Living in Florida we always have that due to Hurricanes. But the past two years have trained me to just stay on top of all our needs and not just the basics if I want things to go smoothly.

Knowing someone who has lived through hurricanes in South Florida, guns and ammo came in handy. Just saying. They lived in Hollywood, Florida....

Sorry to hear that, brother.  Sometimes we make plans and God laughs at them.  Hope things turn around for your extended family, but am glad to hear you've landed at a good place workwise.

He, my FIL, had a brain bleed earlier this year. He's been having mini strokes.  Meds aren't working.  He's pretty much given up. It's hard seeing someone you knew become something else.

    At least Rustin is improving.

Yeah, if I were choosing between Illinois and Tennessee, that would be a really easy call.  Loving what you do is an awesome place to be and I'm thankful to be similarly situated.

    Enjoy your travels!

I'm really loving what I do right now, and I can take care of myself.  But life kicks you in the ass. My family and inlaws are having a really hard year.

My FIL, and MIL were planning on retiring to Tennessee. @Reacherdo it before it's too late. My wife's parents planned on that and shit went downhill fast. So retiring there isn't going to happen for them.

Ive heard multiple talking heads ripping this apart today, so thank God some voices out there are speaking up and against this trash.

My point in starting this thread was to inform people to have whatever food, water and preferred fuel sources for 2-4 weeks.

I took a class in college and was on a team teaching this

https://www.ready.gov/cert#:~:text=The Community Emergency Response Team,organization%2C and disaster medical operations.

I naturally take it to the next level.

My point remains, every household should have 2-4 weeks of food supplies, first aid and water.

I'm in favor of trying to convince people to be vaccinated. Use incentives, logical arguments, true facts and risk analysis, and any other means short of mandates. I personally draw the line there. The mandates and the firings that are resulting are only serving to further divide us as a nation and to foster additional ill will among people who feel that the government is over stepping its boundaries.

I am not anti vax, consider me hesitant.  Haven't got it, but I won't lose my job over it. If they require it I will begrudgingly do it. But I will refuse a Vax pass completely.

I work for a contract company producing covid vaccines. So far no mandate to get one. They have provided them for free.

So my question is why so many exemptions in .gov, Pharma, politifools having rules for thee but not for me?  Quit listening to these people. They aren't smart and know nothing.

Dad now has post-vaccination COVID.  I asked him to talk to his doctor about the infusion and he's getting that this afternoon.  So far, it's like a sinus infection for him with a little fatigue and fever.  Hope Moderna keeps it from going downhill, but he's almost 80, so his son worries a bit.

Prayers for your dad.  Hope he recovers.

When a mayor calls his police force “racist murderers”, but then requires them to move his daughter’s futon, drive his brother to pick up a rental car, etc. this is the police force you get.

This is what saddens me. Why didn't they stand up to him and tell him to F@#k off.  I would feel disrespected, and kick him strait in the balls.

    Shit is out of control.

Ha, not there yet. And honestly have never felt threatened by my neighbors. It’s mostly harmless, but annoying things. The traffic stuff is however a real problem and the NYPD has seemed to just walk away from it.

I agree, The WORST mayor. And it didn’t help that the NYPD hated him so much that they (again) decided to take it easy on their workload. Saying, “Oh, I hate the mayor, so I won’t actually do my job today,” isn’t that big of an issue when you are reshelving library books, but when you are still responsible for traffic violations, that can have a big impact.

There are still people that live here and they would like the NYPD to arrest an a**hole with 20 active school zone speeding violations - but they don’t. Those a**holes just keep on driving and causing problems.

I’m a huge proponent of taking away traffic enforcement from an NYPD that doesn’t want to do it and actively contributes to the problem. Give that oversight to the DOT and then tell the cops from Long Island that they have to find parking like the rest of us. They shouldn’t get to block sidewalks and bike lanes with their personal cars.

There is now a concerted effort of people flooding 311 with complaints about personal cars of NYPD parked illegally. And shocker, the NYPD is harassing people who have submitted formal complaints. Absolute trash.

I just saw this a few minutes ago.  NYPD civilian traffic enforcers.

Not much you can really do if it collapses....hyperinflation and any money you have will be worthless...in or out of the bank. Basically be ready to live off the grid, source your own food and power, and have lots of tradable commodities. Banks fail...everything fails...because your money would be worthless and thus any commodities you would want to buy would be unaffordable along with water and power.

I think we are going to see continued inflation through 2022 at the minimum. Prices are going to continue to go up and many items will become more scarce. If you need specific items to get by (I'm not saying horde but some people require a special diet or OTC medications or needs for their family members) I'd say slowly build a good backup and locking in prices now as opposed to waiting I'm afraid cost of most things will continue to rise. I'm not predicting doomsday lol....but I do think we are set to see something similar to the late 70's and early 80's over a short term. I do believe markets will adjust but we are definitely going to feel some pain for awhile. Hopefully better decisions will limit the duration but at the moment...afraid I don't see those being made.

Well said. When I thought of the topic I was thinking of supply chain issues and inflation.  For non perishables buy cheap stack deep. Fix you price now

Curious as to what you are anticipating.  Obviously a breakdown of our infrastructure.  But would the cause be related to the pandemic, political unrest, or something else.

Im mostly thinking right of the supply chain issues and energy supply. Part of it pandemic related but another is policy. Saw where part of the reason ships can't get unloaded in California is because of a bill that was passed last year won't allow older rigs to operate in the state.  So not enough trucks to ship goods.

Look at the store shelves in places that are not policing shoplifting.  If wholesale panic happens again I'm not sure resupply could keep up.

  11. Stock up on essentials. Water, food, propane, gas, firewood, charcoal..ect

First aid supplies. Water purification kits. I was an eagle scout candidate so I can take care of my troop.

If you don't have a a supply of guns and ammo you are 10 years too late.

Everyone needs to understand what is coming.

    I really hope I'm wrong.

Waaaay too many Chicken Littles around here tonight.

Many thought this year might be a tough one to duplicate last year’s success, given the schedule. No one thought Penix would be as gun shy as he has been.

The difference between IU and programs who are consistently good is depth. I think CTA is there with defensive depth, but we have a way to go on offense. Hopefully his last couple of recruiting classes will help rectify that.

For all you doom and gloom guys. What has Rutgers, Maryland and Minnesota shown you to believe we can’t beat them? I mean, really. Are you that much of a fair weather fan that you really believe we won’t win another game? Personally, I think we’ll beat all 3, lose to OSU and Michigan, and then fight like hell to beat the Toiletmakers and qualify for a bowl game

I hope you are right. And I would rather not be in that position with purdont.  But every time both teams come in at 5-7 it's such a joy to ruin their bowl opportunity.

Yep, I get that! After all I’m a small town kid from Southern Indiana. I hate all the people and crowds. Even the view is better from Brooklyn!

I had never really been to a big city before my first trip to Chicago.  Took about 10 minutes of walking around to figure out why people don't greet each other on the street. At first I thought they were rude. Then realized a person would wear themselves out being friendly to everyone.
