  1. One of my biggest questions going into this debacle three years ago was, “Will Woodson have the energy it takes to succeed at a high level program as a head coach?” This has been answered unfortunately and become a reality. Some argue that Pearl is the same age, but the guy has an uncanny energy. Those are the types of guys that coach into their 70’s. Bottom line, I’d feel much better about Bruce coaching at age 74 than Mike at age 66.

  2. I have no knowledge of this being the case, but it seems that once the article was released about IU being a destination or “Dream Job” for Pearl back in December…. Something changed. Now, we obviously weren’t going to have a good season due to the lack of guard depth and play in general. Many of us are on the same page here. That being said, some felt that IU couldn’t and shouldn’t be in that position when structuring a roster, especially in the transfer portal era. Those folks are right. I still, up until a couple of days ago, believed that CMW would return with an opportunity to get it right. He was granted that backing by Buckner, but apparently not everyone else is on board. Whatever chip he seemed to have up his sleeve may now be gone since McNeeley has asked out of his LOI. No solid sources here. Just a hunch.

  3. Just heard through the vine that the powers that be recently found out that there were talks of McNeeley asking out of his LOI, among losing guys that are already on the roster…. and thought that by leaking that Woodson was coming back might slow the bleeding and help with the portal. If true, what a catastrophic cluster of crap. I never would’ve thought that IU would be in this mess, but here we are.

  4. My question for the administration would be this: if you were prepared to pay Brad Stevens $10+ million to become the next coach of Indiana University, why would you immediately settle for Mike Woodson when that fell through? Never thought that this would work. Then when he wasted a scholarship in the portal era, when getting another guard should have been a priority…. Well, that was a telling sign of what was to come. Hopefully they figure it out and do the right thing.

That’s the thing QB and whoever else isn’t realizing. By keeping Woodson next year and he suxkd and then gets fired you lose out on your new coach having a year to build something special with the 2025 class which might be top 3-5 ever in the state of Indiana. Those top 4 in state kids also all play different positions. Which would help a coach after 1 year. None of those players will be available by next offseason. Egos getting in the way of brains.

    Exactly my point

If we could just bottle that up for two halves we could beat the top half of the B1G. Very good win…but let’s have some consistency next year hopefully.  Back to back wins for the first time since December that’s just not good.

We really need to find a special point guard in the portal next year…one that can knife up a defense like sashimi. It’s all I want a IU…a few 3pt shooters…a rim protector, and a point guard that can break down his man. Let’s get to work after the season…its all I want for my birthday.

I agree, and hopefully one that could potentially stick around longer than a year.

Was at the Scottsburg sectional tonight to watch Silver Creek top Madison and hung around to watch Scottsburg dispose of Corydon.  I mention that because Scottsburg has a chance to win a state title this season.  Very balanced and veteran team with 4 seniors and 1 junior in the starting lineup.  Not deep at all, however   So, this season is obviously their opportunity if they are going to do it.  So, my question to the Scottsburg coach is why he's playing his starters up 32 with three and a half minutes left.  One rolled ankle and your opportunity is gone.

Sure your bench is inexperienced.  But, they aren't going to give up a 30 point lead in 3 minutes. It wasn't until the Corydon coach cleared his bench first that Scottsburg did theirs.  I'm a Silver Creek fan, so if that injury scenario plays out, it benefits my team.  But, your team and your fans deserve better.  Your bench should have been cleared 3-4 minutes before it was.

The Madison/SC game was a pretty good game. We’ve been battling upper respiratory infections at our house over the past two weeks, and I have bronchitis as well. Needless to say, my son wasn’t able to play much, only in short spurts. That being said they return their top four scorers and will get back their primary post player that missed all season due to an ACL Tear from football season.

We didn’t stick around for the Scottburg/Corydon game due to not feeling well. But you’re right, if Scottsburg is ever going to get it done, it’ll be this year. Hopefully SC gave them a better fight tonight.

    This sectional is at Scottsburg?

Thats crazy to have Charlestown or Madison not host, both have tremendous gyms.

Sorry-- not at all a fan of the Pressure Cooker, especially not hosting an event as well attended as this will be.

Exactly… Scottsburg is not a convenient location to host anything really. Madison is really set up nicely from a convenience perspective. Both Madison and Charlestown have nice venues with plenty of parking. Lots of restaurants around the school in Madison too.

We’ve done it both ways and failed….Sampson, Crean, Archie all not Knight related…Woody was a Knight player but he wasn’t a disciple…meaning coached under him. But I agree…just fine the most proven winner that has the best track record in building and sustaining a program….no matter who it is. Coach Knight had no connection to IU before he got here so why should the next have to be.

I mean, we even had a “disciple” in Dakich as an intern, but he was perhaps the worst… even in such a short timeframe. Just need to pay someone who can change the entire perception of our program over the last quarter century.

  10. Woodson needs to hold himself accountable for this season. He’s the one that put this group together. He’s the one that specifically decided not to use that last scholarship in the portal on a guard, and stated that we were good enough with what was coming in. I know that you couldn’t foresee Newton not getting right, but you did know that he was coming off of a critical injury. Not to mention XJ coming back for sixth season of mediocrity after having a critical injury himself. This…. is ALL on Woodson.

We’re out coached the majority of the time. Who cares about talent…you won’t win with this system. Same reason why we had a generational talent last year coupled with a top 20 draft pick and we still lost 13 times

All true, and I wanted things to work out, as always for our program. That being said, we’ve watched our AD’s give guys like Archie and Woody an opportunity when we need to take a long look around, find the right guy and spend some coin to make it happen.

  12. Well, I can’t speak for any of you, but I’d rather drink poison than watch anymore of this crap. Indiana basketball has become a joke. I know Woodson will get at least one more year, but they’d better spend big on the next guy, because this ain’t it. What an absolute fn joke.

I personally loved Collins going ballistic on the officials.  Gained a lot of respect for him not putting up with such obvious bias.

I may be in the minority by saying this, but I think Collins is a solid coach. If he ever happens to get a crack at a gig where he can land some big time recruits or a large NIL backing, I think he could become a great coach. He adapts really well and always has a sound game plan for his team.

Yes.  I was in attendance.  I thought Madison played well.

I was there also. My boy was the tall thin lefty #13. They played SC tight until the end… but it was a pretty good game for the most part. Couldn’t hit shots down the stretch.
