  1. I live in the next county over, and I can 100% confirm this.
  2. I actually have a goatee and a shaved head too. Any time I asked my classes what we should do for a fundraiser..."make meth!"
  3. Thankfully at 34 years old, I've had enough opportunity to find myself and what I'm looking for. I'm just kind of curious what people think of as a good or fun place to go. After having taught for 8 years, one thing that was annoying was the lack of upward mobility. In teaching, the best and worst teachers still get paid the same and have the same opportunities. Really looking forward to having a chance to move to more desirable jobs if I want. Also, having been a teacher, I feel like I'll be a much better student now than I ever used to be lol.
  4. Except for residence #4, all places I haven't been. Now I'm hungry for lobster for some reason.
  5. Before I started teaching, I actually got my Hawaii teaching license. I strongly considered moving to Hawaii for a while.
  6. I'd probably have a much better chance as a botanist in Colorado!
  7. That's an area I've always wanted to travel to. I'm definitely over Midwest weather, and wouldn't mind not going from 90 to 40 in 3 days.
  8. I have some family that retired to that area, and they seem to really enjoy it.
  9. If they are, they can PM me for where to send my paycheck for the advice.
  10. I get that the Texans don't want to make Mills do too much, but come on. At some point you've got to let him do something. Taylor is out at least a few games, so it isn't like he's just a 1 game guy like that dude for the Cowboys last year. Reminds me of Trubisky's first year with the Bears.
  11. Where would it be, and why? I'm changing career paths which will probably involve me moving in a couple years when I'm done with grad school (not many chemist jobs in rural Illinois). I'm interested in hearing where people have been that they thought would be fun to move to.
  12. I knew we'd been recruiting Ohio well, but holy cow. That's some good company. Ohio rankings
  13. With as crazy as the QB situations have been for teams this week, I'll have to wait until Sunday night to figure them all out.
  14. There was a video IU put out a few weeks ago. As players were coming off the field after practice, someone was asking them who they'd like to be stranded with on a desert island. One of the guys said they'd like to be stuck with Penix because they knew everybody would try to find him. They respect him, and know how important he is to IU football. Even though he's struggled a ton, I think they're still all behind him.
  15. Give me the teams with the tallest starting QB. Tiebreaker goes to the heavier QB.
  16. I haven't read/listened to those yet. I will definitely check them out! When you have a husky who needs a 2 mile walk each morning and night, there is a lot of time to listen. I'm trying to fill that time with things that could be useful, so I appreciate the suggestion!
  17. I've been listening to a lot of podcasts while I've been walking my dog lately, and one I heard a couple days ago was talking about mindset. It said changing a couple words can make a huge difference. Instead of saying you can't have something, say you don't have something. I never thought about it, but it makes so much sense. About 7 years ago I gave up pop for new years because a few of my students did it and they wanted me to join them. At first it was, "I can't have pop," and it was really tough. I haven't had one since, and now "I don't have pop," and I don't even think about it. Instead of "I can eat healthy," change it to "I do eat healthy." I'm in the same boat as you, so this coming weekend, I'm going to go through my kitchen and getting rid of anything unhealthy. Also going to try to plan my meals. A lot of my family has struggled with obesity and unhealthy eating over the years, so it is something that is really tough for me to kick.
  18. I thought we were just going by percentage. I'm killing it!
  19. In my dynasty league, we're individual defense, and Tee Higgins now has as many defensive points for me as Darius Leonard. Can all of you Colts fans tell Leonard to start making some plays?
  20. That one on Fryfogle to start the 2nd half was inexcusable. Right in front of a ref. That crew yesterday was just bad in general. They let so much go and missed so many calls.
  21. I don't think teams get targeted specifically, I just think there is a major bias towards higher ranked teams. In yesterday's game, there were 3 in play penalties. The McFadden and Allen hits on the QB, and a Cincinnati defensive holding. Everything else was before or after the play. I'm sorry, but you can't tell me that in around 150 plays, there wasn't a single offensive holding on either team, or defensive pass interference (our 1st drive of the 2nd half there was a blatant one on 3rd down). On the one play, Allen is literally grabbed and thrown to the ground during the play, no holding. Then the guy dives into him helmet to helmet while he's laying on the ground, no replay. I think calls on the field are usually more incompetence and bias than corruption, even if they do favor higher ranked teams usually. Calls from the booth however, I have zero confidence those aren't corrupt.
  22. It seems to be getting a lot of talk the first few weeks this year, so hopefully a change is coming in the offseason.
  23. I am so tired of these targeting calls. The guy was going to reach out for the endzone, so he dove at him. It's targeting by the rule, but it is such a garbage rule. It should only be an ejection if you really light somebody up. Here's an example of what a targeting ejection should look like.
