  1. Just had a short storm roll through, as it was starting to come through I may have been sitting outside drinking one of my favorite beers, Goose Island 312. Love watching storms roll in.
  2. Going to smoke some ribs and possibly a pork roast of some type tomorrow. Can’t wait! (Hopefully no bad aftertaste with the pork roast this time lol)
  3. Might as well chime in on this thread. I love a lot of different styles of music and from different eras. I play the bass in our church band (play drums too). Music I mostly listen to: - Contemporary Praise and Worship - Country - 90s Punk Rock (Blink-182/etc) - 70s-90s Rock - 90s Boy Bands (Backstreet) Artists I really like: - Michael Jackson - Brooks and Dunn - Lynyrd Skynyrd - Queen - Elevation Worship
  4. I’m not a big stout fan, just haven’t been able to develop the taste for it. Mostly a pale ale, lager, and wheat beer type of guy.
  5. Not an IPA guy. I used to not be able to drink them, but now I can if someone hands me one. Just had a good wheat beer today, Oberon American Wheat Ale. Highly recommend.
  6. Just tried Slane Irish Whiskey tonight. Not too bad, stronger spice aftertaste. Still prefer my Redneck Riviera American Whiskey.
  7. Yeah I’m excited, I asked for some tools for Father’s Day so I can start. Plus, I used the excuse she’s wanting a few things so I have to have these tools. Being married ha taught me to be a master negotiator lol.
  8. Tried two beers by Kona I haven’t had before. Light Summer Ale and Wheat Ale. Both were good, not something I would get to have regularly, but nice for something different. Summer Ale has a little light citrus after taste (I’m not a fruity beer guy), and the Wheat Ale has more of a Whiteclaw type of taste to it. Also tried Urban Chestnuts American Lager. I’m not a big Urban Chestnut fan even though it’s here in St. Louis, but I did like this one. Would recommend as a mild type of beer with no big aftertaste.
  9. Just did some bacon wrapped chicken strips on the grill, very delicious lol. Thinking about trying a meatloaf in the smoker soon, and got some new wood chips for it. Got apple and maple, excited to try those as well.
  10. Going to start doing DIY wood projects. Wifey has a couple things she wants created. She wants a foyer table, but the bottom section as a closed off litter box with a good cut in the side. Also going to do some wood furniture. Something I’ve always wanted to do, just never had much time.
  11. We ended up not starting our landscaping this year. Decided to do it next year since we are putting out time in completing our unfinished basement. Really stinks not to get to do it because I was really excited to start.
  12. Welcome aboard Logan, very exciting! One of the articles I read regarding his commitment says his wingspan is 7’3! Will be very helpful.
  13. That must be nice, I’m typical Missouri red clay with little nutrients lol. Plus, the builder in our subdivision backfilled with what seems like 3/4 rock......
  14. We had to down a wall/landscape rock in the front yard because it slopes along the house. My father-in-law is a former landscaper so he will be helping me with that, but my pride wants me to do the back without him lol.
  15. Thanks guys, @Leathernecks and @Reacher! Since you all prefer mulch, in the back we aren’t doing a wall, just the plastic edging. How far did you did down before filling it back in with potting soil, nutrient soil, etc? Did you put the flowers in and then started to fill it back up? Just trying to learn from the pro’s lol.
  16. Hey All, I’m a newbie with landscaping and want to start doing a flower bed in our back yard. Nothing too crazy since I’m a beginner, and could use some tips/guidance. - We are thinking about just doing rock instead of mulch, so how does that work for anyone here who does that? Just looking for some expertise because I’ve been reading and studying, but like firsthand advice as well. We will just be doing the black hard plastic edging, nothing raised, so how far down do I need to dig down to start the bed? - Living in the St. Louis area, we are in a hardiness zone of 6, and the partial landscape will be in full shade. Which flowers/shrubs have worked best for any of you in full shade? I’m considering building a wood garden feature like a wishing well or something in the mostly shaded area, but curious on what he’s worked best. - Lastly, I’ve struggled to do flowers in pots. Yes I know, should be simple, but with my busy schedule I’m looking for advice so I can educate my wife to help me with this. What are good tips to keep flowers alive in pots? Normally we have purchased them in already blossomed. I’m worried the pot I’m using doesn’t drain well if it rains, but just unsure. Thanks from a gardening/landscape newbie!
  17. Very ironic small world lol. Must have been perfect timing because I remember messaging Decker that if he ever needed help on the boards I would love to. Perfect timing lol.
  18. Figured he would put his name it to go through the process. If he goes that really hurts us next season, but will respect his decision no matter what (just may not agree with him leaving lol).
  19. Grilled some steaks Saturday evening and made my own peppercorn sauce. Steaks were good, peppercorn sauce didn’t thicken up like it should have. Will try a different recipe.
  20. Irish Whiskey, any good recommendations? I really like Jameson but it messes with my stomach the next day. I drank it a few times to see if it was the food I ate instead, but got the same result.... If you like wheat beer, have you tried Goose Islands 312? It’s their Urban Wheat beer that is one of my all-time favorites.
  21. Forgot to take pictures, but made a couple good ones over the weekend. - Smoked a pork loin in my own brine. Liquid ingredients were water, whiskey, and molasses. Mixed in some salt, red pepper flakes, garlic and onion powder. Kept it pretty simple but created a nice flavor. Rub was KC BBQ. - Made burgers the following day, and got really good reviews on my Greek burgers from the in-laws. 80/20 meat (wife wanted 90/10 but I just snuck the better stuff in the cart), Greek seasoning, spinach, and feta. Mixed it all in with an egg and pattied them for the grill. Had a couple comments that it had been awhile since they had a good burger, so I had good reviews from a critical panel lol. (Not critical of me, but know their food very well)
  22. Had a couple new beers this weekend. Both were pretty good! The 4204 is a nice beer for those not wanting an after taste. Would be a good summer beer. The Goose Island is a nice mild beer with a nice little hop after taste. I’m not a big IPA fan even though I can drink them, so this is nice beer with a slight hop taste.
  23. Anyone do Moonshine tasting/drinking in the Gatlinburg, TN area? I love vacationing there, and one of my favorite things to do is go moonshine tasting. A well known restaurant, The Old Mill, has a distillery directly behind it. I tried their coffee moonshine and it was amazing!!! We are going back at the end of June and will be stocking up. Also, I can’t remember the name, but there’s a distillery at the outlet malls. Tried several of there’s that were decent, but they make a Butter Cake moonshine that is really good! Just don’t make the same mistake I did and go moonshine tasting on an empty stomach. Didn’t get super drunk but I was told I had an interesting time talking lol. Whoops!
  24. Why not have a thread for this?! Lol. What are some of your favorite beers to drink, along with some good liquor? I love me some Kona Big Wave and Goose Island 312. I’m not a big IPA or malt heavy fan, but will always try a beer. I’m still mad at O’Fallon Brewery form a couple years back when they got rid of their Kite Tail summer beer, and replaced it with Summer Daze. Daze is still a good beer, but my goodness was the Kite Tail amazing. I’m also a big whiskey fan. Probably my favorite is Redneck Riviera Whiskey. Not expensive but super smooth. Also love vacationing in Gatlinburg, TN and going moonshine tasting. So much fun!
