  1. I only saw UM play once this year v. some cream puff.  Jett Howard can put the ball in the basket.

IU is a veteran team and we should be better on the road than we have been.

    Starters:

    1) TJD (3)

    2) Thompson (4)

    3) Kopp (4)

    4) Galloway (2)

    5) JHS Rookie

Hoping JHS can continue to assert his control on offense and defense.

....Our defense HAS gotten better since X has been out. They had no choice. Others have stepped up and filled in much welcomed rolls. When X comes back his defense should add another nasty wrinkle to a solid, much improved defense. This will help come March! Go IU!

Well, looking at Kenpom I don't think so.  We started out at #9 on defensive efficiency.  At one point we were down to 7.  But went down to the 40's.

As the old saying goes "Defense travels" but I believe Indiana's improvement in taking care of the ball the last seven games bodes well for our chances of a blowout. I believe the defensive pressure that Minnesota, Maryland and Purdue put on us will translate to the experience needed to win tonight.

This game will be tremendous come tournament time for our seed.

I agree but our defense won't get a lot better until X gets back.  Look out then.

    He's wrong.

JHS has been great this year.  He's improved his most glaring weakness beyond the arc.  He does need to be more consistent, but he's getting there fast.  He is more likely than not to go to the NBA which would be a positive for CMW and the program.

But IMHO the stats say that he needs to go to the rim or dish more than pulling up.  I'm not saying his shot selection is bad, but just that he needs to tweak it.

    ? what?

He hit like 4 or 5 mid range shots vs. Purdue and I don't think the kid has taken a bad shot the past three games. Minnesota he did a couple of times.

From 2/5/23 article from Adam Finkelstein published by PEEGS.

He's shooting 42% inside the arc which has a lot more to do with shot selection than finishing.  He's shooting 50% at the rim but only 22% of his total shots are from that range.  47.6 of his shots are coming from 2-point jumpers of which he's making 39%.  He did have a reputation coming out of HS as a good mid-range scorer, but questionable beyond the arc.

  6. I think three areas we need to improve to beat Rutgers:

    1) They get 16.8 points per game off of TOs.  We need to be careful with the ball and shot selection to not give them easy points.  Looking at you JHS.

    2) We need to keep them off the offensive boards.

    3) We need to defend without fouling too much.

The mid-range jumper that JHS immediately started shooting early this season was part of the reason I was really into him. We haven’t had many mid-range shooters lately and they are super effective - and harder for teams to guard against.

His mid-range game just not on right now.  I think due mainly to shot selection.
