  1. Bearwaters is in NC. We were going to drive to Cherokee and the come up the and drive the tail of the dragon but decided we did not have enough time so drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway and returned from the East. Views and fall colors were great. Probably a week away from peak colors at the lower altitudes. Had an awesome slab of ribs at the Local GOAT. Waiting on the wife and we will be heading to Downtown Nashville to try more beer and BBQ!
  2. Have tried a few while on vacation. Gatlinburg Brewery was OK, picked up a 6 pack from Smokey Mountain Brewery that I liked and stopped for lunch at this place (pictured) food was average but sitting outside on the deck next to the creek on a perfect fall day was a 10+. Stopped and sampled moonshine at Sugarlands Distillery. Was a neat experience. $5 for 12 mini shots.
  3. Actually marched right down the field converting on 3rd downs
  4. 30-7. Watching our next drive and then calling it a night
  5. This is getting ugly. OSU is good. Hard to believe Cincinnati is ranked ahead of them
  6. Nice to see this. Thanks to everyone for their insight and analysis
  7. My neighbor got his license a year ago with thought of taking pictures for realtors and making some side $. I've seen his pics and videos and they come out very nice. As far as making $, I'm pretty sure he is still working to recoup the cost of his Drone.
  8. I think I have mentioned earlier in this thread that I bought a some land in a golf / lake community in central TN. Plan is to build there in 5 yrs or so and then have that as our centrally located base. I've been looking at travel trailers and could see us going that way. Go a little further south in winter, up north in the summer. See some National Parks. I figure I will continue to work part time as I enjoy what I do and have the flexibility to do so. Staying in IL not a very attractive option. I prefer the mountains over beaches. A Caribbean cruise can fulfill the beach itch just fine. The final part of my plan is a nice a little recession 5 years out where the cost to build drops and I can pick up that travel trailer on the cheap! I'm actually leaving Friday for 9 days of exploring the Smokies and Nashville so probably won't be too active on here for a bit.
  9. Cases trending down pretty much everywhere but the UK- where there is a new variant.
  10. In a follow up to ^^^, Chicago now wants to deny pensions for those that retire now. How is that legal?
  11. I'd imagine it's much like the CPD where any proactive policing puts the officers career and even personal finances at stake. There was a high profile incident awhile back where the CPD Superintendent went on record saying the officer did the right thing following his training and guidelines but still gets prosecuted. I thank the police when I can for doing a rather thankless job in todays day and age that I doubt many signed up for (had no idea society was going to evolve this way when they started). Many cities that wanted to defund their police (including NYC I believe) have realized their mistake and actually increased funding.
  12. Logistics is a major issue that is likely to only get worse. We have seen social unrest in various places, and to varying degrees, over the past few years. Inflation is going to have an effect in various areas. The issue I'm concerned about is energy. We have seen CA (wildfires) and TX (cold winter) experience problems. The UK just had a gas shortage. FL has hurricanes. The push for green energy has happened too fast and the current infrastructure cannot support it. Heating bills are expected to be up 50%+ this winter. Stockpiles of coal, natural gas and oil are all being depleted. I just saw today someone predicting $200/bbl oil. I can't see that happening but the reality is supplies are tight and that results in higher prices. When it results in shortages, rationing, and/or outages it is too late. I agree with @mrflynn03 that people should be prepared . To what extent is the big unknown.
  13. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10102919/Chicago-restricts-cops-taking-time-city-prepares-ax-unvaccinated-6-500-officers.html Really getting ugly between the Chicago Mayor and the police. Interesting way to thank the first responders who were on the Covid frontlines. "In Chicago, police have reported more than 3,200 confirmed cases of COVID-19 among officers since the start of the pandemic" - https://www.npr.org/2021/05/08/994996869/chicago-police-show-low-vaccination-numbers It makes sense (to me) that if so many have already have had it, they may not feel the vaccine is needed. With the Mayor constantly ignoring her own rules and mandates (latest photo of her maskless in a big crowd at the Chicago Sky WNBA game), science is not being followed here. With 40% of the force eligible for a pension and a very thankless environment, the only winners here are going to be the criminals. The IL governor pushed back the vaccine mandate for state employees until the end of Nov.
  14. Not worried. I predicted 10 for them. They are done scoring now.
  15. Thanks. Good to see this. I scrolled through but did not see any estimates for completion. Hopefully we will see some results soon-and hopefully not see too much of a bias from the dozen drug companies involved.
  16. Major study in Mexico shows benefits of ivermectin. Where are the US studies? https://osf.io/preprints/socarxiv/r93g4/
  17. Chicago Police Department expecting to be at less than 50% strength this weekend. Here is the head of the CPD union-
  18. American Airlines with 250+ cancelations and 20% delayed (same % as Southwest). https://flightaware.com/live/cancelled
  19. Ooops. Off by 800,000. And various other errors. Example A in why the NYT no longer "the paper of record". https://www.foxnews.com/media/new-york-times-massive-correction-covid-hospitalizations-children
