  1. I think we come out hot and have a 10-12 point lead midway through the half. We start missing shots and turning the ball over. WI takes a 1 point lead into the half. WI wins by 10-12.
  2. My brother is a Purdue fan and is saying the same thing. He said Ivey was an NBA player. This year they have a team of college players.
  3. His experiment of using ARE as a wide receiver instead of QB. While that brief experiment may or may not have contributed to ARE playing wide receiver for the Steelers, it was a disaster for the Hoosiers to start that season. I also recall seeing IUs best player in a generation getting cut in half running crossing patterns to start the year. There was one way, it turns out, to stop Antwaan Randle El, Indiana's human highlights reel of a quarterback: Tell him that his NFL future was at wide receiver, not quarterback. After Randle El heard that, Indiana coach Cam Cameron came up with a plan to keep the senior from south suburban Chicago in Bloomington for one more season. He would use Randle El at wide receiver most of the time, and bring him in at quarterback occasionally. The Hoosiers worked on it in the spring and during fall camp. The experiment lasted just long enough to help Indiana dig itself into an 0-3 hole and assure that there was a bullet next to Cameron's name on the endangered coaches list. By the time October rolled around, though, Randle El had settled back in under center. He announced it at Wisconsin on Oct. 6, where the Hoosiers humiliated what had looked like a decent Badger team, 63-32. What's more, it was Indiana running back Levron Williams who inflicted the damage, rushing for 280 yards and six touchdowns. But with Randle El taking snaps, anything's possible. Just listen: "Have you ever tried to hold onto butter when it's halfway melted?" former Illinois linebacker Robert Franklin said after chasing Randle El around last season. "He can make plays I don't think anybody else can make, college or professional," said Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. "I've never seen a player who can dominate a game like he does," said Wisconsin coach Barry Alvarez. "It's a no-brainer," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said when asked who will get his vote for Big Ten player of the year. "If there's a better player in college football in than Randle El, show me who it is." https://www.secsports.com/article/1277935/randle-el-piles-records-eliminates-doubters
  4. The only person who ever successfully stopped Antwan Randel El was Cam Cameron
  5. I don't read much into the practice thing. It was reported during the PSU game that Trayce isn't practicing much.
  6. You know Wahl will play. Guys always get healthy for us
  7. It currently looks like PU and MSU are in position to run away with it. Barf
  8. Maybe these are still stored in AH somewhere. Couldn't hurt
  9. I said that some comments were over the top. That’s what I meant.
  10. Come on, you’re not really being objective. You’re better than that. Some posts are over the top, but in general, your take isn’t really accurate. Those three losses were bad. We scored 48 against Rutgers and were punked by them again. AZ and KS proved that this wasn’t really a top 10 team. All wasn’t hunky dory and there was a lot of concern about how this team had been exposed. This team’s best performance was against UNC. Except for brief stretches, they haven’t looked good since then. It isn’t just the message boards. The announcers and studio people in the past several games have been stunned by how bad this team is defensively
  11. There’s similarity to when Isiaih Thomas coached the Pacers and had about 10 of his friends as assistants. That didn’t go well
  12. Cronin would have been a very good hire
  13. Against a team with no interior game and really no drivers who lives on three point shooting. Honestly, it is inexplicable. Any high school coach in Indiana could have done better. If they weren't following the game plan (why not?), how long does it take to correct that, the first timeout? Certainly at halftime.
  14. Level of competition, quality of coaching and familiarity in scouting. The only quality opponent in the first six games was Xavier. 3 of his 4 TOs were in that game
  15. Look at Kopp in that picture. Watching with his hands on his hips, fifteen feet from his man. If the PSU player on the wing wasn't so wide open and tossed it to the top of they key, Kopp couldn't/wouldn't possibly recover. He shouldn't see the court the rest of the season. I don't have a clue what Gunn was doing, but he's a freshman and at least trying to close out from a mile away.
  16. This is a good article about how Painter assembles a team and specifically addresses Smith. I don't get the comparison in the article to Kansas last year, but so be it. "When I got right down to it, it was like, man, why aren't we butting heads with the best guy at Davidson, the best player at Belmont, because I love watching those guys play," Painter said. "Rick Byrd and Bob McKillop, they're finding the best guys. And don't look at it like the best players in the MAC can't play in the Big Ten." Braden Smith (196th in Class of 2022) The fit: "Looked great on film. Instincts, a sixth sense on offense and defense. Leadership, competitiveness." Painter needed another guard after losing (Jameel) Brown. He fielded a lot of calls from people in Indianapolis who stumped for Smith. After watching five prospects in a three-day window, Painter put Smith, the lowest-ranked of the five, at the top of his list. He trusted his eyes, but he called coaches at all levels to confirm. Everything checked out. Smith was off the charts. He reminded Painter of guys who'd play for Byrd and McKillop. In fact, Smith was leaning toward committing to Belmont at the time. "One college coach called him a basketball savant," Painter said. "Elite talent, elite feel, elite IQ. He just understands it." https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/court-report-formula-that-won-kansas-a-national-title-might-also-help-purdue-win-2023-ncaa-tournament/
  17. The Pacers have 10 players the same age or younger than Miller Kopp. They have three the same age or younger than Jordan Geronimo and Trey Galloway. Halliburton is 22, Mathurin is 20.
  18. Woodson's support was a mile wide, but only an inch deep. For most of the fan base, it was a meh hire. Any team would be affected by the injuries that this team has experienced. However, if the team was executing well, but just outmatched on personnel, that would be one thing. But even Woodson said the players look lost. I watched part of the MSU/WI game with Wisky playing without Wahl (pretty much the equivalent if TJD was out as far as importance to their team). MSU won a close game. But it was a close, hard fought game. WI was connected on defense, but MSU made shots and plays down the stretch. I think a lot of fans could live with that, given the injuries.
  19. Omoruyi is the only Rutgers player who was a top 100 recruit (#51 I believe). The rest are mostly 3 stars. Wisconsin, Penn St, hardly top recruits. Woodson talks about our "young guys", although he acknowledged that JHS is the only freshman that plays heavy minutes. PU has an all freshman backcourt comprised of two undersized guys (a 3 star and barely 4 star). PSU was 8-22 from three against them, while PU matched them at 8-18. IU's problem isn't talent and it isn't youth. Maybe it's the wrong talent, but it's also coaching, scheme and obviously execution.
