  1. I couldn't have said it better myself. Oops!
  2. Do we really know what the criteria is? And many times the interview process is to gather information about the person for other positions, or for the future or maybe to pass along to whomever they hire. Why not talk to as many candidates as time permits. They have to get this right, so don't pass on a guy that might be the perfect fit.
  3. This^^ and man he's sticking to his guns. But a downgrade? That's laughable. I don't think anyone would be a downgrade. Lateral? Not exciting? Yeah, maybe. But a downgrade? That's trolling if I've ever heard it. Suite 4 must have a soft spot for CTA if he thinks anyone is a downgrade. If it is Frye, his staff alone will be an upgrade.
  4. This all seems very fluid and ever changing. So there's a "want" list, then there's guys from that list who "listen", then of those the interested, then guys who take the call/Zoom, then the guys who say, yes, I would like to be the HC. Then some background, then more formalized meetings, then paring it down from the meetings, then the decision.
  5. So the smoke screen is they are talking to Frye but as the OC because they already have a HC hired and he wants Frye? Let's say it's true, who is this head coach that wants Frye as their OC? Or who is Frye "conceding" the HC job to to accept that role? This all seems far fetched. And let's say Frye is the HC (and let's not pretend he and ARE weren't the first names suggested weeks ago on the other site ). Why would this be so tight lipped? It's not like he would reconsider or demand some sort of crazy contract. And the idea that this is why players are hitting the portal makes little sense either. If players knew it would 100% be leaked. They would have zero reason not to tell people. Frye could end up being the hire, but anyone saying he's already been hired seems to be guessing (or being duped) based on previous "rumors" (possibly a red herring like Gruden) suggested weeks ago on the other site,Oct 23rd to be exact: So far the two names I have heard are ARE and Justin Frye. I was told the negotiations had started. Those two names were just the first two names mentioned since were (sic) early in the process. I think both could be had for a fairly cheap price.
  6. Who are your sources? It doesn't have to be names. But since you have repeatedly posted this, you might has well give us a little bit more information as to why you think this is already a done deal. Otherwise, why keep posting over and over and over.
  7. So the two "news" orgs posting this are the NY Post and Fox News. They're just trying to stir up the anti "woke" and "cancel culture" arguments. I was one who mentioned Gruden a while ago and I don't think this is a realistic hire for IU. I had kinda forgotten just how idiotic his emails were. But I had mentioned him primarily as an example of the type of former coach IUFB should be kicking the tires on. The more I think about it, the more I lean towards a hire like ARE only because he would bring some sort of spark to the program that others are lacking unless they somehow land a guy that seems unattainable or comes out of left field. That being said, it would be a huge gamble, but who isn't at this point.
  8. https://utsports.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/mike-ekeler/5151 Seems to just hop from job to job.
  9. I am sure he's right, but what cost CTA the job wasn't caused by lack of resources. Lack of resources are why IU can't aspire to be more than 6-6 or 7-5. Lack of fundamentals (tackling, penalties, blown coverage), conservative play calling throughout the season, and sticking with both players and coaches who weren't up to snuff caused him to lose too many games IU should have won. Seems like every year they lost at least 3-4 games because of the aforementioned issues. But my overall opinion on CTA massively dropped when I heard a recruit say IU practices were a "sh*tshow" and "middle school". That means the overall structure was an issue. And it looked like it on the field. Penalties after timeouts, regular special team gaffes, players looking lost, missed tackles, wasting time outs etc. If disciplined, smart game play was there but the results weren't, I would be way more inclined to say it's really just a lack of talent resulting from the lack of NIL/facilities etc. But outside of 2021 when the entire team got hurt, I think IU has had enough talent to win 2-3 BIG games per season. It was time to move on. I will always appreciate CTA's passion and love of his players. He gave IUFB fans one of the best seasons ever. He'll land on his feet.
  10. I get it. But bringing up Brand is beating a dead horse. Literally.
  11. I think he's gone too. I believe someone broke down the payout and waiting until next year seems to only save them 7M. It's not my money but waiting will cost them that for sure.
  12. Talk about living in the past. He left IU in 2002 and has been dead since 2009. I understand people like to play the blame game, but blaming Myles Brand 21 years after the fact is a bit of a stretch. You can blame administration, but let's blame those in charge the last 20 years. IU either needs to leave the BIG or start throwing some dough at the football program. And that needs to start tomorrow. Not Monday, not next week. Tomorrow. Pay Allen off and get a real program builder and some one to light a fire under the program. Otherwise, what's really the point?
  13. I hope you are not right. Canada just screams like the easiest but far from the best hire. He's basically been fired from every important job he's had. Which leads me to believe he's a good guy and a good interviewer. Can't fall for that. IU connections are important, but we need a good coach. But alas, who wants the job and who can build a staff. If it is indeed Canada or someone like Frye, I hope they can build a good staff. I think that's the most important piece of the puzzle.
  14. IU was a 7.5 favorite and covered. But really, I believe Louisville is a decent team. They got beat on a buzzer beater by Texas. Is IU "good"? Not currently. But I think they showed some grit in this game and Woody did some actual "coaching" and both are reasons for optimism. Once the rotation is locked in, and players get more comfortable with their roles you'll see better continuity on both offense and defense. But to be a good team, they are going to have to knock down some threes. And at this point, that seems like a tall task. It's still odd they haven't been able to recruit a shooter in 6 years or what have you.
  15. TOS post also mentioned that facilities upgrade is in the works but will not be announced until CTA is gone. If any of this is true, then I don't think IU is worried about the $$. I still find it hard to believe they will pay like the 3rd or 4th highest buyout ever, but I guess we'll know soon enough.
  16. I think firing someone is a bit different than hiring someone.
  17. Chris on the other site says I think it will happen by this time next Monday. Not trying to stir the pot any more than it already has been, but he's been pretty accurate when it comes to coaching stuff.
