Woodson not recruiting for 2025 could be because he won't be here in 2025? Wishful thinking. But who knows?

….this is what I’ve read in other boards. Some speculate Coach Woodson and his coaching staff aren’t out watching HS recruits because Coach Woodson already knows his fate.

Dolson's list. It's more of the pecking order. There's names that have been contacted but I don't know for sure who target A, B, C, and D are for sure. Pearl and May are two of them.

Not to change the subject, but just curious..... did you happen to know any of the other football coaching candidates besides Cignetti? If so, where was Cignetti in the A, B, C, and D order. Just curious.

I will say this. It was nice to see IU win last night. That said I don't believe that game or any others will have any real impact on a decision. If Dolson can get a proven coach in the bag a move will be made. IU is about to be in recruiting purgatory because of Woodson's contract situation. He would need an extension to help that and that's just not happening.

    dead man walking, basically....

He has a point. They shot 62% overall, 42% from three, had 17 assists and won the rebounds. That probably is the best this Indiana team can play. It’s a question of defining Indiana basketball whether that’s current or in a historical context.

Don't get me wrong, this win is great! It's just both confusing and complicated at the same time. I think most IU, if not all IU fans would love and welcome this type of play on a consistent basis. Though it wasn't crisp and pretty, nor one sided dominant, it was a win that showed both purpose and determination. I will take that any day, a win.

This type of play would have been welcomed and expected back in January,....... Here we are, March is just a few days away and we still have no certainty about this team as a whole or Coach Woodson. I will enjoy this win like I do all the others. Congratulations to the coaching staff and team for this much needed win. I just wish I felt differently about the win. JMO

    Go IU.

Like I say, we’ll see next year, if he really means it, because that will be his last, if he doesn’t follow through. But this is all speculation, because we’re not the ones making the decision. Personally, I can live with it either way, but I think it’s a bad look for the school and recruiting to fire a coach after one off year. But, that’s  just my opinion.

I totally hear your stand on this tough situation. I really do. Just to be clear, I have been one of Woodson’s biggest supporters throughout most of this. It started wavering over the last month. I am always a person who looks at things half full and usually the benefit of the doubt, but after long discussions with well respected friends, family and a few PM’s from posters on here, I’ve come to the realization a change is needed now.
The bottom line is things move fast at this level and most aren’t going to wait or even feel sorry for you.

I am most relating this decision to the change of trajectory and reasoning Dolson made in hiring Coach Cignetti. His reasoning and efforts to not only compete in the BIGTEN, but to hire someone who’s plan is to excel and be used to WINS in the in BIGTEN, more that we are used to seeing.

I feel Dolson sees a similar trend happening with Woodson and the basketball team. JMO, however at this point, aggressive NIL and college recruiting is constantly moving forward, we can’t afford risking another year, even if we are slightly better than this year. When there’s word of players talking about transferring, (I know they’re just rumors, at the very least)… but players talk and potential players do listen. These things are damning to a team as well as it’s head coach.

All due respect, but at this point, one bad year out of 3 is enough for me to realize a new face, a new voice and  a new vision is of the utmost importance for this team and this university!

    Go IU!

I’m comfortable with Dolson. I liked his hire of CCC.  I liked his reasoning in terms of getting a guy who understood QBs and that his success is translatable.  CCC shows insight into winning and that reflects on Dolson’s thought process.  He didn’t just hire an IU guy.   I liked that he pursued him hard.

I suspect he was saddled with Woody and he tried to make it work by bringing in Matta and Fife.

I did not like his predecessor and I don’t think I was wrong about that, but I’m sure others will disagree with me.  The difference between Dolson and his predecessor is Dolson has actual insight into sports and what the necessary components for winning are.  But that’s water under the bridge right now and I think Dolson has a good thought process.  Of course, none of us truly know the inner workings of everything going on but those are my impressions.

Todd Leary is really saying that he wants to keep Mike Woodson and he's still learning the ins and outs of college basketball and substitutions and stuff. Lol. Are these guys being paid by IU?

I loved watching Todd Leary and what he brought to the game.....but unfortunately the ship has probably sailed.

Pearl's name has come up before the Crean hire, the Archie hire and the Woody hire.

I always assumed that the school thought there were instances he flirted too close to the line (regarding NCAA rules). But  I can't remember the details that surrounded narrative.

You do have to wonder if Pearl's a good enough candidate now, then why wasn't he the 3 previous times?

Would you have ever guessed IU would go after and hire Coach Cignetti? His boastful personality and intention alone is refreshing.

I think he still thinks, or did until recently, that we could still make the tournament as an at large bid.

He's probably hoping if we win the remaining 4, (3 quad 1s and a quad 2)  and win a few in the tourney that will squeak us in. I don't see how we can without winning the BIGTEN Tourney.

Beside....If there is truth about several player unhappy about Coach Woodson, why all the sudden start winning games again. This will definitely guarantee another year at IU. JMO

I would hope he brings kids into his office for exit interviews…at least with several key ones. If we are going to have a bare cupboard next year I’d rather move on and give the new coach time to recruit 2025…then wait another year. Move Woody upstairs…he can still be a face around the program for parents and mentor kids…but get a new coach with energy and passion to move this forward.

You may be on to something.....Sad, but yeah. However, why would you want to be around the program when almost everyone wants you fired?

It's like forcing someone say, "love you" and not want to or mean it....

I assume this would be Galloway?

If true, it looks like he will complete his job here and move on. That will be painful to watch if it ends up happening. I know other players have left with one year to go, but he is like the heart of the team. IMO.

Dolson has a big decision to make and a short amount of time.

Programs in meltdown mode. What a shame.

This could begin to look like the end of Miller's tenure. It was a mass exodus that were going to the transfer portal if he returned.... There are a hand full of players that would be nice to retain.....

    The clock is ticking.....
