  1. The people who "read tea leaves" remind me of the people who had cootie catchers when we were kids.
  2. Car alarms. The worst ones are when the driver is inside the car and accidentally hits the button to make it go off, but instead of silencing it, they're just fumbling around with their keys, making faces and acting like they don't have the slightest clue how to make it stop.
  3. You said a few posts earlier that the Colts weren't in a position to be risky. Wouldn't drafting an injured quarterback be considered risky?
  4. The Tigers were 9-23 at the 32 game mark in 2021. Last year they were 10-22. Right now they're 9-15. If they stay true to form, these last two games should be the start of a nice little 8 or 9 game losing streak with about 15 total runs scored.
  5. They do this all the time when a basketball player transfers. It's never that the player wasn't good enough or just wanted to be someplace else, it's always because some freshman is going to come in and get all their minutes and they "saw the writing on the wall."
  6. If it makes you feel any better, the Tigers have scored 6 runs in their last 5 games, losing four of them by a run.
  7. Some people just have their own vision for what a sport is supposed to look like, and when something comes along to change or challenge it, they see it as a threat. It's like the pitch clock in baseball.
  8. Tigers sweep a doubleheader from Cleveland. Trivial, I know, but I always appreciate every win over Cleveland ever since that year when the Tigers went 1-18 against them.
  9. Hearing that a recruit had a good visit is like hearing that somebody's surgery went well; you rarely hear the opposite. But I wish he'd hurry up and commit. The way things typically break for IU recruiting, the rare occasions where we lead for a recruit have conditioned me to expect the recruit to start adding more schools.
  10. The Tigers and Giants have been in a rain delay for 4 and a half hours. This is every team's worst scheduling nightmare: the final game of an interleague series between two teams who are three time zones apart with a steady rain that just won't stop.
  11. Sort of a cool moment yesterday for a Tigers team that won't have many of them: Spencer Torkelson (new franchise guy) drove in the tying run in the 8th inning, then Miguel Cabrera (old franchise guy) singled in the winning run in the 11th. A couple Mendoza line dudes coming up clutch.
  12. I feel like if they had, some insider would have at least acknowledged it. It's far too quiet. Maybe the Catchings family didn't want it discussed anywhere.
  13. Fort Wayne set a record high of 83 yesterday. So naturally, there's a chance of snow Monday morning.
  14. Can't believe anyone could think that was legitimate. It's an unverified account with the name "IU Fan" whose source is a "local college coach." lmao I'm starting to think there was no meeting at all. Like I said before, damage control on Purdue's part to get their online fans to settle down.
  15. Izzo is just saying what we know for right now. He doesn't know what any of the Purdue players plan on doing.
  16. Javier Baez was pulled in the second inning tonight when he forgot how many outs there were and was doubled off second base on a fly-out to center. Previously, he stood in the batter's box and admired a ball he hit to left, thinking he'd hit a home run, only to see it hit the wall instead. Pretty much sums up the Tigers in 2023. But to be fair to Baez, I can remember multiple instances over the years when Miguel Cabrera would stand and watch what he thought was a home run, and end up with a long single because his fat a$$ couldn't make it to second base. So I guess Baez did a little better in that regard.
  17. Last year, the Tigers had the worst offense in MLB. They did nothing to address it in the offseason and...they still have the worst offense in MLB.
  18. The Tigers are poised to land another top 5 pick in next summer's draft. At least they can finally send Cabrera on his way after this year.
  19. Is Iowa that team that always throws their ace on Sunday instead of Friday?
  20. Another weather-related one: people who flood comment sections on weather posts with stuff like "I never got any notice of the warning from your app, thanks for nothing," etc. Here's a thought: maybe put your effing phone away, go outside, observe what's happening and decide what you need to do next. I know, making your own decisions instead of relying on someone else to alert you is both challenging and scary. Welcome to life.
  21. My trusted weather source had a post last night complaining about groups who are more interested in scaring people that forecasting weather. I'm wondering if this is the post it was referring to, and if this is what caused school administrators to freak out and cancel everything today:
  22. Friday night was a lot worse. Zero thunder or lightning with this one.
  23. Well, about 10 minutes after my last post, the tornado sirens just went off. Crazy.
  24. Nothing but rain and wind so far. Looking like the outbreak that was predicted will be a bust. School officials jumped the gun early this morning and cancelled school. I bet they feel pretty foolish now.
