Just heard through the vine that the powers that be recently found out that there were talks of McNeeley asking out of his LOI, among losing guys that are already on the roster…. and thought that by leaking that Woodson was coming back might slow the bleeding and help with the portal. If true, what a catastrophic cluster of crap. I never would’ve thought that IU would be in this mess, but here we are.

Wow, if that is true, what a crippling mistake IU just made.

I can say this with almost certainty. Woodson doesn't care what the roster looks like after next year. He's all in on winning next year.

.....sooooo, what does your statement about Woodson not caring what the roster look like after next year really mean then? Is there something to this?🤔

I had to re-read this a few times and forgive me......it somewhat feels cryptic. lol

    I read it as....

                       -     He is ALL IN on winning NEXT YEAR ('24-'25) because he has to prove                            everyone wrong.

                       -    He doesn't care what the roster looks like AFTER next year, ('25-'26),                              because he will retire and/or won't be here.... JMO

this is kind of where i'm at...i believe that they really want to keep him one more year, but had it gone how i thought and we were at that 7 game losing streak, it would be so so ugly.  i mean look how bad it is even with a couple wins.  had to make an announcement that he'll be back?  just a shame that we have to wait another year to start the rebuild.  so... i hope we can defend our home court vs MSU and win a couple rounds of BTT.  then retain Taco, MR, and Liam.  pray we get stud guards and that Woodson can't mess up that much talent too badly!

.....What else do we have to look forward to now that the coaching situation has been decided, at least for next year? I was all for a change, but this is the reality right now. I am tired of being bitter and angry and need to move on. I was born and raised an IU fan, that will never change.

I actually watched and enjoyed the entire game last night without my BP alarming my Apple Watch. I can only hope and pray that Woodson will rebuild a much better staff, retains key starters and lands some much needed players in the portal.

My concern with IU having to build an entire roster through transfers is that I'm not sure they'll have enough NIL money to land enough key pieces. The transfers are going to command a lot more than the high school recruits but Woodson is solely focused on using the portal to build next years roster.

It's a forgone conclusion that we WILL lose players to the portal after the season is over. I will anticipate, most certainly Gunn and Banks will definitely transfer, Ware definitely leaving the for NBA.

That leaves us with Galloway, Cupps, Mgbako, Reneau, Sparks and Newton. There has been a lot of chatter that many players want to leave. Currently, of these 6 remaining players, I feel Sparks is only that wouldn't leave.

Since Woodson isn't leaving, and it appears that IU has been playing it's best basketball the last 3 games, will more stay?

How many and who they will be? Will it change depending on how the remaining games play out?

It's gonna get ugly folks.  Really ugly.  I had hoped it wouldn't come to this but Buckner is hell bent on putting his friendship over the best interests of the University.  Buckle up.

    Dolson is not the problem.

If it ends up going this way, I could see students and fans protesting, sort of like picketing..... That could get real ugly.

I shared a screenshot of Mullins’ dad liking a tweet the previous night that said something like “where are the IU coaches tonight?”

Wouldn’t surprise me if that got back to the staff one way or another (especially if guys like Coach Ya are checking tweets from IU fans).

…. on my way to the Seymour sectional tonight. It’s really a great time of year for everyone!

My go to,….bag of pop corn and a Mountain Dew, everytime… lol

…if something like that has stirred the coaching staff to get out and watch HS bb, shame on them! Seriously, that is unacceptable and a huge red flag moving forward.

I don't think that's connected. I think Dolson pointed out things that Woodson has been doing a poor job of but the perception is already what it is and recruits know. It's not going to get better.

I get the feeling that Woodson's meeting didn't go as plan and Dolson said some things that sort of surprised him. I wouldn't be shocked if Coach Woodson went to Quinn to complain or "tell on him". lol....JMO

They do however this screams of being a reactionary visit. Crazy how he meets with Dolson yesterday and then today he is magically going out to watch a recruit.

Good point DC...... It's sort of like this … Dolson says to Coach….

"Coach Woodson, you mentioned you're not going anywhere anytime soon..... Make me believe you, because right now, I'm not feeling it."

This response is not directed at your statement just following up on what you said. The difference is we are light years behind the program that is out there doing it so even if there is no advantage the optics appear that way for sure. Maybe once upon a time IU could just swoop in like Kansas does or UK or Duke and get the prom queen to say yes because of who they are but those days are gone. If we want her we have to court her and make her think she is the one. Matt painter is great at that.  Almost every recruit that Coach Knight showed up at games have talked about what that meant to them. No Coach has to be at all games but they need to be somewhere visible. A big part of this job is being visible and the optics. In the day of social media you have to be out and about and Painter is. Like him or not most IU fans are envious of him and his program. I would rather be ranked #1 and lose the first weekend every year than to be where IU is. Yet Painter is out there being where he needs to be to bring in kids year in and out that kick our ass. Its not a hard concept for anyone to understand. being at one game probably does not make a difference overall but the accumulation does. Get out and see the kids that you want in your program.

.....if you can't make it, you better d#mn well make sure you message the guy, wish him good luck and send an assistant in your place.

It was two years ago he didn't attend the championship games, I was there and saw plenty of other coaches there

....also, how many times have coaches gone to watch games and found someone else that they didn't realize was out there or actually played better than they though? 😵🧐

The families of these players know that and the other staffs are aware as well and trust me it is being used. There is a strong narrative out there that guys like Sisley and Mullins do not fit what CMW is looking for.  As a high school player in the state of Indiana having the IU staff show up for your sectional game just means a little more. When the best program in the state the past decade makes the effort and says this is why we are where we are with guys just like you that fit OUR system the kids and parents are listening. For each of these guys every game the rest of this year could be their last competitive game of the year. Having the staff there is important. We all know what AAU is, not knocking I got my coaching start there but its not the same. IU is BLOWING it with 2 in state kids that mark my words will kill us for 4 years at either PU or ND. I said it with Braden Smith and I am saying it again. this staff is losing the recruiting battle in state and  on the court to PU.

....I was a huge advocate of Brayden Smith, Jack Benter and Kanon Catchings to IU. Those are the "ones IU seems to ALWAYS mess up on landing". JMO
