  1. I said OSU and Purdue might be the only two we played full games. The first half of Minny was not good. But you’re saying there’s potential right?? 🤣🤣
  2. Solely using their record as reasoning doesn’t validate it. They have two really good guards and mediocre support IMO and I think they get the most out of their talent. We don’t yet = potential.
  3. It’s simple. Our halves have been drastically different in a lot of games. Maybe the answer is that we’ve just played above our abilities A LOT of times this year and like you said we’re just not very good. But after so many of those times, when is it okay to call it potential? Or we’ve played below our abilities way too much? I want lineup changes, rotation, etc? I’ve rarely chimed in on that conversation. I saw the starting lineup +\- somebody posted recently and if that’s accurate why not change things up? But I’m not one of the people who’ve been all over that.
  4. We don’t have similar talent as Wiscy? You think their talent is what won them the second half of our game in Madison?
  5. So consistently inconsistent is what we’re going with? Every game except Purdue (maybe OSU) we’ve had a mediocre to poor half. No? Is it too much to ask or expect to play a full game? My point is that there is certainly more potential or room for improvement, which is why I don’t understand the satisfaction. Sure, it’s better than last year, so I’m happy with the improvement and the staff, but I also think we’re better than we’ve played most games this year.
  6. Who is the 6th team besides the five ranked? You do realize we pummeled OSU, gave Wiscy the game at their place, and beat Purdue. I won’t speak to Purdue bc they are certainly more talented, but why are we not consistently better than Wiscy or OSU?
  7. Really? The joke early on and is still running is that we can’t put together two halves or a full game. Sure, we can be consistently inconsistent, but that isn’t playing to our potential.
  8. That “understands we aren’t going to contend for anything”? I would love for you to ask CMW what he thinks about that comment because I guarantee you he won’t agree they “understand” that. They understand our limitations, but we’ve proven capable of beating any team in the Big10. If we’re happy at 7th then we didn’t play to our potential most of the year.
  9. I don’t agree one game decides that, and not sure if I agree (still TBD). Seems like our ceiling and floor are very far apart, and we’ve seen both on multiple occasions. Playing to potential for me would be showing some type of consistency, or knowing where we’ll land (or at least close to it) more times than not. Hopefully CMW is still molding them and we’ll see some of that consistency as we get closer to and into the tournament.
  10. Shouldn’t the question be, are we playing to our potential?
  11. I like Rob’s D and think he’s serviceable as a backup. I appreciate his time here, but think it’s time for him to move on. I know most don’t like this topic, but it is a discussion board so I’m going to ask it. Besides Rob, what other person do you think needs to move on? Let’s assume TJD is gone and we aren’t adding any transfers. For me it’s Kopp. Next year is a long way away but if we lose both RT and TJD we’re going to be in for a long one!
  12. We’re below average to bad at shooting the 3 most nights Our FT shooting is poor We miss layups at an unbelievable clip We always run into somebody having a career night Winning at Nebraska (who is REALLY bad) doesn’t convince me we’re mentally tough enough to beat a good team on the road. Just haven’t done it enough in recent years for me to believe we’ll do it. *We just aren’t any better than average most nights IMO. We played a pretty weak non-conference schedule and have had one of the easier conference schedules. Not trying to be pessimistic here, but we’re fortunate of that fact or I fear we’d be sitting with a few more losses and on the outside looking in come March.
  13. I didn’t say we didn’t have a shot. I said we could win any of those if we played to our ceiling. But it’s not likely we’re winning at MSU, OSU, or Purdue unless we play perfect and they are off a bit. Winning at MD, NW, or MN will be a very tall task too. Hope I’m wrong, but I think we’re much more likely to win out at home than to win one of these six. And winning one of the six would be an accomplishment imo.
  14. I love how gullible you are. 😉 I know we can if we play close to our ceiling, but we have very little reason to believe it will happen. We don’t shoot well enough from deep which means playing top notch D while also trying to make up the difference of being hosed by officials on the road (which is pretty normal in this league) would be imperative.
  15. I know most hate the lineup talk but those stats are pretty telling. Maybe we need to see if there’s something to it that could possibly increase our ceiling and floor. Bc as of now, we’re slightly better than a bubble team with potential to beat most on our best nights. Let’s see if we can close the gap a little. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  16. Look at the scholarship grid on Inside the Hall. Every kid in college during the ‘20-‘21 season got an extra year.
  17. So at what point does CMW tell people like Race and Galloway to stop shooting them? XJ, RP, PS, MK, TB, and JG at least make them sometimes. This may sound crazy, but JG shoots them pretty damn well. Teams aren’t going to expect us to look for that being his typical positioning down low. Why don’t we look to him more? Kid strokes it.
  18. Who do you feel good about us beating? Maryland Northwestern MSU - no OSU - no Minnesota Purdue - no We could win any of those if we play at our ceiling, but there are three automatic losses there likely, two more at MD and Nwestern where we just don’t play well ever, and at a well-coached/experienced Minnesota team. Sorry, I’m just not confident we will win any of those games. Much more likely we can / should win out at home. I know ILL is tough, but still don’t think we should lose at home. Others definitely shouldn’t be losses. But as we’ve already seen this year, none of these will go how we think they will.
  19. We should take care of business on Wed no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I don’t expect us to win at MD. Will be surprised if we do.
  20. The Michigan game was disappointing due to the effort, but the result wasn’t too surprising bc Michigan is talented (just don’t think they should beat us at home 🤷🏻‍♂️). With that said, if the effort and result aren’t positives with this one we’ll be putting ourselves in a dangerous position. You’d really have to be super confident we’re going to steal a game or two on the road (of which, none will be easy).
  21. Thank God I couldn’t watch this live. I would expect a letdown like this with a young team, but I’m highly disappointed in an experienced one. Michigan is better than their record, but the defensive effort today was pathetic and unacceptable. And our 3 pt shooting continues to be dreadful. If we aren’t going to make a high percentage of shots we have to be able to play D. Being an IU fan is exhausting.
  22. And I’m saying that doesn’t make sense. If the talent level is so much different, why does the SEC have a projected 6 (barely) teams in the tournament and the Big10 7?
