game that a guy with is talent should be able to contribute and think he'll probably get it.
  13. In case anyone cares, I broke down some numbers because someone on a different site said we're a terrible 2nd half team, and it's actually the other way around: 2nd half scores Florida GC 37 IU 41 ARMY 33 IU 40 Wright St. 31 IU 35 UCONN 40 IU 27 Louisville. 37 IU 40 Harvard 36 IU 50 MD 25 IU 25 MIch. 36 IU 41 Auburn 52 IU 42 KU 43 IU 31 Morehead 32 IU 44 N.Alabama 32 IU 40 Kennesaw 41 IU 50 Nebraska 45 IU 37 OSU 27 IU 34 Rutgers 36 IU 30 Minn. 31 IU 33 PU 36 IU 37 Wisky 52 IU 53 ILL 32 IU 28 Iowa 40 IU 35 2nd half Them 774 IU 793 1st half Them 775 IU 752 Total Them 1549 IU 1545 I could be off, but I double checked this a couple of times (only the second half scores) then just subtracted those points from the total scored/given up.
  14. It will be: Cupps Galloway MM Walker Ware Leal first off the bench. If it was me I would start Cupps, Leal, Galloway, MM, Ware. See if we can pop some threes earlier in the game.
  15. If it's just an elbow, maybe it's not as bad of an injury as it looked. I thought he may have broken his wrist or dislocated his shoulder/wrist.
  16. What I like about him most, honestly, is he rebounds. Guards rebounding really, really make a big difference getting into the offense quicker. This team is so much better when they play faster but under control.
  17. I don't disagree and I also didn't say I am 100% against getting one and "dones", I just wouldn't focus on those guys until we have some stability in making the tourney year in year out, meaning I think we need a more consistent roster especially with guards. That being said, I think IU fans have to come to grips with the fact that we might have some down years or stretches during a season that might not be up to snuff. I definitely don't think Woody has done a good job this year (especially by not getting a guard in the portal), and though this is frustrating (we do deserve a winner), calling for his head in the middle of the season or ripping players on social media isn't doing the program any favors. At least wait until the off season to light the torches. Part of this weird cycle IU has been in is because of the lack of consistent guard play for many years. Part of that has to do with guards being recruited out of position or not being very good (recruiting them purely because they are from Indiana or have a lot of stars) or transferring. This program will only turn this around when the guard play improves across the board. Cupps is a very good start.
  18. IU seems to have a lot of roster turnover. That's why I am not a big proponent of going after guys who want to be one and done.
  19. I am not sure how much more evidence people need when it comes to "five stars". That's not really indicative of instant success. This team is not well constructed and that's the main thing I blame on Woody and the others. They brought in Sparks and Walker when they needed to bring in at least one other guard/shooters. X was coming off a serious injury so we really had no idea what we'd get from him day in day out. He's been way worse than expected but they should have at least protected against that and the obvious lack of a pure shooter. I think they can still turn it around to certain extent, but Woody needs to play the guys who have shown something and not keep playing guys just to play them. This next week or so is make or break.
  20. I don't think people understand, Leal has been hurt A LOT. He was basically hurt all last season. He was listed as "out" last night.
  21. There are many ways to watch games without paying. Also, if you know anyone who does have Peacock, I think you have can have up to three people logged in at once.
  22. What is he doing that is "more of the same"?
  23. This! They play sooooo much better when they get into the offense early. Push the ball!!
  24. And I am here for that all day long. Gotta get comfortable taking them to make a little bit easier to make them when you really need 'em.
