  1. IUFLA,.... you and I always appear to be on the same page, viewing things very similarly. I'm purposely leaving Coach Woodson out of this equation/discussion because my post is directed specifically towards the entire IU roster. This about the same exact time last season that TJD said "enough is enough", (I believe, had a players only meeting), got tougher, became a more vocal leader, took the team on his back and the entire team responded. Do we have anyone that can step up and make an impact even half way close to what TJD did? We desperately need something from someone who is well respect and has great leadership qualities. This season is definitely not over, but something has to change from the player performance aspect. I really think a players only team meeting needs to happen to help plug the hole in this ship.... The thing is,....is there A player, ANY current player on the bench who cares enough about the state of this program to want to right this ship and make a change? This is what we desperately need and fast. I've enjoyed teaching HS for 29 years and loved coaching for 20. Sometimes, students/players are just tired of listening to you at times. They also need motivation and direction from their peers. It starts with well respected, successful and motivated students/players who won't accept failure. JMHO
  2. IMO......The header about IU in the today's Indy Star says it all..... Woodson can't fix IU mess alone. His seniors need to lead the way
  3. IMO and the thing that stands out the most right now is… We are in desperate need of consistent player leadership from guys like XJ. The Ohio St. performance was what XJ can do and we should be seeing on a consistent basis. I’m not saying he hasn’t, but today seemed unimpressive, selfish, stale, and rudder-less.
  4. ...out 2 weeks and then re-evaluated. It could have been a lot worse!
  5. I hated seeing Penix so uncomfortable in he pocket last night. It brought back bad memories when IU's O-line couldn't keep him safe. I was surprised he didn't scramble and use his feet more.
  6. This game could be a huge one for IU move forward. Last year, around this point of our BIGTEN schedule, we lost 3 games in a row….. 1/5/23 - @ Iowa 89-91 1/8/23 - Northwestern 83-84 1/11/23 - @ Penn St. 66-85 Not only were the fans questioning IU’s toughness, but TJD was getting called out too. Trayce had enough. I know we don’t have the same players, but we went on to finish the regular BIGTEN, 11-4. We are in a very similar situation right now. We’ve been lacking team toughness as well as a “rudder”. For starter, XJ’s play was the much needed missing “rudder” that we desperately needed last night. In addition we’ve got to have a much stronger and tougher Ware at the post down the stretch. If we can get consistent production from Gunn’s defense and shooting it will be a welcome addition to our lacking guard play. I know he’s only a freshman, but MM is a big key to our success down the stretch. Go IU!
  7. Here’s a tough one,…..lol …..Last night, my son in law and I were at Assembly Hall enjoying the IU game. In addition, we were trying to keep up with the Colts and Pacers as well as our HS girls/boys double header bb games, all during timeouts and play stoppages. To make things worse, the WiFi inside Assembly Hall was crappy at times and inconsistent the most of the game. 😳😂😅😅
  8. I just left the IU game too!!! Good game down the stretch…
  9. …..Shew! Just got back from watching Jennings County upset #4 Brownstown Central. Jack Benter was held to 21 pts. tonight, ( I know, he was supposed to be a little gimpy and possibly not play) but he looked pretty good. Carter Kent lead all scores with 30. We came back from 19 down in the 3rd quarter and won by 8. What a great game and atmosphere!
  10. Wow, the Buck neck and neck with the 5-28 Spurs in the 3rd quarter.
  11. ....First off, I am very disappointed in last night's performance, especially the amount of time off between our last game. Several on here may not agree with me on this, but here are several observations that really stand out with how/why this team is currently playing. (IMHO)... - We are an extremely young roster with a lot of new faces. XJ is the only player from the original starting 5 from last year. (TJD, JHS, XJ, Kopp, Thompson). **Reneau started some games and got more and more minutes as the season went on. - We are in desperate, desperate need of smart, vocal leader on this current team! Last year's team had several starting with TJD, JHS, XJ and Race (when healthy and playing well). - Ware has been a welcomed addition and has not disappointed,........... However, for us to continue to grow, he has to be more vocal and be more aggressive. - We appear rudderless from a PG standpoint at this stage in the season and lack confidence shooting the ball from our guard play. - Woodson banked/counted on bench players, Gunn and Banks to step and make positive impact at guard play over last year. (Banks has made some welcomed improvement, but.....) - Without freshman Cupps forced into the starting PG spot, we quite possibly could be below 500 right now! - XJ at starting PG is now the X factor to moving this team forward in a positive way. It is HIS time to shine and establish leadership. His best assets are his speed, court awareness, ball handling and passing. On the flip side, they have been his Achilles Heal too. Which one are we going to see from here on out? - I have said this from day one, freshman guard, Jakai Newton is a HUGE LOSS to this year's team. IMO, he was the X factor at guard play that we are missing. - Most every player has asperations to play at the next level, whether the NBA or over seas. Coach Woodson has coached and been around the NBA long enough to know what it takes to get them there. - Lastly, with all this being said, you have to play with the hand you're dealt. The coaches coach and prepare a game plan to be executed successfully. It's then up each individual player to fully buy in, perform and execute that game plan. - "Is it the chicken or the egg?" Whose fault is it, the coaches or the players? I tend to lean towards the players not successfully completing their assignments properly. IF NOT, YOU GET RESULTS LIKE LAST NIGHT! Go IU!
  12. ....lol, You caught that too? 😉
  13. ….I’m gonna be the better man and bite my tongue and go to bed. Mark my word… IU will see better days. Learn from this game and flush it!
  14. I love that he called them out!
  15. Dude,… I’ve watched every game. Geeesh!
  16. I have no problem with that……
  17. We made Nebraska look really good tonight. We allowed 27 points on 19 turnovers. If we could have just kept the turnovers to 10 we cut 13 points off the lead. We got into foul trouble too early and took us out of our rhythm. Nice to see X back,…. he both helped and hurt us in this game.
  18. When I was a kid my absolute favorite was Frosted Grape and they stopped making it. I just found out they are bringing it back!!! …..then from 2nd thru 4th, Frosted Blueberry, Frosted Brown Sugar, Frosted Strawberry! lol 😂 😋
  19. Is it just me or does anyone else sort of like when we are the underdogs? I think being the underdog sort of puts a “burr under our saddles” and gives us motivation. It makes winning more special!
  20. ….respectfully disagree. Maryland looking and playing bad can/could help us with Derik Queen.
  21. I never have rooted for Michigan football until this Championship series. I want the BIGTEN to win this thing!
  22. You mean, it will be Ohio St. @ IU. Lol My kids bought my wife and I two tickets to this Saturday’s game.😊
  23. I thought the same thing. I love hearing when they pay accolades to our players. He basically mentioned Malik and Caleb as turning points for IU. He is a pretty stand up guy. I was looking at the A-Sun standings and they are currently in first place. They will definitely win games this year.
