I wouldn’t go ahead and think we’re the perceived leader. Personally, I think if we get Liam to somehow commit during or shortly after that Sept visit, we can steal the recruitment. Maryland has done well recruiting recently and will have solid local players back (DHS, Kaiser), but I think Woody’s resume/development of TJD and Ware/NIL opportunities is a stronger pitch than what Maryland has to offer. Whether or not that resonates with DQ is another story though lol.

Anyone know On3’s difference between “change in RPM” and “new leader”? It shows both on their predictions page. I think the change here is simply due to increased social media engagement but it still shows Texas leading for Liam despite the regular articles our beat writers put out on him.

Couple IU fan accounts today suggesting St.John’s isn’t recruiting him anymore and IU/UK seem to be the favorites currently.

Maybe I misunderstood but I thought he was suggesting he would have a decision made at by late December (latest) but wanted a chance to watch teams play for a bit before making his choice. That said, he continues to like tweets about us being the favorite so I think that’s a good indication of where this recruitment stands. Recruiting is fluid so who knows, maybe the staff blows him away on his visit and leaves no doubts in his mind.

Not sure it impacts things but UConn did land a highly ranked wing today.

Dylan deleted his campus visit posts from Insta and his dad tweeted this out, FWIW. If I understand the rules correctly, Woodson can still have Harper use another official visit again like Queen and McNeeley?

Despite the vibe from journalists that we might be losing steam with this one, he still appreciates the IU fandom.

I personally think the staff would take 2 of Harper, Mustaf, and Fland because they are versatile enough to play together. Mustaf is a really solid player but if we’re looking for a replacement for X next year, I’d rather go all out for Harper and Fland and then see what the portal has to offer if we miss on both.

Think it’s more that our staff is prioritizing other players. I would personally be happy if he committed but I wouldn’t be devastated if he didn’t. Cupps, Newton, and Gunn are likely 3-4 year guys and Mustaf is likely the same. Nowadays, I just find it hard to get excited about long term projects with the transfer portal and our staffs ability to recruit immediate impact high schoolers like Fino and Reneau.
